No, we don't.

I give this thead 2 thumbs up for the game of Flame the Noob.

The second anything takes away the utterly TWITCH aspect of space combat, I'm done. This is a game of skill, not a game of "check out my uber powa!"

Actually, that's what this whole thread (and every other identical one like it) has been about - they aren't welcome in space. You should read what we said.

This thread would be soooo much more interesting if the original poster came back.

Did I ever mention my guild was shocked one night when I casually mentioned I had no intention of ever becoming a jedi? Obsolete indeed...some of us unlocked those other professions in game. Quite successfully too.

Are you a pilot and not using Droid Commands?

I dunno ...take lessons off us so that you don't need to petition for a crutch since you lack the ability to fly as well as us without needing "speshul powerz?"

I really don't see the big deal here. Sometimes I'm ashamed of being a Pilot.

You should be. Especiallywhen you needspecial abilities the rest of us don't ask for because we find flying around on the basis of our own skill is sufficient.

ALL personal feelings aside, in the Star Wars Universe, Force powers exist in space.

They did indeed, but none of them involved "healing the ship, cloaking the ship, enhancing the ship, or doing anything to the ship." Learn to pilot your ship well and then for all intents and purposes ..the force will be with you.

How did Luke pwn the DeathStar? "Use the Force, Luke!" -Obi Wan

People tend to forget that Luke would have been blown into atoms by Vader had "NORMAL NON-FORCE USER" Han Solo had not made him "all clear kid!" Wonder how he did that with no force powers?!! Skill maybe???The vast majorityof the best pilotsin the books and movieswere non-force users.

I don't know for sure, I think it's EU, but weren't some Jedi Fighters rigged so that the jedi pilot could use their FP's?

The ships had nothing to do with it. The pilots that used the force did so on very few occasions and in such a way that cannot be translated into game play.

It would add a whole new (and welcomed)dimension in space PVP.

It would earn nothing but more hatred for Jedi, the ability for BH to hunt Jedi in space and bring more xp loss, and make space even less appealing for anyone not a Jedi.

Manna has a valid point, we just need to get over ourselves.

No, you guys/gals that keep asking for this stuff need to just get over not having the powers out in space. I have a Jedi and I would never fly again if this were to happen. Which would suck, because I love space.

Honestly, I am not entirely for the idea of Jedi being able to use Force Powers in space, but if such a thing were to occur, I could see something similar to the following:

Jedi Reflexes
- Adds a nearly inconsequential bonus to YPR, like 1.5 to the stats of an engine. If the Engine has a YPR of 60.2, then the result would be 61.7 with the "Jedi Reflexes" added in. It's not a massive bonus, but it does follow the established idea that Jedi have better reflexes. In most cases such a bonus would be practically irrelevent in space combat situations.

Beyond that, I couldn't think of anything that would make sense within the framework of the Star Wars Universe as has been shown in the films and Clone Wars cartoons. No other Force Skills make any kind of sense, since it appears that Force powers are more or less useless in space.

If that wasn't the case, then Anakin and Obi Wan would have simply used Telekinesis (a very common Jedi Force Power) to shoo off the Buzz-Droids that were chewing up Obi Wan's Jedi Starfighter at the beginning of RotS. All that tells me is that either both Anakin and Obi Wan are retarded morons for not using the Force or they simply couldn't due to some other factor. Since they aren't really that stupid, I have to say that it was due to some other factor.

I would be happy to have Jedi be able to use their force powers in space, if:

Upon launch, the space station alerted the Empire to the presence of aJedi, and within 30 seconds, 30 Tier 6 RG TIEs, 5 Tier 5 (chaser) Imperial Gunboats, and an Imperial Interdictor Cruiser all hyper in within 500m surrounding the Jedi. The Interdictor could then send a message to all players in the zone offering a 100,000 bounty for killing said Jedi.

If the Jedi was miraculously victorious, then he deserves a break for this and to be able to force powers... for 30 seconds until the next identifcal flight of Imperial attack ships shows up and the bounty is offered again.

I challenge anyone who wants what the thread starter suggested to go play and complete jedi starfighter on PS2.

If you still want it after that mess then there is no saving you.

Ooooh, mollycoddle...good word. So good, I think it should be used again in this thread. Stop expecting dev-mollycoddling!

No no no no no.....again, look at the PvP aspect, in a good turning battle every bit counts. The better pilot will still win, but the concept is two equally matched players will still be equally matched in space. No magic powers, no random chance boosts to skills, and your model takes away that equality. That's not what JTL is about. "Nearly inconsequential" isn't nearly enough, it would have to be completely inconsequential. And then the jedi would turn around and whine until that was raised, and they got a +10 or more to YPR. Again, no force powers in space!

Wait....i'm still trying to figure out: Do most pilots want this...or no?

Not that i agree with SonofKashyk, but i did notice he's a bounty hunter. So perhaps he's trying to lure them damn jebay out from their AFK grinding on his name-sake planet so he can earn some credits! We should start a rumor that force powersdo work in space. Then we strike!!! ( I talk like i'm actually good at pvp)

And, Psikobunny: I've too have noticed some nice vocabulary words comin from your posts. Hell, if they don't agree with you, at least they learn something! Well done! I've heard/read "hubris" a bunch of times...i still don't know what it means!

Hubris is proud arrogance to a fault. It is usually the primary cause of a "fall" in Greek myth.

Your "jedi skills" are just numbers in a computer file, used in a skill vs skill RPG system on the ground. In case you missed the memo, Space is a twitch game.

So, ladies and gents can anyone tell me where skill is derived from in a twitch based game?

Hey Deuce, not to rain on your parade (well, maybe a light sprinkle), but considering the number of posts about the use of Bomber Strike, Epulse, vampiric repair, and IFF scrambling, we pilots aren't completely independent of mechanics based skills. Not that we're 100% dependent on them (I couldn't tell you the last time I used IFF spoofing), I'd say we're above the 90% mark of personal skill mattering more than mechanics, but they do play a role.

Also consider droid commands, its not an overlarge stretch to make the connection between Force Healing and CapShunt, Engine Overload and ForceRun, and so on.

Now before y'all tie up a second noose, there's no way in hell I'd support any kind of Jedi handjobbing out here. They want the Ace tag and bragging rights, they earn it the hard way. One of the key DIFFERENCES in our abilities versus Jedi abilities is that we've all got'em, there's no elitism of mechanics at the Ace level, we all draw out of the same grab bag with our eyes open, so if we pick a bad set up, the blame is strictly our own, not the Devs, not lag, latency or just plain rotten rolls of a random number generator. Some of our "twitch" skill involves our gray matter as well as our white matter upstairs.

"IFF spoofing"? Sounds like you're fishing for space-'sploits.

But i like the term "handjobbing" so i'm not gonna say anything!

Just gonna look at some porn and do a little ---------------"space-sploiting!"
