Thread: Focus: PVP Decay

That is the best idea I have heard so far. Not only is it a great way to compromise but it also will help keep SWs in business while not discouraging rookie pilots. Very good idea!!!! /salute

I think that decay is a big issue for people. How many people are sitting on pre-nerf reward engines because they fear their loss? There are all kinds of obsticles getting to space. Flying is expensive. A tier 5 ship goes for 700,000 to 1,200,000 credits. It can take 2,000,000 credits just to equip a mid-range ship. Each load of missiles costs upwards of 50,000 credits. Things add up pretty quickly. You can take your precious T-21 and drop an ADK on it and keep it forever - and you probably didn't spend anywhere near what you spent on your ship. There are lots of reasons that people don't come into space, but expense heads the list. If you reduce or eliminate decay, you enable more people to join in.
I still fly my pre-nerf lvl 6RE'd reward engine. It has been the work horse of my small fleet of fighters and has even powered my Decimator a few times. It now sits proudly inside my Jedi Starfighter where it continues to drive meto one PVP and PVEvictory after another. She still has well over 450 AP/HP and, because I just keep getting better and better, will be around for a long long time.
Do I worry about getting shot down while overt and running EO4 through Kessel or other systems? Of course I do. But that fear of my engine getting dusted dosen't make me want to shelf it or turn it into a coffeee table. It makes me want to run it even more. It makes me that much more aware of my situation in space. While I am hovering behind a gunboat blasting it into oblivion, I am also hitting my "closest enemy player" button like a mad man. I've been bested in dogfights but it has never been because somebody got the drop on me or because they got a lucky shot. The just out flew me plain and simple. I lost some points on my engine but I knew the risks going into it.
Ifa personsits ontheir pre-nerf enginebecausethey are affraid of it getting banged up then you are weak, sub standard pilotsand I don't wantor need them cluttering upmy vacuume. They might as well deedtheir ship too and set it next to that sweet engine that begs to be used. The big sissies.
The day my engine dies will be a sad day. But that thing will be in a place of honor in my PA hall and will be the topic of many many war stories.
And as for money..bah...there is more than enough money in space to take care of all of your ship needs. between the credit chips and the loot you can make millions in a very short time. Or sell the insane ammount of FP you get. The way I see it there are only 2 things that keep people out of space, a genuine lack of interest, or fear. My dad always told me "A scared man never wins."
I'd like to see 0 decay for PvP, but frankly cant see an easy way for this to be implimented w/o being exploitable. The obvious choice would be to make an aditional zone, like Kessel, non-decay, as the non-decay map appears to be the system of choice. The trouble with this might be the idea that Kessel would then become PvE decayless zone as well, since it does not require a declaired faction. Personally, I'm all for a decayless PvE zone, but I'm also a greedy opportunist
IMO, It'd be nicer for neutral pilotss to gain FP in DS than to impliment global decayless PvP, but that's just me.
If you want to bring people into space, bring POB warships. Bring starbases that can be seized and owned. Bring in player owned star bases. I agree that the CU has done wonders for bringing people together. Now something has to be done to bring people together in space. While you're at it, put multiple agro points in the star destroyer and the rebel base so that the thing doesn't allow people to fly up to the bridge before it starts defending itself. Also, spawn fighters more often to make the thing a little more of a challenge.
I don't mind decay on parts, so it will keep the Shipbuilders in business.

I'm roleplaying the game more then playing against the system. Saying that, I don't mind the decaying because it makes sense. Take your car for example: There are times when you can fix a part because of wear and tear, and there are times when you need to replace the part. So it makes sense to me.
and just like a car when it breaks u go to the mechanic and he sticks hir wrench up ur a$$ and

leaves u with a second mortgage...... do u know what they want to charge me just to recharge my aircon and replace a simple gasket on the exhaust (which ifi had thetools would take me 5 mins to replace)
so just imagine teh prices a sw would charge on chilistra for an overhaul kit if the average rate for a tie interceptor is 200k-400k let alone components
yea i say that sw's are coining it enough with there prices on chassys
Wow that is a lot to charge for an interceptor! That is the reason I went SW, not to sell stuff, but just to make me and my clanmates stuff. I was shocked when I saw the selling price for Mark III protons and how little they cost to make.
To get more people into space I think the following would help - most likely repeated again and again, but what they hey, I'll post it once more. ![]()
1) Convert Prestige Pts to FS XP, even if at an insane rate of conversion. I bet you'd have pilots leaping out of the atmosphere (and forgetting to put the droid in their ship because of the rush...).
2) Let us use ADK's on ship parts. Then if you DO get the *really awesome* RE loot part, you can use it safely - at the cost of the rare/expensive vet reward. That we can use it on ground weapons and not space parts I find very very sad, as it's exactly what I would rather use it on. What this should mean is that while the part can be taken out while flying - all repairs dont cause ANY decay on its max condition. It should NOT mean an invulnerable part. If we could do this, I would have NO problems with decay in space PvP or PvE, and I bet many other people wouldn't either.

1) I would protest against any pilot xp or prestige xp being converted FS xp. It doesn't matter what conversion rate it is at, the sheer idea of giving jedi any bonus what so ever in space makes me sick to my stomach. I hate them on the ground and would hate to see them in space grinding for FS. Leave it on the ground.
2) I'm completely baffeled by why we are not allowed to use our ADK's on space components. Why should it be limited to just the ground?

Consider this a premptive protest
Firstly, They'd be in space only long enough to get the required Xp for jedi, then they'd be back on the ground.
Secondly....
