There is a five page discussion on this topic? Wow, there are some dumb people that play this game.

Sure, it was balanced for PvE but is now being used in PvP. Not working as intended.

I refer you to the other thread wherein I answered this challenge. ALL OF OUR WEAPONS ARE CONFIGURED FOR PVE!!! This is why shields are almost pointless and high maneuverability engines and chassis are all but utterly dominant. Our defenses are set up on a completely different damage to mitigation ratio than our weapons. Point of fact, they are inverted ratios with respect to each other.

The combatsystem in JTL is ground up designed to support PvE first and foremost, with a few of us showing the wherewithall to adapt to the rigors of PvP. Its is fatally flawed, and its only by a number of handshake deals over certain tactics that servers with successful space based activities can operate. Its considered "impolite" at worst to use EP3, but its never been blatantly forbidden. Its a cheapshot tactic, like flying a Bel or JSF, but its not an exploit.

Epulse is overpowered for pvp and its use should not be tolerated.

How's that RG TIE, bub? Bet you got a JSF and a Bel somewhere close at hand too. Don't cry about overpower with that sack of sh*t in your datapad, hypocrite.

Everybody can use a JSF or Bel, bub, if they want one. Not everyone has the option to use epulse. A light fast fighter is not a guarantee of victory like epulse is. So, why don't you shove it? I'm sure you wouldn't like to get epulsed all the time and never have a chance at a fair fight. I fly on Bria with a few different fighters. I have even fought JSFs, Bels, and Awings with my heavy tie. I'll use whatever fighter I feel like. That is a poor justification for supporting epulse. I think 90% of the pilot community would disagree with you as well.

everybody can use epulse too......go freelance

and heres my take on this thread......the pro epulsers have their opinion, the anit epulsers have theirs...theyre not gonna change opinions, so why doesnh't everyone shut the hell up about epulse and go back to playing the game?

That's like discussing ground templates--say riflemen have an attack that hits for 2.5k+ in PvP, so non-rifleman want it reduced to fit the balance with the rest of the game. Basically, your argument would be saying "Everyone can have that attack, you just have to be a rifleman!"

Make sense?

Didn't think so.

The reason we have these discussions is because some people view, in this instance, epulse as an unbalancing ability that throws PvP out of whack. Obviously, the people who like it the way it is are going to defend it. That doesn't mean nobody should discuss it.

i just meant that this thread is worthless....it could go on for 500000000000000 pages and the pro epulse and anti epulse crowds will still be the same, and you know it. sure i think its a little low, but its still valid, and since its a valid game mechanic, im pro epulse. if it was bugged or an exploit then id be against it.

Aramiss, why are you guys so upset about the royal guard int then? It is part of the game, is it not? Shouldn't imperials be allowed to use it for pvp then? You are hypocrites.

I'm going to come out and say it *is* bugged. Why?

Early on in JtL, as the vets will remember, epulse was a double-edged sword. It was extremely lethal, but it damaged or destroyed *everything* in its blast radius, including friendly pilots and pilots not in combat with the epulse user. It was changed because it was used to grief players, sometimes at space stations, because there was no way someone could prevent it from being used on them.

The fact that it was changed once suggests to me that it was never meant to exist in its current incarnation of a superweapon in PvP.

oh, see i never knew that epulse was changed. never encountered it till recently

i feel that epulse should damage everything equally in the 300m range, except players that are not pvp enabled, so friendly players, friendly npcs, enemie npc's, enemy players, should all get hammered equally. except the player who used it, becasue in the skill description it says that it eminates from the ship, so being at ground zero should be unnaffected
