1 year after release and this game has some of the worst balence issues I've ever seen.


It's sad....


So how do we solve all these balence issues...?


I know! LETS RELEASE AN EXPANSION THAT ADDS MORE BUGS!

You watch.. nothing will be done once JTL comes out... All these revamps we need... (not pub9 that we didn't need)... will never get done.


I was out partying with someone who was a master swordsman... woudn't you know it? She was doing lots of damage, and hurting the enemy!


We were fighting nightsisters... we started hitting the same monster at the same time...

I did less than one forth damage to the health pool, and she took out the entire mind pool in the same amount of time.


I'm a master smuggler, master pistoller... she was a novice creature handler, with master swordsman...


Care to guess which is better in all circumstances? PVP, PVE, and anything else you might think of?




Are the DEVS even reading this stuff?

Do they even care?

Or do they have $$$ in their eyes awaiting the release of their expansion, while they suck down coffee in the break room, and laugh at the users who are paying a 5 dollar premium for their half-programmed game.



Is anyone else annoyed? As much as I am ?

Yes, I am. I've stopped playing regularly until the combat balance. What really pisses me off is that I have to pay money to keep my character and his items, house, etc. active until then. The Devs have nerfed the hell out of the two professions I've ever really cared about (Pistoleer and Commando), and even Swordsman isn't as good as it used to be (at least in PvP). I love not being able to high-end content as a pistoleer, it just made my day every time I tried to go the Geo Lab to get a Sonic schem as a Master Pistoleer/BH Pistols IV and died horribly due to lack of AP2 (couldn't get past those damned kwis or klikniks). It's ludicrous: if you're going to put a special weapon in the game for a certain profession, at least set it up so that members of that profession can use that profession's skills to acquire it. I finally just gave up BH and picked up Master Swordsman and Master Brawler. Never had any problems with the Geo Lab after that. I can even solo the acklay if I'm willing to wait long enough and to get into it with the other acklay-campers, but never when using Pistoleer skills.


In any case, I started this game to be a Pistoleer, picked up Commando on the way and learned to love it, then watched as both were nerfed intouselessness. I'm giving SOE one last chance to make things right; if they fix either (or both) professions to be both PvE- and PvP- worthy again in the Combat Balance, then I'll stick around. If they don't, then they'll lose my business. My only regret will be the friends I'll have lost in the process, but unfortunately sometimes you've got to bite the bullet when something is no longer worth your time, effort, and money.

I certainly agree, otherwise, it would get nerfed in the next patch. Probably worse off than it is NOW.

Someone mentioned having it drop the opponants accuracy. That sounds like a decent solution, and add a delay to it, it may just work.

One of the problems with balancing a game, esp. an MMO/Online game is this: If everything was completely balanced and equal, what fun would it be. If for every special we have, every other profession has a counter to, and vise versa, what the hell is the POINT?! I see that having SO many professions geared towards combat is another problem with balancing. I'm hoping that after JTL and the quick fixes to it after release are all though, that each profession will get a publish to itself, possibly 2 or 3 at a time, after JTL.

There are just so many professions, some really broken, some not as much, that its hard for the devs to really act, without seeming to show favor to someone. I'm not defending them, or saying that some professions need to be taken out, I'm just saying thats how it is, and there is no quick solution. Whats done is done, and now we just enjoy the game for what it is (I do), and wait for those fixes.

as far as i have been able to tell, the combat balance everyone has been praying for has been pushed back past pub 11......


JTL release is supposed to happen after combat balabnce, how much you want to bet it goes live before the combat balance is introduced, and the CB is lost to the digitial dust?

i still would like to complain that the best pistols that are available (de-10 is too rare and expensive) belongs to the BHs, the best abilities too belong to the BHs.. (mind dmg, strong bleed, and fire?!?) id say replace the disarms with similar powerful pvp moves. BHs should be good yeah.. but pistoleer vs BH using same pistol, the pistoleer should win.. an thas not the way it is


so yeah.. theres my 2 cents...


like to thank randonb for making everything so clear, and id say we are lucky to have him



prolly nothing will happen for a couple years, but hey, we tried..

I'm currently Master Pistol, BH 0040, Smuggler 0020, and Novice Commando. I can use all pistols and just need 2 more boxes for all the pistol moves. I do okay in combat, but not like I did as a TKM. And since getting the BH line, I find I never use my DX2 anymore, in favor of the scatter pistol. And most of the specials actually don't seem to help much. My combat (PvE, at least) tends to be "Torso Shot (BH), Bleeding Shot (BH), and then spam Health Shot 2 (Pistol). In my experience, HS2 actually does more damage than Body Shot 3, only hits the health pool, and is as fast or faster than Fan Shot -- so while Fan does more damage, HS2 still kills faster since it's not spreading the damage around the various pools.


To me it just seemed sad that as I was working up pistol that the attack that was best was the one I got as a NOVICE, and that even as a master I'm still using that NOVICE skill as my primary special, once the DOT's are applied (and they come from BH, not pistol).


And then there's the anoyance of most of the higher level mobs that I like to hunt being resistant to everything except blast and my launcher pistol giving me Heavy Weapons xp instead of pistol, even though it uses all the pistol skills. I did manage to find a good Geo Sonic the other day, though, so that will help too. Still. . .I'm feeling VERY underpowered as a pistoleer when compared to my former TKM stuff and when next to my Swordsman friends.

im a master pistoleer, BH 0020. i went out to celebrate getting master pistoleer today, and effectivly got smacked down by a swordsman. seems to me after getting shot in the eye so many times he should of died, but i couldn't get any damage past his defensive rolls/PSG/armor. pistoleer is a broke proff now to me, but im going to stick with it till pub 10 in the hopes that something better will turn up then.....

Im a master pistoleer/bh 0040 and this mix is great for fighting npc's... but besides that... eh... no. the pistols are fast as hell yes, accurate yes. damage tho even WITH a geno pistol still lacks compared to other profs, even with our superior speed. i would like it if ANYTHING that if we dont get the good damage we desire and such, we can at least be a somewhat stylish profession with the gun twirls, holsters, better cert guns and to answer the problem anout our damage, dual pistols would be way worth it. and what is the point now that i have master pistols and bh pistols? i can kill NPCs fine, so what does that get me? killing black suns or death watch to try to get bh armor, or doing janta missions for money so i can just buy things? i can pvp with my combo its not strong enough. im complaining too much escpecially sinse all the devs are on JTL right now and nothin we want or ask for will be provided until after JTL which is months from now... damn.

Been grinding proffs for a while, doing smuggler and pistoleer atm. I went for Point Blank Area 2 first off for the specific reason of attacking quenker lairs, macro an attack loop and target the lair.........8 mins later everything is dead (with point blank area 1) point blank area 2 as you know doesnt work as an area attack but does around 3 times the damage of PBA 1. So basically the fact that it doesnt work has causedthe grinding of 2 proffesions to take at least twice as long as they should have done.....how hard can it be to fix it? PBA1 works as an area attack.

Whats funnny about the whole situation is that a single coder working for maybe 3 days could fix all of our specials, increase our pistol speed bonus as master and up the damage on our weapons by about 1.5 r throw in light ap onto a few more and it would totally fix most of the problems we have as master pistoleer's. Instead they waste time griefing the crafters by getting rid of recursive macros :/
