Thread: How to Fix the Jedi Fighter.

.95 speed mod for Jedi Fighter 1.0 for Interceptor and A-Wing. You are wrong.Next time look at the stats before you talk. 1.0 is greater then .95 look whare the decimal is. Drop the same Cert 8 engine in a A-Wing or Interceptor with the same droid program running and they are both faster then the JF. How do I know? because I've done it.
Faster...as in top speed...sure, whatever, top speed means very little to me. I should have been more specific. When I talk about speed, only 3 things matter to me, Y, P and R. It *turns* faster than anything out there. Sorry, should have been more specific.
As it is, PvP battles are about tactics, and using the right ships to compliment each other...dogfighting, in the thick of it...is about YPR, and this ship has best I have ever flown.
As for others wanting to call it BALANCE vs. NERF, *shrug* ok, call it what you like, still needs adjusting. I just do not think anything this small and fast (turnig) should be able to sport a reward shield and two cert 7 blasters, and a IR. If they keep the YPR, mass more along the Advanced would be right, and in the Jedi Starfighter instance, would make sense. Vader had the Advanced built for him, one would assume he would base it on fighters he used to fly and *improve* on them.
NERF implies making it useless.
Balance implies that it would be (as you said) "adjusted".
We begged for new ships to be added since Beta. now they're added. Lets not throw away the baby with the bath water here. Balanced stats could be proposed by the players who actually want to fly these ships AND have fun in space. I don't want an "I Win" button just because I fly a ROTW ship.
But the current stats can be tweaked down in such a manner that this ships can still be worthwhile yet not as over the top as they are now.

By the way.. I can't test this for a while (and should probably know anyway, heh), but how exactly does the speed modifier affect turn speed? The same as with normal speed, i.e., a chassis with a .95 speed mod turns at .95 * the engine's PYR stats?
I hadn't really thought about this before, but if that's the case, the .95 mod on the JSF makes it somewhat less uber--an RE'd level 8 engine in one of these things is going to be roughly equivalent to a level 6 in an A-Wing.
I am wondering if someone could test it. If this is true then the royal guard tie interceptor looks more attractive...

I guess, but I'll bet that I could outfit an A-wing with as much mass as the Jedi Starfighter that would make my B-wing completely obsolete.
The A-Wing would not get 4 blaster slots and 250k mass with just being boosted to Jedi Starfighter values.
Get real.
Of course not, but it wouldn't NEED it. That's my point, you see.
I can promise you that I could outfit a Jedi Starfighter in a way that completely makes my B-wing obsolete, and I'll bet that I can do the same with a boostedA-wing.

I tinkered with excel a bit to find a formula that compares the PvP performance of the pre-ROTW quests.
performance = mass*(P+Y+R)^3*1.025^(gunmounts-1)*9^(ordnancemounts-1)/(size^2)
I left out spdx, acc and dec. spdx does not matter much in a dogfight and It is questionable whether it works for the one with lower speed (tighter turning radius) or against him or her. Acceleration and deceleration do matter but I could not figure out how much they weight.
Mass goes in as a normal modfier only since it is "relatively" unimportant compared to PYR and size. the PYR is added to make compare ships with balanced PYR (most ships) with unbalanced PYR ships (X-Wing). It goes in three times because you move in three dimensional space. Size is a very tricky constant. It's measure is A-Wings. It goes in two times because if you shoot at something you eventually aim for a two-dimensional shape on your monitor and your laser is a one-dimensional. Up to now I more estimated the size of the other ships.
Ordnance go in exponentially because they pack high damage in PvP (1.9k real damageper image rec II for 5.5k mass per launcher) and are extremely hard to be avoided. They do not take size into account either.
Such an explanation does not really hold water (maybe we have physics students here who can work out a better formula
) but I think the values for the ships are quite close to the actual balance.
As measure unit for performance I used the A-Wing again.
The results are the following: (estimated size/performance)
A-Wing: 1 / 1
Tie Interceptor: 1.3 / 0.94
Tie Advanced: 1.5 / 0.94
Tie Oppressor: 2 / 1.38
Y-Wing: 1.7 / 0.05 (not happy with that number
)
Whatcha think? Some ships too high? Too low? Change a modifier?

Had a drift into Kessel and laid waste to everything that moved, didin't see the vette but that is on my list and I'm sure its not gonna be a problem to dink it.
Scew it Im not selling these for no less than 400k.

They are empty because of 2 reasons,1) Forcing players to go there for other missions was removed, thus there was no more "ganking".2) No one wants to go there. What's easy to see is that if there truly was a demand for PvP "ballance" and "content" players would be engaging in it themselves. Instead the skies fall silent. You know what people do when they want to do something? ... They find a way .. yet these servers are full of empty PvP zones. Where are the guilds staging massive space battles? Where are the teams of players keeping score and hosting space duels? ..... It's not a lack of ballance on the devs part, it's a lack of interest on ours.If you'd read my post I did support my opinion. And yes, I call idiots just that.
They really need to make a reason for people to go to DS. Make some nice ground loot drop or something.. Any thing to get the numbers up.

Deep Space is the absolute fastest way to gain Faction Points in the game. But nobody likes grinding Faction Points.
Well, thats because once you hit 66,000 faction points whats the point anymore? There needs to be something added to JTL that will attract overt pilots.
I proposed a space station capture mechanic a longtime ago that required POB ships and fighter support, would have tied into GCW and such... maybe it's an idea that is finally possible. I'll repost it today.....
Something I wanted from the Star to JTL was space combat to effect the ground. Currently on Ahazi Theed is rebel, but if Space pvp combat was to be a factor in normal sectors or deepspace, it would go Imperial.
If you could have some sort of space based faction stations that could be taken over or distroyed by overt only players, I think you'd see alot more space battles going on. Both of my main servers: Bria & Ahazi are two of the largest servers in the game, By Far. Yet the amount of space combat going on is small. I can spend 4 hours in deepspace farming faction and doing nothing but killing vettes, and only see one rebel come in, sometimes none.
