Thread: RGI: Love It Or Hate It?

My feeling is, there's no logical reason for it to be that much smaller than a regular Interceptor. I could justify a 20% reduction based on "superior" or "stealth" or whatever other crap you want to throw out there, but beyond a certain point, it seems ridiculous.
ONly logic i can see, is that which has already been stated.
That being that
JSF, B22, RGI are all "birds of a feather" that define an new class of ships. I mean, what else can it be if they all share the same sized hitbox? In my mind it just points out the ridiculousness (is that a word?) of the JSF even more.
/sarchasm Anyway, their all really small bastards designed to make PvP last forever and a freaking day.

I ran out of missles and had my first 20 minute fight last night.
Finally we got bored and justflew away from each other. Stupid.
There is no reason why the hitbox should be smaller. The ship is the same size as the normal interceptor. If you can't hit what is actually there, then there is something wrong.
And yes, I've flown against and beaten RGTies. The only way I could hit the thing was to score an exact hit on the top of the ball, which is absurd. No hitbox should be any different than the actual size of the ship.
no hitbox should be that small either. would you complain if the model size was reduced to a JSF size? how absurd would that be? "the IGI should be the same size as the other interceptors!"
what's the difference in the end?
also you do realize that ALL ships in JTL have a non hitable area to them? yes, most of themarejust the edges of the ship, but still, on every ship it happens to some degree. case in point, the JSF. you can shoot the wings and tips and score a deflection.
imo you nerf this ship, which has 1 less gun, 10k less mass, and worse YPR values than the JSF/grievious and it's the pinnacle of hypocrisy.

QFE.
I was about to say the say somethign similar. No ship should be smaller then an A wing to begin with.
Edits: heavan forbid we have variety! Hell, i should join the bandwagon and fly a JSF, just like 95% of everyone else in space. There really sint much of a reason NOT to flying anything else other than the loathing of what it has done to space. I dont even bother to look at what their flying anymore, 9 times out of 10 its a JSF. Yeah, variety is bad, everyone should wear composite!

The death of all Pre-ROTW ships (05-05-2005)

love the 3rd post. you were exactly right. i still don't agree with your assessment that beefing up the older ships wouldn't be a good thing, but i definately agree that the developers alterior motive in introducing these small hitbox ships was poorly thought out.
what i also don't get, why can't palpytus come here and have a discussion with us about it? i mean seriously, he's THAT busy? we're the ones playing the game here, we know what's up, why can't he just give us a rundown of what he's thinking, i mean, there has to be reasoning behind it.
did lucasarts come down into his office and say "put the JSF and grievious in the game and make them rock harder than everything else."? was the IGI a way to sneak a cannon ship in with the same stats to make cannon still viable?
bah. i just wish i understood the rationale.
If sony really cared or thought of JTL in any other way then a "arcade minigame" then a few gamebreaking exploits would have been fixed MONTHS ago when they were reported by the first pilot correspondant. At the LEAST theyd post what they have in mind for the future. Not a peep from them.
In the end, we who wanted a more engaging up to date Xwing / Tie fighter styled game, are ultimatly the ones left with the short end of the stick, pining for a game we'll never receive.

Exactly what in ROTW IS reasonable anyway? I dont think ANY of them are.
IF i had my way:
- THe JSF/B22/vakasi(sp) would be 70K mass with the handling of a Kihraxz
- The Heavy starters would be 50K mass w/ same handling as now.
- The Heavy Xwing would be 120K mass
- The RGI would be 65-70K mass with 2 gunmounts with same handling of a T/I or that of a Kihraxz
THATS reasonable.
So please, lets not get into what is reasonble for the RGI when none of them are to begin with.

I honestly dont think sony cares. Their main focus and priority is on the ground, the CU, and krayyskh (sp) Space to them , i think is just an arcade minigame. The real game, as its quite obvious where they spend their effort, is the ground. I starting to think the "captialsm > gameplay" remark has a degree of truth to it.

Yeh, I mean not to sound anti ground but...just how many times does the entertainerprofession get somthng new added to it? I mean, it's ridiculous...90% of entertainers on Bria are afk while they're dancing/entertaining etc anyway. Hell..90% of anyone on bria at least on the ground is afk while grinding
. I find it odd that they don't really communicate with us much when piloting is the only profession really where you have to pay attention -all- the time. AFK play don't exist in space.

You obviously have zero clue about Entertainers and the state of the profession, and chose a very poor example. You should really try to learn something about a profession before you try to dump on it.

Before rotw came out, thats about where I had thought the new ships would be. The ships that really puzzle me are the heavy novices. I mean, why? Why give themtwice (or more)the mass of any jtl, single gun fighter? What was their logic for doing this? It just doesn't make sense. It elimates at least 50 percent of the ships you gain through your path. But back to the topic at hand, the RGI is a cheater ship, and the JSF and B22 are over powered! Gets ready for the flames.![]()

The difference between an RGTIe and a regular TIE, not counting the hitbox? I'm not sure, I don't own them. Isn't it like 10k mass and the color red? Is that not good enough for you? Fine, then maybe a slightly better speed and YPR number.
Maybe i'm wrong, but think you may have missed the point of this thread, i don't think any RGI pilots what more mass and we certainly don't need higher speed or Y/P/R.
Many RGI pilots from those i've spoken to, won't pvp in it (unless with friends) because either the hitbox is too small or it is indeed bugged.
