Thread: pilots: we must change this!

psikobunny,
I'd have to say you didn't read the whole thread. I did SA tier 4 exit TWICE in the last two weeks...solo and with no problems.
I flew up behind and blasted to kill, stuck right on it throughout it's manuevers. Only one of the two times did I have to run for the spacestation for repairs.
So whatever you think has changed it didn't stop me and others from soloing it.
I'm not talking about your post, or the way you solo'd it. I quoted Narrganocca, who posted the standard cheese method for taking a pathed gunboat. You weren't 550m away when you stuck with him were you?

This missontakes, from loading screens to the point where I'm vaporized, about 30 minutes to fly. Minimum, I've spent four hours on this mission.
If I want a sense of accomplishment, I'll go take out the trash. I'm here to have fun. This is a roadblock. Personally, I think its just anotherartificial constraint placed on players like the now vanished 10-minute shuttle wait.
Guess how long it took me to kill 30 ties in Kessel when Kessel was stil PVP zone and everybody and their mother was still doing PVP? ![]()
I nearly ate my keyboard after getting destroyed on the last 3 ships for about the 10th time, logged came back 4 hours later, finished the mission and boy I was happy and satisfied.
NowAggressors are my most beloved targets ![]()

Either sit back and get a goodgroup ( theres a lot of masters out there that are not really worth the money
) to do the mission or learn how to kill bungoats, I mastered corsec/reb/smuggler alone except for the corvette, it IS doable but not easy.
As a hint: you can shoot further then a bungoat, try finding the distance where you can hit it and match speed, if the bungoat turns and eats your shields, break, shunt and repeat.
Use the ptrap once the escort is wiped, they are dead in 1-2 shots but they attract some of the bungoats guns.
Target the engines first because an engine less bungoat is a dead bungoat.
And: Spacebombs are your friend, so if you decide to get a master to help, look for one with a dual spacebomb launcher (y-wing or b-wing for example) and let them cripple the gunboats engines.
I also did the mission mentioned in this thread, before I mastered, and yes, gunny is tough, but very much killable.
Without any overloads, the Gunboats in kessel would own me, They are really tough to kill. Now I kill probably 3 or 4 daily.
This is incorrect in the case of the SA tier 4 exit mission : it shoots about 100m further than you.
The strafing strategies : i am fairly curious how you are executing this as the turrets will chew you long before you even get to it (with 2400 shields overloaded 3). Assuming you are going in all 3 guns blazing, even with a really good capacitor, you won't have a whole lot left to shunt to the shields which guarantees you a trip to the station. This gunboat also has shields that will withstand over half a dozen space bombs (mark I).

Use co3 and wo3 and you won't be able to budge your cap energy.
As for strafing runs; coming in on a curve definitely helps you avoid some of the turret fire. I do most of mine from below and behind.
Speed is also another factor that will make or break you against gunboats. Have a fast engine, use eo3 and have some kind of booster, even just a small one. Not muchwill help you avoid turret fire more than cruising at over 1200 and boosting for over 1400.
