Thread: Why doesn't space-PvP have damage mitigation?

ah forgot about the a-wings. that jogged my memory. that part was rather annoying now that i think about it. going 2332 might have been a better choice for the overload 3 commands, but i'm still sure there's something on the ship that can give to accomodate equipment to bust those a-wings if you have trouble this time around.

You guys realize that once they fix Weapon Overload 3. The 1 2 3 hit kills will be a lot harder to accomplish? No more boost on weapon damage, missile damage, and oh apparently Epulse and Nebula Blast Damage.

Even if they fix WO3, there will still be a damage boost, it will just cost a lot of capacitor energy, and you won't be able to spam shots.

Not everyone's loadout allows them to use WO3, such as an x wing (2 or 3 weapons)

In an x-wing you may be reduced to using just WO2 or 2 guns and WO 3... I imagine once WO3 is fixed a lot of single gun solutions will actually consider changing out to WO4 if they can manage the massive power drains.

*rubbing hands gleefully in acticipation of WO3 fix*
Can't help it i'm a shipwright....I can see all that cash rolling it as everyone one scrambles to adjust their loadout.

But as a master pilot i'm prepping for the fix by not using WO3 at all.
I can actually use EO4 instead of EO3 and still be able to use WO1....

I use crafted engines and reactors...that way if I get blown up outside of DS...I can partially fix them and not worry about decay...the rest of the stuff I can limp to DS for a fix.

This allows me to PvP outside of DS a little bit more aggressively as I can push my ship closer to being killed with out worring about decay.

I do my caps expecting a load out fix. All mine have incredible regen rates for typical crafted stuff. For my own ships, I've moved to either WO4 for the bigger ships or to WO2 for the X-Wing and lighter stuff.

how do you get a cap big enough to run WO4 on RE'd 10 guns? i've looked around at capacitors and so far i haven't seen any, even RE'd lvl 10s that can withstand a 30 energy per shot gun. if engine overload 4 math holds true for WO4 you'd be doing 300 a shot. what capacitor in existance can have any decent output with that? even if you are using a borstel that's still 150 a shot.

is my math off here? x10 sounds like a bit much but i seem to remember getting about 10 shots off with the best cap i've ever RE'd.

i agree with ducimus, a WO3 fix will substantially alter so much that most arguements are pointless to probably even make until that fix goes in. it's going to change everything in a big big way. maybe not overnight...

There's also the Cap Overload factor. Decent crafted Mark Is hit ~34 recharge, hitting 60+ recharge and 1700 energy running CO4 (for less than 1k mass). Haven't run tests, but I'd expect a Mark V capacitor to hit over 100 recharge with CO4 if that equation holds.

Still not really enough for L10s running WO4, but I think that's a good thing

is it even enough for an RE'd borstel? we are talking about like what, 30 shots before it's dry? if it's a fast gun 30 can come quick.

Well, "PVP is over in 1 or 2 shots" right, so you'd never need 30
