It already is in two respects.

1.) the chassis nonclamture is nothing short of uber.
2.) 90% of pilots fly it. On bria, last night i was hard pressed to find someone who WAS NOT in a JSF, other than myself.

Just as everyone used to wear composite, so does everyone fly a freaking JSF. Frankly its kinda dull looking at the same ship chassis everywhere i go.

You'll enjoy your move to Starsider. A lot of pilots aren't flying JSFs or Belbullabs, actually...I see quite a few TIE variants and a lot of X-wings around our server. There are quite a few Jedi Interceptor pilots, to be certain--Rebels are slowly grabbing them as well, since I know a few pilots have finally said "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." (I think a couple of the *good* Imp Actis pilots blowing away our fighters with ease persuaded them.) Still, a lot of pilots don't pull out the Actis fighters except for PvP. Hell, the other night we had five overt X-wings at Kessel just for fun. We managed to wipe out an entire corvette group in less than three minutes.

Hmmm...well, since I'm new tp PvP I can still remember my kill/death ratio. I've got 8 kills (3 JSFs and the rest some form of TIE) and 3 deaths...all to the same two freelance pilots and within 10 minutes. Seeing as to three of us kept getting killed at the same time, I'm figuring there were at least 2 epulses...as I never saw any flash of the shields or anything...just an instant exit from DS on two of those deaths. Lesson learned, try not to get too close to freelancers. Best fight, Quinlynn (possiply mispelled) and I'm waiting for him to pwn me any day now as payback. He'll have to wait until double XP is over first though as I'm ground grinding for the remainder of the week. Ducimus, not so sure I'm ready for you...atleast if I can avoid it. What am I saying, find me sometime in my Awing so I can learn some things And yes, when you kill me a few times, I'll retire to modify my little pee shooter for the next time.

I wish that people would quit complaining about JSFs and other RoTW ships. Without these ships, my fellow neutral pilots and Iwould not have a viable dogfighting ship. Sure we can stack alot of guns on a krayt, but everyone knows that, so you last about 3 seconds as the true fighters (a-wings, x-wings, Advanceds, Interceptors etc.) attack you as soon as they see you. (ask the rebels we fought this weekend.) I fly a JSF in PvP and other than the optimal turning speed which give a slight advantage in a turning fight vs a similar engine, there is not that much difference than anyother dogfighter. Also, except for the smaller hitbox and second weapon slot, the heavy scyk is the better ship as it has more mass anda wider optimal turning speed range.(not sure about the new heavy rebel and Imp ships.)

Were you guys the ones who blew up my advanced X-wing at Kessel when I crashed to desktop?

um... not sure... I do hang out in Kessel alot because I don't get FP in DS.... and I have engaged several rebels in x-wings... unfortunatly I am usually to involved in the fight to catch names. Sorry, if I did. I am sure that I wouldn't have killed you if I had know that you had crashed.

This last post just reminded me of something I think noobs should know about. If you have AOL IM turned on...TURN IT OFF when you login to SWG. Nothing worse than fighting and having SWG minimize because someone sent you an IM.

A suggestion, if you feel safe, turn off the automatic updates of your anti-virus (especially McAfee) as an update will bog you down as SWG minimizes to windows. A good 45 to 60 seconds will pass before you get SWG maximized and playable again. Good luck surviving a battle when that happens. Almost lost my JSF helping a rebel kill 30 ties in kessel when McAfee took over. By the time I got back in game, I had lost my rear shield and armor. Thank the Devs for Shunt4 and DS decay-free repairs.

Read it, learn it and implement it. Don't find out the bad way like I did.

Hello pilot posters...

2) A (hopefully "polite") remark to you shoot-on-sighters: I can understand where you are coming from... yes, the rules are straightforward, if i go overt you can shoot me. It's a war, blah blah... all true. However, everyone is new to PvP at some point. Wouldn't the current PvP'ers like to see PvP grow? It's very hard for some (like me) to make the transition from PvE to PvP.

The way I look at it is you can be helpfull, respectful, and informitive, without pulling your punches. Why would you want someone to take it easy on you? You won't learn as well. "I just blew you to bits in under 30seconds. Here is why." If you take a few minutes after the battle to answer questions and give advice then PVP will grow. If the person who you just shot down wants to get better they will. If not they won't fly overt. Either way you keep PVP alive and growing by weeding out the weak pilots from the potentially strong pilots.

Some of you boast that you are SOOO GREAT! If you are indeed Mad Skilled, then why can't you afford to take a moment to see if the player is a threat, before blowing them up? Or if they send you a /tell saying they would prefer not to engage, at least give them a moment to truly leave the scene. I would like to be able to be overt so that I can engage someone of comparable skill, but I personally I do not want to engage without consent, or at least warning. I like to remember that this is a game with many players. I try to make it fun for as many as i can, which in the end can only foster a more pleasant gaming environment.

I do take a moment to see if the player is a threat when I engage. Taking the time to send a /tell could be all they time they need to get a lock on you and put your lights out. It is all too easy to play the lost little lamb in space. There are no CL numbers or health bars to see just how equal in skill you are to your enemy. And judging a pilots skill based on their ship alone is deadly. Don't make theassumption that a person flying an Interceptor is only Tier 3xxx or that a person flying a regular TIE is a rookie. That regular TIE could be a TIE/H and you've just made a fatal mistake. If I see a red dot I go in for the kill. Most of the time you catch them farming and they never see it coming. I always send a /salute and if they were in fact FP farming I invite them to come back to the area and will not bother them again. There is no point in shooting down a person twice unless they want to PVP.

I would like to add though... that if i got blown up while overt without wanting to engage, then I would certainly not be "mad" at the enemy player... unless of course he/she KNEW that I was not going to engage. That would probably get me "mad," but I would still not flame. I might send a tell like "grrr... you suck!"

If you go overt then you are telling me that you want to engage. You knew the risk when you launched. And trust me..the more you are overt the more your situational awareness will grow and you will only become a better pilot...if you WANT to be come a better pilot.

Oh one more remark (read: rant)... Would anyone of you "master" pilots actually get satisfaction out of blowing up my ship? I'm not yet Ace, I cannot solo a Decimator... i.e. I'm a tier4 pilot, but I still suck. How long would it take you to end my space trip? Let me answer... before I knew you were there. Same thing happens on the ground when I'm overt. lol You'd go off and brag to your friends, while I'd wonder what happened. Wow! You are such an awesome pilot! You just blew someone up that never had a chance to even fight back. It's like hunting animals that are tied up or something... If you, oh Great Ones, are truly as Great as you say, you should be able to tell a newly skilled pilot from a truly skilled pilot. And if you actually want a satisfying fight, give a /tell, or a warning shot or something. Trust me, in most cases, you will still win, but at least you can feel good about giving us a heads up.

A kill is a kill and yes I will still add your name to my killboard. I don't care if you're in an unarmed Y-8 mining ship using all tier 1 componants...if you are overt you will die. It's not a question of satisfaction but a matter of doing my job. And my job is to shoot down rebel pilots. Same on the ground. I could care less if you are an AFK dancer armed with nothing but a slither horn and a smile. If you are red...you are dead. Again..it's nothing personal it's just the nature of war. This game is about the war between the Imps and the rebs and that is how I play it.

PS - none of this applies to Deep Space. In Deep Space, since it's decay-free and it's clear that Deep Space is a battleground, i'd say if you go there expect a fight, and too bad if you lose. I'll still go there, i'm sure, before i'm ready, but i won't lose anything so who cares!

Then why should it apply to any system outside of DS? If you go to DS you know you are in for a fight. But you also know the same thing when you go overt in any other system.

3) Is there a way to make a space spatial chat macro. I'd at least like the opportunity to say "please don't attack" even if the other player will decide not to listen (as they have the right to do, even if it isn't "nice")

"Nice" and combat have nothing to do with each other. You fly overt expect to get shot at. Period. If you want to get better you will.

When I say composite armour in space I am more thinking along the lines of it being absolutely necessary to have one to compete (as was the case with composite armour pre-CU) rather than a lack of variance in terms of looks. In that respect I don't think it is. Good pilots in TIE Guard interceptors, A-wings etc will still beat players in JSF's. Pilot skill and just how that ship has been kitted out count for a huge amount in space. On the ground, two master Riflemen will be almost identical, with the exact same abilities, two master pilots in space are far from it.

This is so untrue its funny.

Yes, a lot of JSF flyers are complete and utter cannon fodder. However this does not degrade the capabilities of the ship. A simple comparison is to take to equally matched pilots and slot one into an Awing/Advanced/Interceptor and the other into a JSF and see who has the advantage. Yes your right, itll be 10-1 in the JSFs favour. The reason for the this is that the JSF is nearloy the best ship in every area we measure ship capabilits in and it has no handicaps to compensate for this.

And on faction farmers.

If I see some Imp blowing up my rebel chums ANYWHERE while overt, he will die. I am not going to sit and watch my compadres blown to smithereens by some Imperial scumbag while I type out a polite message asking him to stop. I`ll be going in full throttle with my S-foils opn and my blasters singing! If they come back they will die again and again an again. Thats war! If you dont like it, resign from your faction.

Whats the %NT do?

For a message, i was acutally thinking of something like, "Attention, Hostile ship regestered under (insert name here). Your are in direct violation of Imperial Navy order FP262-1, your surrender will not be accepted!"

Hello pilot posters...

I stumbled upon this post and have a few questions/remarks as I am near my Rebel Ace box now and have just started going overt for missions to gain some quick xp while i'm flying.

1) How does decay work in space? I think i know that in DS you get no decay if it's a PvP death. Is this not true outside of DS? Can anyone explain why this makes sense? No PvP death on the ground causes decay of items/armor.

2) A (hopefully "polite") remark to you shoot-on-sighters: I can understand where you are coming from... yes, the rules are straightforward, if i go overt you can shoot me. I see where you're coming from but you make some assumptions.

1. You assume that 'master ube rpilots' are telepathic and can TELL that you're not a master pilot yet with little pvp experience. Sorry, but none of us are so when you're flyign around and see someone overt..well they die, end of story.

2. We go around bragging? Well..personally I'll tell my friends if I made a decent pvp kill and I'll be happy..as I say usually nowadays I'll let the aggressor make the first shot so I know they saw me. As for wasting people who never saw it..well I have killed a few like that before, but the kill doesn't count to me. All it does is mean that there is one less potential threat out there.

3. You wish to fight someone your skill level? Well excuse me but the /duel function is there for a reason. Don't go properly overt until you're ready and make use of the /duel function with your friends or another pilot willing to 'train' you so you can experience proper pvp but...without theintervention of any other pilots attacking you.

4. We've been through the 'please don't attack, I'm an innocent Faction Farmer' issue. Thing is, as much as I try andpreserve the game..hell, I fly an A-wing mate and am doing my best to encourage pvp in space..well I have to go with what the majority says here even if I was happy to let FP farmers be at first...but if you declare overt status, I'm sorry but you're a target from then on. Its harsh, but fair.

At least in space there aren't factions like FOE on Bria who justloadkill all the time. We actually do have more than an ounce of decency up here...well most of us.

5. Sendinga tell like 'Grr...you suck!' is flaming .

-Leaph

P.S

I really do see where you're coming from mate, and in an ideal world, I'd happily go along with it....but what I stated above is generally the majorities oppinions..and thats what counts...whether it be right or wrong.

Heh...well as soon as Starwars Battlefront II comes out, I'll be moving over to that for my Spacebattle fix.
