Just thought i'd mention that in order to avoid any misshaps in DS when farming, just rename your ship to "FactionFarmer"

I found that it eases alot of the potential tension. Just be honorable about it and stricktly farm. (thats the hard part, ensuring that the person will stay honorable)

Yeah that's not something I can do. Personally if I see a ship named "Faction Farmer" I am going after that ship even harder then I would any other overt. There are 2 reasons why faction farmers get no pitty from me.....

1) If it's red it's dead. That's it. No exceptions. I wouldn't expect special treatment or for someone to send me a /tell asking if I was farming FP or players. The minute you go overt you know the risks. If you don't want those risks but still want to FP farm then I recommend farming in the other glactic systems. You won't get as much FP as in DS or Kessel but you'll be far more safe. Although on Shadowfire we patrol all systems just in case. The ONLY exception for not shooting a red dot is while people are loading. Loadkillers are lower than low and should all be lined up and shot in the kneecaps.

2) Why should I let you (Rebs)farm faction? Why should I give you the chance to buy more bases, make more rank, buy troops, mines, and so on? I want to keep you down. I don't want to give you a fighting chance. I want to keep turrets out of your bases and keep your faction membes Privates. Such is the nature of war. If you want FP you better get it on the ground because you won't be met with anything but a flash of light and a cut scene of your ship blowing up.

Were I a Rebel the last thing I would do is let an Imp farm faction. Each faction point gets that imp closer and closer to an ATST. And while one ATST isn't much to deal with 5-10 can be a nightmare.

So if you go overt, accept the risk, show some backbone, and take your medicine.

Only thing I don't attack is POB....taking them out is like dropping a thermal detonator into a barrel of goober fish. Unless they give me permission of course....

If someone said that to me then id waste them. No quarter given! Im at war and when I see a legitimate enemy target I attack. Yes, Im arrogant, yes, Im a braggart, but with my pilot skills you end up like that

Anyway, in 15 mins I blew up 3 JSFs and 2 Oppressors plus one of those freelancers I cant pronounce in Kessel one day. Luckily most of the tells where "Wow, I didnt see you coming (Hell, to showoff to my wingman I flew 100m of the tail of the freelancer while he manouvered to kill NPCs for several minutes!)!"

I spent the next 30 mins to an hour explaining to them that I fly overt PERMANENTLY and when I meet another overter he will meet a cold death in hard vacumn or a hot death by superheated plasma - his choice. One of them said they use Kessel because they always die in DS. I pointed out that if I see him in Kessel he will die but in DS he will at least get the free repair. He said "what repair?".

I sighed, hit joy button 3 (better than slapping my keyboard) targetted another of the Emperors mindless minions and set about my task of freeing the galaxy of oppression one JSF at a time with my usual dark humour and ultra violence!

That is great! I've always felt that the difference between a good pilot and a great pilot is the ego. The ego fuels that reckless abandoment of fear that all great pilots have. If I thought for one second that I wasn't better than every other rebel pilot out there I'd be dead before I even launched. of course I've been shot down before...we all have...and while the old ego may get slightly bruised from time to time it heals and I add more names to my killboard. But as good as I am I know there's alway a bigger fish. And when I find that bigger fish I'll cook and eat it.

lol I do the same thing...get in and fly with them for a bit while they are grinding or farming. Then do a fly-by and tap their wing just to let them know I'm there and that it's time for them to go back to the space station.

Also Perma-overt. Personally I think if you fly a faction ship you should be overt. It's allot more exciting. even if you're a lower tier pilot, if you fly overt all the time it will do wonders for your situational awareness.

Very nice!!! I have allot of respect for you..well...for a dirt rebel anyway. It's a shame there isn't a JTL server we pilots could go to. A space only server where pilots from all galaxies could meet and battle. I'd love to fly against you and add your name to my list. I'm just too damn lazy to grind another pilot on another server. Oh well...you give 'em hell on Chi and I'll keep them grounded on SF. /salute

Meh, I'm more of an egotistical ass on here than I am in game. I've actually had a lot of action recently...57:6 now - up from 51:6 just a few days ago.

...more and more people on my server and learning I can walk the walk as well as talk the talk.

BTW, if you're reading, Washell, I now have certified kills (i.e. experience) against JSF and Bel-22 targets. So you've kinda lost your edge - I know their slants and hitspots now. Of course, it helps that I practice my dogfighting gunnery against T4/T5 Droid Fighters, and long-distance (500-600m non-sighted) gunnery against T1 DFs in Nabooian space, so hitting pinheads (both shipwise and driverwise) isn't anything new to me.

Excellent Original post mate

Some serious attitude kicking around out there in the void and you gotta say people coming into space in there spangly new JSF's and going overt are just asking for it in my opinion, particulary if you are a Rebel Pilot.

I was out in DS a couple of nights ago in my newly fitted out Bel-22 and got jumped by 3 imp's loitering near the SD, 2 Flying JSF and one flying a Krayt.

A furious dogfight developed, which was superb fun with the end result 5:2 to me.

One of the guys was very poilite about the whole business, but one just kept spamming me with hate tells saying i was cheating, etc.

I don't do a lot of PVP just because of this kind of aftermath, I love a good dogfight but getting this kinda abuse is pretty chronic.

I must say the only part of the game thats pretty much skill based is the flying aspect and I think the contrast to the ground game is just a bit too much for some people.

You need some skill for this space stuff and at least a few active brain cells.

PS. Us Reb's want a JSF so how about throwing a nice quest in for us with the Delta-7 JSF from Ep2

ROFL well thats noobs for u, they see the film and believe they can do anything with anything, they cant expect to go overt and fly safely, hell i once went into DS to take out the SD, arrived and needed the loo, rushed to and fro come back to find some tie oppressor just blew me to hell with Spacebombs (bit lame that bit)

Sucha nice post..I think I might even cry. Lol no, but thanks, it is good to see I'm not alone on this one. Originally when I started the thread I thought I might even be extradited from the pilot community and sentenced to 1000000 years communal work aggroing lvl 80 Torton nests for hunting groups. I wasn't so yay etc...

I recently heard of some JSF on Bria who apparently is 51:0 pvp wise, an Imperial and lives practically in DeepSpace, so I'm either blind and have never noticed them or come into range...or they're lying [or we play at different times ], however I do know they got some pretty good stuff on their ship so I want to duel them just to see how my A-wing holds out.

Coming back to the kill ratio thing. Personally, I think its a load of rubbish. Anyone can pull out an impressive sounding number out of thin air and until some kind of score board ranking thing comes to JTLS, well people can keep their ratios. I'm not doubting that people are lying [well I am really but what're you going to do?] but I just don't think that a pilot can personally vouch for themselves on their successes and how good they are. That is a right reserved for your peers only. I don't know...thats just me and I'm pretty wierd.

The only thing I count is how many times I've died...which isn't many. Its about 4 in the last three months. The goal being to keep up a good level of pvp kills, without obsessing over how many I got [for one thing, the skill of the 'average' pilot on Bria at the moment isn't all too fantastic so even against JSF kills at the moment, I don't come out of a fight thinking "yay, way to go Leaph"..if anything, I come out depressed that they didn't kick mybehind into the afterlife because I'm flying an A-wing and really should..if anything being made to try harder for my kills against these new ships]

But anyway, back to the 'goal'. This being as I said to maintain a good pvp kill rate..i.e flying overt etc, making a number of kills, but mainly to see how long I can survive. Bare in mind folks that a 'kill ratio' of 5:0 would be better than a ratio of 16:4 on a mean scale type of view since 16:4 would really be 4:1 and on a 'realistic' scale, after one death in space..you'd probably be dead for good. Maybe I should stop now..I'm rambling.

But to finish, yes I sound self righteous, yes I probably don't make much sense and yes, I don't care[well do but saying I don't sounded funny]but the thing is...what I've said and with what I always say..I'm willing to change my point of view if faced with somthing more sensible or filled with more wisdom, so erm..peace and er..stuff.

-Leaph
