Thread: Why doesn't space-PvP have damage mitigation?

I also notice these threads seem to flare up when there's something that coaxes people to actually start flying.

Just tonight I was talking with an old guildie - one of the Jedi "lookatmes" who spend time PvPing in front of starports, and was telling him why I hated ground PvP and loved space PvP.
Of course, he HATES space PvP, because on the ground, it's the PvP version of Hokey Pokey:
*blows on a kazoo* (sung to the tune of Hokey Pokey)
"You toss your saber in, you knock his punk ass down, you run right up to him, and you take the n00b to town...you do the Macro Two-Step and you shout how much ya 'pwn' - oh God, it's time to heal!!!"
Oh yeah, what fun.

I was under the impression that they had to be destroyed before the next wave came in.

what happens if you have 1 fighter from each wave severely damaged (but not disabled) flying around cursing you but unable to do any damage to you?
At any other point in any other Squadron, you win. In the third mission of Tier 3 in Storm Squadron, you lose because the mission seems to require that you destroy the wave completely before the next wave spawns. I'm very, very familiar with this mission. I did it at least 50 times before giving up and joining Inquisition.
.... i just mastered storm squadron 2 weeks ago on starsider. which tier 3 mission was it? i see you said mission 3, is that denner's mission? describe more of it for me.
escorts do not work that way, they don't require you to destroy the wave. but missions where you have to "make it appear like you are fighting them off" do.

Oh dont get me wrong, i used to as well. Only ROTW has made it worse. I think at best id have a 5 min dogfight pre RTOW, now its up to 15 in some cases.

yeah that's the mission where you have to put up appearances of guarding something important that's in the shuttle. you definately do not want to disable in that situation, you want to blow things up as fast as possible. again, you should find the mission quite easy if you are using the appropriate equipment and overload commands.
i don't think it's a disparity in piloting skill either, i refuse to accept that, it has to be something to do with the ship with that mission.
