Here's the thing, JTL was never meant to be a one on one PvP game. It was meant to be 10 on 10. 20 on 20. 30 on 30. Never one A-Wing versus one TIE. Look at the movies. The coolest thing aboutStar Warswas seeing hundreds of ships (all DIFFERENT kinds) go at it.

I can guarantee if you take 20 JSFs against 5 Krayts, 5 A-Wings, 5 B-Wings, and 5 X-Wings the more diverse group will win every time...

So yes, the JSF has the upperhand against 1 lonely little X-Wing just as the A-Wing has the upperhand against an Oppressor but that's not the way it's supposed to be IMO.

Actually, your wrong here! the game should not be fixed according to "how its meant to be" but actually according to HOW IT REALLY IS!

And where do you get the idea an Awing has the upper hand against an Oppressor - THIS IS NOT THE GROUND GAME - no one ship has the upper hand - they are all balanced - you can take out any ship in the game with any other ship in PvP if you know what your doing and have good skills( before the introduction of ROTW ships)! The Opp may have less manouverability than the Awing but you can carry 8 times the firepower!

I seriously think youv'e never seen the movies and I'm about 99% certain you've never played JTL. JTL is not meant to be played as a one on one PvP shooter. If you want that then I'd suggest that you check out the old Falcon series.

Note the red in my earlier post.

Never seen the movies - yeah right!

Never played JTL - well on that i just have to bow to your superior knowledge of JTL as you showed earlier when you called the Krayt a small ship - lol

The JTL game is not specifically designed to be a team or loner based game - it allows both, depending on your playstyle!

Most in game PvP is between 2 or 4 pilots who pit their skills SPECIFICALLY against a particular enemy ace!

Due to server populations and not everyone JTLing large scale battles are very rare on most, if not all, servers!

Your argument that large space battles should be part of SWG shows that youthink the JSF should be removed from the game, as ask any rebel or rebel/freelancer why they dont PvP now (if they did before) and the answer will be "the JSF is so horribly unbalanced that there is no point to PvP"!

To true, but you know when you kill a guy in a JSF he is probably not skilled enough to be worth the celebration of the kill!

Maybe im too chivalrous, but vaping novices (even if they fly JSFs) isnt fun for me.

I like to pit my wits against similar or better pilots in as many varied ship combos as are possible.

Oh no, this guy is good. He proved it when he came back after i vaped him while he helped some imps on the vette lol. In my defense, he had plenty of warning that i was there when he was 2K from the vette, heading straight at me with my guns blazing and i took out his front shields and armor then turned to chase him over the vette for the kill.

But, the loadout on my X appears very much like an NPC so maybe those couple seconds before he died he was thinking 'damn, this npc hits hard!'. LOL

I like to fire one of those dummy missles on my first pass so they know I'm there. Not enough to lag them out, just a single shot so they go looking around saying "Where the hell did that come from?!"

Then it's a boost out for distance while they get their bearings. Then of course once they begin to chase.. game on.

I always feel bad when I hit someone who is too busy killing NPC's to notice I have them in my sights. No honor in it.

I see space PvP as more of a gentlemens game, but then again... I also come from years of WW2 Flightsim MMO's.

I know the power of the Dark Side. I am the fire of hate.

Well folks, I'm a privateer pilot, so I don't *personally* know how more maneuverable any of the Imp ships are over the A-Wing. As a privateer pilot, I was saying that my biggest thorn in the side pre-RotW ships, was the A-Wing, due to it's size, speed and turning capabilities. My simple response to the original post was just, "do what we had to do" adapt, and learn how to take advantage of whatever weaknesses any craft or pilot may have.

And to Zade, though I and CFA have had some personal issues in the past, I hope that you remember from my days as your comrade, my honor, integrity, enthusiasm and desire to help all involved on both sides, get the most amount of fun as we can out of our $15 a month (per toon) as possible. I enjoy getting shot down and what leads up to it, just as much as I enjoy shooting someone else down... and what leads up to it.

Happy flying everyone

That's what I thought. Glad we agree.

You misread my post. More likely you didn't read it at all. Go back and try again. Read it real slow like your hooked on phonics VHS teaches and it will come to you.

The JTL game is not specifically designed to be a team or loner based game - it allows both, depending on your playstyle!

JTL is meant to be multiplayer. Period. Just like the gound game.

Your argument that large space battles should be part of SWG shows that you think the JSF should be removed from the game, as ask any rebel or rebel/freelancer why they dont PvP now (if they did before) and the answer will be "the JSF is so horribly unbalanced that there is no point to PvP"!

Then they should probably not try to PvP solo like I stated above. Get in a group if you want to win. Make sure your group is bigger and more diverse than the other group (if you're French then you know what I'm talking about). Don't expect to fly around declared like a hard ass an NOT get jumped by three players from another faction. Real elementary stuff here...

Like I've said before in this and other threads. Cyring and whining for the devs to come nerf the other guy who just beat you won't stop you from losing in PvP. Nothing will. The best players in space and on the ground are the ones who understand that you are going to eventually lose.

This thread started with a little nerf-baby crying that he got beat in PvP. Nerfing the JSF isn't going to keep you from being beat.. You will still get beat. You can cry all you want. You're not going to win 100% of the time. Not in JTL, not on the ground, not in Jedi Academy, not in Battlefront, not in Doom, etc. etc. etc. If you go against other players you will eventually lose.

You can come here and cry. You can be combative, call me names, etc.etc.etc. You're still going to get beat. Deal with it.

And like I said, do what we as Imps had to do against the A-Wing.... adapt.

This thread is full of gross inaccuracies and flaunting of the purity of Star Wars. #1, what imp would be risk losing his life to Vader for flying a Krayt? How can you be an imp and fly a Krayt? Just remember, you said "guildies" and "we imps". #2, what imp would risk losing his life immediately at the force choke of Darth Vader for daring to fly a Jedi Starfighter? Gotta remember, Jedi's, along with anything Jedi, have been outlawed by the empire and punishable by instant death the moment anyone sees you. #3, since the Jedi Starfighters were all destroyed in the 20 years between Episode 3 and Episode 4, what are they doing in the game since this is based on Episode 5? Sure, I could go along with believing that a rare 2 or 3 might have escaped the imperial smelter, but nobody alive in episode 4, except Kenobi and Vader, would even know how to fly one. Keep in mind, from Episode 4 onward, there were only Kenobi, Luke, Leia, Vader and the Emperor, who were the last Jedi alive. Sure, I could go along with maybe a rogue few unknowns escaped the imperial deathstomp (by allowing players to become jedi's).

All in all, the only thing this thread seems to serve, is how innacurate the game is in comparison with the movies. Face it, even if swoop bikes still were around in Ep4, wouldn't have Luke been out riding around on one instead of that slow as molasses land speeder?

Lastly..... this thing about the A-Wing being the "super fighter". Not only is it not a "super fighter", even in PvP, it's not much better than the rebels Z-95. Sure, the extra mass allows the bigger shields and a bigger single gun, but just 1 gun isn't worth much. For all the A-Wing's speed and maneuverability, the wrong thing to do in an A-Wing is to use it's maneuverability in a battle. The best thing to do with the A-Wing, is fly the more traditional "boom and zoom" fighter tactic. Scream in fast, make your hits on the pass, keep going..... for a long ways. Then use your maneuverability to get turned around fast and get back heading in for another pass. There is no reason for an A-Wing to do a traditional "dogfight" where you try and outturn another fighter. With 1 gun, you'll spend twice as much time killing a single opponent in a dogfight, than if you had just went the boom-and-zoom method. This being fighter vs fighter matchup. Against big ships that are like flying bricks, either method can and will do just fine. Gotta keep in mind, the Nova/Decimator/Falcon pob ships are more maneuverable than their big fighter cousins. Now, while dogfighting in a Nova/Decimator/Falcon won't win you any respect over at the Turret Gunner Academy, it can be done to great effect and there's nothing like impressing some hot shot "zinger" fighter pilot than by sticking on his six in a ship 5 times the size of theirs. Even the B-Wing pilots are jealous of Nova pilots within the Alliance ranks. Last word is, if they can't catch you, they can't shoot you. So don't squander the A-Wing (or any other super zinger fighter) speed by trying to grandstand in a dogfight. The more you turn in circles, the more you stay in their sites.Better to be a spec among the stars, and alive, than being a big floundering brick at slow speeds (ever notice how the "zinger" fighters turn like bricks at less than full speed? think there's a reason for that?).

Simply adjust the YPR on these new ships so that they are in balance with existing ships. Ducimous put it quite well..

  • High Mass = Low YPR

  • Medium Mass = Medium YPR

  • Low Mass = High YPR

It doesn't get easier than that. Currently with these new ships the main issue is that High Mass = High YPR

That's exactly the way i see it. I mean, there are 3 main things to look for when building a ship.

1 -Mass --> The Higher the better

2 - Size --> The lesser the better

3 - Maneuverability --> The higher the better

When i decided to build my Tie Advanced, i went all for maneuverability mixed with size, and i had the low mass lowdown.

I have also a KSE which i use because it has nice maneuverability and great mass, but the lowdown here is that its a huge ship.

You can see this "balance" in all the pre-rotw ships.

Now, you can have more than TWICE the maneuverability of a Tie Advanced with 25k MORE mass and a SMALLER profile in ONE ship. Could anyone explain to me where is the balance in that?

Well, guess that depends on if you are a "purist" or a fan of the "expanded Universe", hehe. In the "expanded Universe", and since Lucas didn't retain book rights, Leia and Han went on to get married and they had 2 kids who were born as Jedi. Oh yeah, along the way after Ep6 she found out she was a Jedi, learned her daddy was Vader, etc, etc.

I'm more of a "purist" in that if it wasn't in the movies, it didn't happen or didn't exist. But I can relent a bit and believe some of the expanded universe stuff. Such as the Leia and Han marriage, since that sounds credible. Just keep in mind, there's like 400 different authors with 400 different views on all things Star Wars. That's just a guess, considering anyone and everyone can simply pick up a pen and paper and write a star wars novel and it be accepted. Mostly anyways, except that one author that i heard got blacklisted for having Chewbacca killed off in some commando mission against the remnants of the Empire, etc, etc.
