Thread: FOTM Jedi Starfighter....

Urgently needs to be nerfed. Why? Because it is insanely unbalanced.
It has more mass than an A-Wing, has a much smaller profile than an A-wing, turns faster than any other ship i know, and also accellerates faster than any other ship i know. Tonight in deep space I came across an enemy pilot in the new FOTM ship, and we went at it. The fight was over relatively quickly, the entire time I was turning as hard as my A-Wing could go, but to no use, he stayed just off of my screen but was able to turn so fast that he could shoot me and continue flying in circles semi-infront of me.
Rinse-Repeat 6 times, same story.
This is rediculous, and needs to be balanced as soon as possible.
Welcome to what the imperials had since jtl release.... so I'll tell you what everyone of you rebs told us. Learn to fly, apparently you arent that good of a pilot

Why are so many Imperial pilots responding this way? "Suck it up." There are a couple of vast differences here.
1.) The Imperials had starfighter just as fast and more maneuverable than the A-wing. Just look at the YPR stats for the TIE Advanced and Interceptor, and compare them to the A-wing. The A-wing had one small edge, and that was profile. Granted. However, the Jedi Interceptor, while a hair slower than the A-wing/Advanced/Interceptor, is far more maneuverable and has a smaller profile...with *more* mass. That. is. wrong.
2.) The Imperials always had an A-wing killer: the TIE Oppressor. What do the Rebels have? The only ship the Rebels have that is capable of fielding three warhead launchers is the Nova Courier, and I'm sure everyone will agree that the Nova is not a viablechoice. That leaves the Y-wing and B-wing which both have two missile slots, which is one less than the Oppressor's all-too-effective trio for A-wing killing, and are less maneuverable.
Please, people, just look at this with some perspective.

I dont know... maybe imperials are responding so viciously because the rebels come in here with the originator of this post's view of total 100% hostility instead of acting like a grownup and reasonably responding the first 4 pages of responses have been rebels basicly calling anyone who does not agree with their view hicks, retards, degenerates, low iq or any other response that puts the his/her view as being very thought out... which it is not, its an emotional wreck that we imperials are only responding to because we are tired of the rebels complaining about everything the imperials have and getting us nerfed. I personally would just be happy to have seen the rebs get the ship as well as the imps... I consider that a slap in the face of the rebels. But most tactics (especially promoted among the pvp players i've met who are sucessful... see an awing- forget shooting at it, lock missile and fire)
Imperials have always had the Oppressor to help deal with A-Wings, though, and there really is no Rebel ship that can fill that role. I've been wondering about seeing if we could get the X-Wing a second missile slot for a few months, so maybe it's time to look in on that. That would essentially render the Y-Wing completely obsolete, but I think it's better than allowing this gap to continue to exist, and we can maybe look at the Y-Wing and B-Wing later.
Anyway, obviously there a lot of other issues as well, but we've already had a lot of discussions in other threads and I don't think I have anything else new to add right now.

half true. The A-WIng has a 1.0 speed mod. TIE Advanced .95 Put the same engine in both ships you'll see. As someone before me noted. The A-Wing makes a good BnZ ship. I always thought the A-Wing should turn tighter, but look at the thing. By looking at it I would say the designer was going for all out speed, not high YPR rates.

My Prenerf engine running EO4 that has been in both ships says otherwise. about 1348 speed, and just under 1500 boosted. same setup, both ships.
That said, the YPR acceleration advantage of the T/I and T/A is acutally not such a great deal better, as the A wings profile balances it out. You'll never hear me complain about the A wing being less manuvarable. I've been killed by them enough to know that, the 4.4 Yaw and pitch in an A wing (vs the 5.2 Yaw and pitch in a interceptor or advanced,) is not a handicap to them.

Im going to eat my words here guys, I respec'd to shipwright and played around with RE for a while and ended up with an engine a hell of a lot better than the one I had been using last night, and I turn a lot sharper. I tailed someone in a JSF who was putting it through its motions and I was able to keep them on screen fairly easily.
Nice Kehtal, I look forward to seeing that thing move. I know of at least one person on Kettemoorwith a 94 spd, 85+ YPR engine in a JSF... too bad he's a rebel. I got an engine close to that, but it'd chew up almost half my mass so no go, I perfer my ships to function in PvE as well as PvP.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Tie Advanced, Tie Interceptor, A-Wing and the freelance ship I can't recall the name of at the moment, all have the SAME 1.0 speed mod. All those ships are nearly identical in every way. The A-Wing and Tie Interceptor are practically clones of each other on paper, just they have different shaped chassis. And obviously the key word in this reply is "Interceptor". That's what class these ships are. Built for raw speed and nimbleness so that they can scramble up to engage and harass attacking enemy bombers. They are not designed or intended, for fighter vs fighter battles. Leave that to the X-Wing's, Kimogila's, Tie's, etc, etc.

Well said Ducimus - that is the point exactly - the preROTW ships were balanced the new ones are not!

I have a problem with any thread that starts with "urgently needs to be nerfed". The purpose of this thread is to ruin the game and it should be immediately locked as it is in violation of the forum rules.
