If it wasnt for the lag and my name being already used, id have moved to SS.
But, 200-300 MS ping time was a MAJOR turn off to me,
Hah! Try playing from New Zealand. 230 ping is about my average.
Just the same, Valcyns an awesome server, and has far more JTL organization then bria.
I think im gonna have to get more active in the community there. I tend to login and just hide from people while following my own self imposed agenda (IE, "ok. gotta do this, then do that, mine this asteroid here, go run around over there, think ill tinker with this, fiddle with that" etc)

I know... what I wouldn't give for 15k more mass... I don't want to, but I think I'll have to go with the Advanced.

All i can say, is beware the A wing with an RE'd L8 engine. They have the mass to pack em in, and their going to turn alot tighter then a T/I with a prenerf L6 engine.

Thats pretty much what i had planned in the tourney. Although i detest chinmounted guns with a fervant passion, the fact that im pretty sure every A wing driver with a clue is going to be sporting an RE'd QID, is what motivated me to kit one out.
As i recall, i had an RE'd QID, MK IV shield (thanks again btw), twin L6 guns..etc etc.. err why am i telling you this, you were online helping me kit it out at the time

Okay, it was a nice vid, but I do have a couple of suggestions, in case you choose to do this again:
1) First of all -the camara setup was pretty flowed, in my opinion. Taking vid of people just shooting at each other in space doesn't really turn me on, nor does it give me the ability to judge their piloting abilities. Get some of your other pvpers to dlfraps, and have them record. I'd much rather see GOOD pilots trying to shoot one another, then to see a bunch of lasers blasts firing around.
The video was designed as both entertainment and propaganda, *not* a documentary on pilots. If you want to judge the skills of our pilots, try flying against some of them. Besides, fraps slows down frame rate enough for a lot of us that it wouldn't be practical to be flying and frapsing. Some of us were suffering enough lag from the thirty pilots plus asteroids in the area.
2) Get rid of the voices, I found them very annoying (yes, I know I could just turn it off, which I did). Put some music on there instead... Good times.
Using XWA's voice recordings was really innovative, and something I haven't seen in an SWG video before. I didn't make the video, but I compliment the maker, Addy. Most videos use music--that was something that I felt set it apart and helped set the mood for the video. If you didn't like it, well, that's a difference in artistic tastes.
3) As another poster said, the entire thing seemed very staged. Somehow I serioulsy doubt a pilot would choose to fly a B-Wing, or even an X-WIng, in a PvP match. If this is so, the variation was very apparant, and frankly unnecessary. If otherwise, you need to find better pilots who won't choose a B-Wing or a TIE fighter
I would recommend you retract your statement about "better pilots." Justbecause *you* think a B-wing or heavy TIE or X-wingisn't suitable for battle, doesn't mean someone else can't take it, use it, and be effective. Some of the best pilots on Starsider on the Rebel side have X-wings as their chosen craft and can outfight ninety percent of the Imperial pilots flying TIE Advanced or Interceptors. I was flying an Actis, and you know who I called for help when I was in trouble? Two X-wing pilots from my guild.Starsider has relatively avoided the "composite in space" that we hear complaints about on other servers (although we do have our fair share of relic-flyers, myself included). We're not all about trying to be uber. We pick our own craft and we enjoy the battles we fight.
That pretty much does it... Looking forward to the next vid!

Hehe, and I thought I was the only one who did that. ![]()
I also might add that I think some of the video criticisms might be a bit unwarranted. I think the goal (as best I can tell) was to present a 'Classic Star Wars Space Battle' in a more cinematic way via the SWG engine -and I think they did a fairly good job in that regard (if you compared the footage to the space battles from the films, they're fairly similar in style). The XWA dialogue helped this atmosphere quite a bit giving the film a bit of a plot/purpose. Think of it as a Star Wars short rather than a video demonstrating PvP. ![]()

To piggy back on hayln, Xwings are not to be under estimated.
They're about as responsive as a T/A. Whats more, being in front of an Xwing outfitted for PvP is like being put infront of a firing squad with a rapid fire shotguns. Just hearing all three rapid fire guns of an Xwing makes my hair stand on end. You come accross an xwing, you get on his fat ass and stay there, and dont ever let him slip out from your sights until his dead.
But.. meh.. the grinding, blech. And im too freaking proud to ask or borrow anything from anyone.

It appears that deeds will transfer. That's a biggy since It's possible to go on a spending spree to convert cash to deeded items and bring those over.

Who are you to say what is and isn't a good idea, a who is or isn'tgood pilot, or awhat is or isn'tgood strategy? As stated many times before, the X-Wing is a VERY viable and effective ship in ANY engagement. I have always flown my X-Wing (and then later theHeavy X) in every PvP battle I have ever been in and have done quite well. I average about 4-6 kills per event with 2-3 deaths. Sure, sometimes it just doesn't work and I leave a battle with 5 deaths and 1 kill, but there are also two separate occasions when I have recorded 10+ kills in a single 1 hour engagement. The point is, although the ship does matter a lot, the single most important part is who is flying it, as well as how it is outfitted. Ill take my three 3.8k dmg blasters (and ifI play my mass right, two 3.8k's and one 5.0k)and IR2 launcher against you anyday. Only need one hit my friend
.
And as for the B-Wing pilot ... that guy is just a beast. I dont even know how he pulled that off, but he did. I dont even think he died, and recorded many kills. You should look him up sometime, mabeyyou'll learn something.
