I'm still all for Kitten's idea of making the specialised SW repair tools give no decay. For the arguement of their being "no point" to PvP. I've never been an Ace yet, but I will be and plan to take part in PvP at least on a casual basis but I know for a fact that if the SW repair tools gave no decay I'd be perma overt. Would be nice if the state of the GCW on the ground were affected by space but I just can't think how it could be effectively.

Even if space were affected by space PvP. In some ways that'd be more enjoyable for me.

no decay... in pvp.. besides griefing there would be purposeful grifing of those with rarer parts.

If ships didnt go bust, there would soon be very little demand for ship chassis. As it is now the pilots on my sever are getting amazing deals. for example: I make a tier 4 ship for 90k resources. 90x x 2 cpu = 180k. I sell tier 4 ships for 195k. Thats almost no proffit at all. Id hate to see demand go even lower. There are some people that try to sell tier 4 ships for 240-300k but its hard. but at prices that low your only selling ships for 3 cpu where the resources cost you 2 cpu to make the ship. You'd be better off minning and then selling resources rather than making ships at those prices.

My point is we need decay to survive. In fact i would promote increased decay if possible lol (shipwright part of me speaking).

No one dies in PvP except in deep space in which case they don't decay anyway. Most people do not PvP because of decay and how rare some of the better parts are. PVE is were your money comes from, not PVP. Decay elimination would be great I would Pvp more often, outside of deep space.

You'd be amazed at how often you'll find overts outside of deep space. WIth all these rookies up in space since the launch of the CU and ROTW, i'll bet if i went overt on a hunt/kill patrol, i'll probably be having a field day.

I love piloting and I am also a Shipwright though I don't really stock a vendor and have made maybe 1 mill creds from it in the months I have had mastery. Just letting you know my background for this. Well I have to say I get attached to my components and would hate to see them destroyed like anyone else but I am not for no decay. If no decay in space comes in then SW will lose a bit of business and the other problem is that all the hoarded 100+ speed looted and re engines would come out to play. And where does that leave all teh people like myself who never got a chance at getting those rewards which have been nerfed into submission? If you are going to bring in no decay then I would only kind of support it IF pre-nerf reward items were brought back in to game. And what with the new heavy variants out there, throw one of these uber engines into a new Heavy TIE, pack in a decent weapons and shield and go to town. Add a good booster which I am sure can be done as they now have more mass then an A-wing I believe and you got an awesome dog-fighter that with EO4 running (and why not its not going to decay) will under boost outrun anything that any new player can even dream of throwing against you.

I think in my opinion Kitten is right on track. SW made overhaul kits that repair all damage with no decay. Or What about SW made kits only usable by SW that do no decay repairs... after all to repair say a plane do you buy the parts and throw em in yourself or take it to an aircraft mechanic to do the job? That would give many SW work and for those who are in a rush and have to repair somewhere else? It's only 10% of the actual damage it took.. For me most of the time thats just damage from running droid programs..10% of 10 is 1.0..... 1.0 from a components with 200 - 250 condition... thats a lot of uses left in it.

I say leave decay as is or remove decay and bring back all the lre-nerf loot that will definately show its head in pristine condition once no decay goes in. I know there are people out there with 3 or 4 of those nice pre-nerf engines still looking for the right parts to re with them and they have never once been placed in a ship.

TomoRainer, I don't think decay in space on pvp is a good idea. My reason is as short as it is simple: there are already only a very few people going overt or going to deep space (at least on my server). Most of the time, I'm all alone in deep space. If now decay would be turned on, even less people would go overt in space or go to deep space.

That won't be a big impact on SWs since they already have a bad business anyway (too much competition around with dumping prices and not enough pilots who pay for a good price for a high quality item, and many use loot only anyway to save money).

IMHO pvp should be encouraged and in all zones. Making all pvp damage no decay will do that

Space PVP is by consent so ther eis no issue there.

Also with PVP at no decay it will encourage more RP and set up battles in space outside of deep space. Also this will being non masters into wanting to pvp.

Where the whines will come from is the SW community. But to that I would say ... Look at when no decay was added to ground PVP. The AS and other professions saw no appreciable change.

The current PVE decay is so large it will not affect SW, lets face it people are only PVP'ing in DS anyway so by adding no decay in pvp in all zones will not affect SW at all

I really don't think No PVP Decay will bring as many people as you might think. If decay was as big an issue as everyone is saying then why isn't Deep Space full of PVPers? I still feel that while decay does play a part as to why people don't PVP it is not the #1 reason.

Other than bragging rights there is really no reason for a person to PVP. If Devs reward PVP in some way or tie it in to the GCW more people will fly. Most people are too busy grinding Jedi to bother with flying. Some people arent good at it and don't want to get shot down. Some people just don't like it.

If you take away decay we will not see a flood of people into space. For the sake of argument let's say they do get rid of or lessen PVP decay. Will the rookie pilots go overt more and PVP in their rookie ships? I doubt it. And if so not any more than do now. They will be too worried about some Ace swooping in and killing them in one shot. Now it's not the decay that is going to bother them. It's the fact that they will have to go overt again, re-run their overloads, get back to their hunting ground, and worry if that Ace is still out there or coming back. Depending on DI speed that process could take upto 10 minutes.

What space needs is more rewards for the causual pilot not a decay cut.

  • Allow pilots to do something with Presige (Use it to convert at the villiage, convert it to FP, buy special pilot weapon/clothing/armor/furniture/ship componants)

  • Tie in the GCW with space (make more space stations like the Avatar and make them count in the GCW)

  • Add space chapters to more quests (as RotW is doing)

  • Add more casual pilot content (things like space stations with cantinas and maybe shops that master merchants can "rent". Quest givers for all professions)

Full time pilots do it for the FP/money/thrill. But for some people those things aren't important. They want something else that maybe will help them on the ground. And while FP is a huge reason to go overt, most non-pilots or casual pilots are content to let the full time pilots do the dirty work.

one reason I see why DS isn't full of ppl is lack of content and issues with lag. I know that (before the CU hit)I would normally run around 15-25 fps. If I got in around all the corvette's then I would drop to around 10 fps. And that's with my graphics on low. Also the content is only the SD and Space station. Not much incentive to go there. Not to mention that you have to be a Master just to go there. There are numerous people in my guild that aren't masters yet love to fly. But they enjoy all aspects of the game and dont' fly exclusively. So they're any where from tier1 to tier 4, along with one person that has mastered all 9 squadrons. That's a lot of time not as a master. And they go grind fp in space just like other people. But because they're not master they shouldn't be allowed to have no decay that DS provides? Not really fair in my opinion.

I know i've said it before, but Kessel is my number one PvP zone. Why? Because you don't have to be a master to go there. And just because a person isn't a Master Ace pilot does not mean that they are bad pilots. I've had some great battles in Kessel with people who are only tier 4. Endor is the same thing. So why should non-master pilots be punished with having to "have" decay while master pilots can escape the decay by going to DS?

On a side note, I haven't been able to fly DS since the CU hit. My fps is 1-5. Just unflyable.

I think that decay is a big issue for people. How many people are sitting on pre-nerf reward engines because they fear their loss? There are all kinds of obsticles getting to space. Flying is expensive. A tier 5 ship goes for 700,000 to 1,200,000 credits. It can take 2,000,000 credits just to equip a mid-range ship. Each load of missiles costs upwards of 50,000 credits. Things add up pretty quickly. You can take your precious T-21 and drop an ADK on it and keep it forever - and you probably didn't spend anywhere near what you spent on your ship.

There are lots of reasons that people don't come into space, but expense heads the list. If you reduce or eliminate decay, you enable more people to join in.

If anything it should increased, if you die you pay. Jedi have to pay, even when a lvl 80 bh, ganks a lvl 60 paddie. I decay my componets more useing droid programs, than get'n blowed up.

Jedi lose experience when they die. Their lightsabers and gear don't suffer decay when they get killed by a BH.

A simple thing would be to make it just like the ground in that if you die during a PvP encounter from another player then you suffer no decay at all. That wouldn't mean that going overt means you don't decay. If you die during a PvE fight then by all means the decay should stay. I mean how hard is it to distinguesh from a NPC death and a player death? They did it on the ground they can do it in space. Nice simple easy solution that should please most people. Add in some SW insurance and everything is set.
