How do you achieve this on a rykhx with level 7 parts ?

If you have a prob with a gunboat and it will follow you pull it to one of your faction station or the nearest allies. Wait untill it gets agro from the npc pilots and do straffing run until you take out is engines. Then with your allies dostroy the Gunboat. I'm on Bloodfin and haven't played the ground game since JTL came out if ya need help just give a tell to Lu'Sankya and I can get a few pilots together.
I'm currently an Imperial Pilot so I can help with Pirate missions.

On Shadowfire, we created a Pilots' chat. One of our regulars boasted that last night's corvette was the 22nd he'd helped with. Set something like that up on your server and advertise it in your galaxy forum. While some pilots pass through and don't spend much time in chat after they master, a lot stayed on to help other pilots. As always, if you need help - offer help first.

Mission gunboats tend to chase people around now, rendering such tactics useless. As they hit hard with a lot of guns and have awfully thick shields and armor, you can't engage them with typical methods (not very well, anyway), which means that, unless you're aware of alternate tactics like some of the ones discussed in this thread, they can seem to be virtually impossible.
Which, now that I've thought about it, makes threads like this understandable, and if those of us who like how JTL makes us adapt want to keep that difficulty in the missions, it's probably wise to share our methods with those having a tough time at it rather than impugn their pilot skills.

I thought the original poster was just complaining about GB's in general, that SA mission is rough. I am rebel pilot, but helped a buddy do it. It took a group of 6 of us 2 tries to nail it, but we came up with a good tactic, and a good froup of ships...2 Rikxerks, 2 X and 2 A wings. broke into 2 fighter groups with 1 of each type of ship after killing the escort, and then we went to town each group taking a turn charging the GB. Took us 3 passes of 3 ships to kill it. The Awings were used to draw the fire and the Xwings and Rik's were used to unleash firepower

Good for you... doesn't mean you can't give a few hints to other people. In this specific case, IMHO, this gunboat is a little too hard compared to the difficulty progression : I have been able to solo all the way up to this mission (ie. it was a trifle too easy...), but all of a sudden this feels like hitting a concrete wall. If anything, i would say don't change the AI, just tune the turrets so they aren't quite so deadly (they are deadly accurate, no matter how much you shake and roll) and increase shields / shield regen if necesseray. This way, you still have a pretty good fight on your hands but at least you can get in shooting range without being blown to bits before being in firing range.

Good call, Sword, but I suppose this, like so many other things, is another case of the key being in moderation. If you're having a rough time of it, check what other pilots are up to, but there's no need to take everything we say as gospel. If for no other reason than we'll know what you're up to when we run into you in the vacuum.
I'd imagine there's still an awful lot of tactics to be discovered/created yet, though, and particularly when you're going up against unpredictable humans, that stuff tends to evolve in a hurry. For instance, I can tell you what I did in Starsider's last PVP event, but it's definitely not going to be the same loadout or tactics I use in the next one, because every time I match up against a flight of Rebels I learn I'm doing something stupid I need to change.
Anyway, I'd hope it doesn't come to a point where a bunch of stuffy pilots point to a "How To Solo Alderaan" sticky every time someone comes in asking for advice in making it through a mission, but I'd bet against that. No way a group with such big egos (in a healthy way!) as hotshot pilots ever agree on anything.

So it comes to this...
Using Tomorainer's excellent suggestions, I strafed, strafed, strafed, barely managing to survive each pass. Armor eventually gone. Shields a thread. Finally I kill the reactor of thegunship.
Several more passes. Then,at the WORST possible moment, I rubberband. So I get my face chewed foranother two seconds and my shields are gone, then my booster, engine.
And I think, this is it. I'm going to kor vella and become a tailor.
Butsomehow I slide past andpermanently damage my keyboard byjabbing the/iffscramble hotkey with all my might.
My engine is gone, I'munable to turn, my capacitor is still (somehow) working. I wait a few minutes, preparing myself for pitiful death but unwilling to eject. Cause I'm going to /pulse this mofo if it's the last thing I do.
And, to cut a long story short, it blows up on its own. Mission over (after some nonsense with some dantooine ace).
So,I think this counts. I've solo'd it.
One observation: It was a glorious, glorious moment. No denying that. I think I actually scared my dog when I screamed "REDEEMED!"
But I still believe this mission is way too difficult. The gunship is far, fartoo overpowered.

Before I mastered, I too thought missions were ridiculous at the high end of pilot. Once I mastered and went back to ships and components that I could've used before master, I've improved my ships to 99% of perfection. Now I have been able to solo everything in the game in my xwing and awing using non master stuff. For instance, the aggressor used to be impossible, but now that my ship is completely suped up, even the vette is just plain fun and no longer a threat.
Either ask master pilots for help or work on improving your ship and you'll understand what I mean. Don't worry either, most master pilots have little left to do in space, so virtually all of them are willing to help. Either way, it's doable, just not so simple that you can walk through it by yourself without having to change something.

Alternatively .. post what server your on and I'm sure some real Aces will be happy to help you out. I know I find most of my enjoyment now from helping others get up to ace.
I always like to hear wow you made that look easy.

I was helping some guys run their missions they couldn't get past, I read things in groupchat like we might as well not even try to fight with Ezis in the group, to which I respond "are you saying I'm fat?" My favorite comment ever was "Ok we'll go in and keep the fighters off you. Wait, where's the nova?" Comment going back to them is "I already destroyed it."
Just find a real true Ace Pilot that knows what he's got and what he's capable of, you're guaranteed success.

Think you're going to master pilot? Think you're going to do it alone or even with the occassional help of a friend? Think again!
XPnot gated missions, must be the way to advance to master pilot. This is no longer fun.
At first, I liked the the gated mission approach. Not any more. I am a smuggler's alliance pilot. The first mission in the master pilot box is (not completely but might as well be) impossible. This mission begins with about six tie oppressors. They are easily dispatched. Then a gunship with four firesprays comes next.
Firesprays? They're nothing. Boom, boom, boom, boom.
Then comes the gunship.
The gunship is impossible to destroy solo or aided.
I realize these ships are now invincible because master pilots complained it was too easy to master the profession. The rest of us who come after are, therefore, in a catch-22. If you haven't mastered freelance pilot, you ain't going to do it.
SOMETHING has to be done about this. I tried this mission solo several times and failed. I then tried with the help of a master pilot friend. We both failed twice. Then I tried with a 4-4-4-3 pilot and a 4-4-3-3 pilot as wingmen. Again, we failed twice.
I've been playing this game since it launched. I love JTL and I adore SWG with all of my heart. But this is not right. And remember, for all of you ?-?-?-? pilots who aren't supernaturally gifted with a joystick, this will haunt your quest to master the professiontoo.
I just want to fly my yt1300. Is that so wrong?

my friend soloed that gunship, died the first time
but yeh, many times the mission seems impossible, the limits unleapale, the odds unbendable, but just keep trying

You gotta be kidding me... i solo gun ships all the time its like the easiest thing to kill if you know what your doing... i was in deep space the other day killed atleast 20.... gained alot of fp around.. just stay behind the ship at 540 m + away so it doesn't hit you, your hitting range is up to 550 m just stay between 540 to 550 m range.... disable the 2ng gun which is the back and waallaa you got your gun ship....
