Not that I disagree with the notion of actually learning as you go up Pilot, as I agree getting someone upto master quick is a waste of time, as they are useless with no real experience.

HOWEVER, I think people are a little too sure of themselves here, in the end the sad fact is this expansion is just like the Ground game. The uber components make things easy, but if you don't have them by the bucket load, and have to settle with standard crap, things area hell of a lot tougher solo.

yes the mission is hard but I completed it with the assistance of only 1 other person

the trick really is to target the gunships systems I won't give away which ones first so those that like to figure these things out on their own can.

by the way if you think that mission is impossible wait til you get the last one

Even though it has been said, I completely disagree. JTL is great because of the story based missions. It is not just grinding. Anyone can grind. Anyone can make master. The story based version requires effort, i.e., its challenging. I mastered smuggler alliance pilot less than a week ago. It was hard. Very hard. It took me 5 tries to beat the mission you are talking about. I did it with a rebel who was 3 3 3 3. It felt great when we did beat it. It was a great experience that made flying all the more fun.

So, please don't turn JTL in to just a grind. There is enough of that in other places. The stories add character and challenge.

Hm... I mastered privateer back when Kessel was still pvp (friendly fire really adds to the experience when out of 15 people in your group 12 can hit you on the vette run ), and while the AI might have been worse I'd think using no droid programs and no^"stay at 550 meters" tactics evened it out. Basically, from what I remember we had 2 rihkxyrks and 1 X-wing for most missions, and just blasted the thing to smithers.

I was thinking along those same lines. A lot of the people who've responded here probably hit Ace within the first couple of weeks. Droid interfaces were bugged so no one used them. Even if you did, there wasn't any reactor overload or shunt to shield. No one had the uber loot. No one knew any advanced tactics. Kessel was wild and wooly. I got wasted a couple times by other players out there. Yet, here we are with our Ace titles. Now I know how Day One veterans feel when noobs complain about things.

Take the advice given here on strafing runs and patience. Do NOT just blast your way in with blind rage before you set a good approach where you will have a good arc, avoid the most fire and do the most damage.

If you are not using the appropriate level of reactor overload, engine overlaod, weapon overload, capacitor overcharge and the highest level of capacitor to shield shunt you can, then you are half the pilot you could be and would have no one to blame, but yourself. Flight commands are NOT optional for a quality pilot.

If anything I would like to see MORE story based missions. They are actually interesting whereas the duty missions and just grinding xp bites.

It would be nice if some of the longer ones were persistent so that if you were told to target a certain ship because it carried an irreplacable person and you take that ship out just to find that there are seven more steps to the mission after that, the "irreplacable" person would stay dead. Overall the story missions were well done.

Now they just need to scatter more NPC spacemissions all over the cities and countryside. Some mixed land and space missions would be cool for those with combat skills as long as they remember not all pilots can fight on the ground and don't make all of them that way. Mixing the space and ground games would go a long way towards making SWG/JTL feel like one game and not two games played with a common character.

I don't think my posts are as schizophrenic as you're making them out to be. You must understand, it waswritten out ofdeep frustration afterseveral attemptsand a feeling that I can't get past the mission, even with aid.

I never said, as has been suggested, I simply wanted an easy road to master. For one thing, this kind of xp doesn't come in a day's worth of "grinding." I've been set back on other missions, sometimes time after time. But never have I just been totally defeatedagain and again and again.

And if I wanted to just cruise around space, I've got the yacht.

So, I still believe that if you get the 7.5 million xp _ or perhaps double it to 15 million to satisfy thosewho want to keep the gatekeeper approachthe preffered method_ you should be able to master the profession. At this point, after more than a dozen tries, I'd go for 15 million xp over this one, horribly difficult mission.

Or perhaps aftera dozenattempts ( I know this would never work because of cheaters), Nirmale could say "Man, you suck. Attack these10 squads of Tie oppressors instead."

However, I'm going to keep at it until my trigger finger breaks off.Thesuggestions have been superb, and I see thatI shouldn't have been sostark with my initial comments. But is this really the best way to gate the master box?

Thanks especially to Tomo for the excellent suggestions.

Like I said, I had no real problem with two characters doing SL solo through the first part of the master requirements.

When it came to the corvette I found the easiest thing to do was to just fly out to it every day at peek hours until I found a group in the process of killing it and to join them. If I'm not mistaken all you have to do is get one missle hit on the bridge and maybe one or two other components and still be in the zone when it's destoyed.

I also, on neither character, spent tons of credits on uber components. Nearly all I used were ones I'd looted from previous levels though I did buy player components like reactors and armor for thier low mass. I stayed in my Dunelizard until I bought a Kimogilathen at theTier 4 exit mission bought my Rihkxyrk. All in all it was not very expensive and the loot sales more than paid for all the costs.

fall in behind the gunship..close to exactly 550 m. match speed, shoot to kill. you are in a near blind spot, using cap to shield shunt 4 with cap overload 3 or 4, you MAY have to pull out to recharge shields once before blowing it to smithereens. remember target a gunships shield generator first, then weapons, then engine, then destroy...Also if you are slightly below it, there is only 1 gun on the belly. gunboats are still easy, but you cant just charge in

Dude, did you read the thread? Have you flown this mission in the last month? Its not a normal gunboat AIthat sticks on a path, the 550m cheese doesn't work.

>>The first mission in the master pilot box is (not completely but might as well be) impossible.

Killing 30 ships in kessel is EASIEST as a privateer in SA because EVERYTHING is yellow to you. Pick and choose your targets in saftey.

>>This mission begins with about six tie oppressors. They are easily dispatched. Then a gunship with four firesprays comes next.
Firesprays? They're nothing. Boom, boom, boom, boom.
Then comes the gunship.

Oh, you mean the teir 4 exit mission. You know if you have a fast Rhyxirk all you have to do is disable the reactor on a good hard pass, fly back to starport and get repairs if needed, By this time the gunship will have autodestructed, you get credit anyway, go back and mopp up the escorts. Piece of cake, did it my first try. If you didnt need repairs the escorts will follow you out of range of the gunship, so mop up, either way, piece of cake.

Fly smarter, not harder.

psikobunny,

I'd have to say you didn't read the whole thread. I did SA tier 4 exit TWICE in the last two weeks...solo and with no problems.

I flew up behind and blasted to kill, stuck right on it throughout it's manuevers. Only one of the two times did I have to run for the spacestation for repairs.

So whatever you think has changed it didn't stop me and others from soloing it.
