Thread: Quick Poll: JSF/Grievous Do you even fly em anymore?

I fly my eta2 nearly all the time now. The REed part I had in my dunelizard transfered over to it perfectly and I've never been too fond of any of the freelance ships and missed not having a small ship option that the eta2 gives me.

Keep the flames down in this thread folks.. it was a simple question. Do YOU fly it anymore?

Just curious on preferences not weether or not it's coanon, or makes sense... oh yeah, in regards to the whole "control set" arguement. If you just learned how to fly a B2 bomber, how well do you think you'd do flying a B-17? Ancient technology right?

B17 fly a good 30 years before the B2. ETA Actis 2 fly what, 20 years before the XWing? Wasn't the Eta Actis also "top of the line" 20 years before the XWing? Yeah, control sets change a bit, but I don't see where that really applies here.

Not too mention.. who cares? I was just wondering what you like to fly... LMAO!

In the bank with the JSF.

My Imperial pilot flies the Royal Guard TIE, and my Rebel Alt flies the Heavy Z or the Advanced X-Wing for those times when real firepower is needed.

The others are nice to have, just don't use 'em.

I like my Bellubab, mostly because its fast and has 2 guns... Then again I'm only 4-3-3-3 Pilot, but still, the boosters I got make it looks like Hot Rod Exhaust comin off the side and makes it look sweet.. A fast ship is a good change from using slow ships like the Kimogila personally

I never read the devs say anyhting about controls as being the issue, and if they did...its absurd. It is not an issue of controls. Any pilot of a Deci for example should be able to pilot a YT-1300. But the Empire doesn't fly YT-1300s. Rebels would see no reason to fly a TIE when they have the Xwing. Privateers would be in some serious trouble if they were flying the Deci. Vader would hunt down and kill a rebel flying his ship. I agree about the ARC-170. The devs really screwed that up. Clearly the devs designed 2 Imperial quests, then realized they had nothing for the Rebels so they gave the Rebels the ARC-170 to balance it all out.

Well, guess what. A Decimator pilot can't fly a YT-1300 because in Galaxies, you need certifications to fly things. I think the controls thing is covered in the paper manual or the help files.
Yes, right, the all-powerful Vader will hunt me down for taking the 134,125th copy of 'his' ship.
My point is actually that giving the JSF to Imperials is unbalancing in and of itself.

And none of your comments address the central problem, which is WHY did SOE decide to make the deeds tradable but still limited by a quest flag?

That is a no brainer. I'll tell you why. I am an Imperial. I like the ship and wear it down to almost nothing. Another Imperial in my guild has it, but only joy rides in it. I offer him some creds for a trade and suddenly.....I have a new ship again, and he can zip around just fine as well. Both of us are Imperial. If a Rebel wants to go Imperial to get it so be it, the quest is the gate on the ship. But any Imperial that has done the quest can trade it around or sell it to another Imperial wanting a second one for a different config.

Uhh...that's not the answer to my question. That's the result of the design.

Let's try again: Why are there two items in the game that everybody with Pilot 4xxx has certifications for, but the use of the items is limited by a quest flag?

I'll tell ya, If I were in a position where I was grinding pilot, I'd probably use the JSF or Grievous at that point, definately helpful (though the Heavy ships are nice for that too).

I have nothing against these ships, but I have noticed their use among the Ace's on my server going down considerably.

Let me actually answer the poll:

for PvE, I use a higher-mass ship.

for PvP, the best turn acceleration and best speed modifier are what I'm after.

I gave you the answer. If you chose not to agree with it that's your problem not mine. Everyone has the cert. Some, because of their faction have to work harder to get it. As for trading, locking to to one player prevents those that have done the quest from buying another fromsomeone who has no desire to use it.

You two ought to get married the way you fight y'know that?

The thread is supposed to be if you fly the frame or not, not an on-going argument that has been dragged out over and over again. Jeez... take it to PM or something maybe?

If it's an answer to the question "Why have a quest flag?" you want, then try this:

It's something for the player to do. Instead of just giving it away, if someone wants it they have to experience the Imperial side of the GCW. In the process that takes a little time, and opens up new things like the Imperial Theme Park and what not, so maybe the player tries all that out, keeps playing SWG longer and makes that monthly payment to SOE a while longer instead of getting bored and quitting the game. Maybe the quest flag is all about the $$.

Happy now?

Probably not, but c'mon, give it rest.

Then IMHO... going by that.. I would fly... (I'm imperial btw...)

  • PvE: FireSpray

  • PvE: Oppresor <== Currently my Mining Fighter

  • PvE: Aggresor

  • PvP:Royal Guard TIE Intercepter

  • PvP:TIE/LN Prototype (the new SW crafted Heavy TIE)

  • PvE/POB Operations:Y-8 Mining Vessel (It works fine for mining with a crew of 2 or more, works REALLY well in Deep Space almost completely replacing my Decimator)

By the way, that is exactly what I have in my datapad now for pretty much the reasons you laid out. My PvE ships can take damage like no other. My PvP's are manuevorable and I focused more on survivability than damage output. My POB is geared the same as I had my Decimator and I keep enough cert 10 guns on hand to swipe it out from mining to deep space duty.

The expandable foils were a design idea of Anakin Skywalker, a modification he added to his delta-7 which then went (like many other modifications of Anakin's delta-7) into the design of the eta-2 actis Interceptor.

It was however not ion collectors but supposedly added for better stability in athmospheric flights (see the starwars.com/database entry about Anakin Skywalkers customized Jedi Starfighter for reference).

They've been called a lot of things, but what makes the most sense and comes straight from background info released at the time of the first trilogy (referring to the TIE's ofcourse)is that they are radiators to get rid of excess heat.
