Thread: Space PvP Starsider Style

Leaph, how exactly does the transfer work? From what I understand, you cant carry money over, right? And nothing in your datapad... so you loose FCs, but you can unload ships and carry all the parts over? And how much can you carry? I assume basically as much as you can hold... clothes, armor, and a full inventory and backpack? (So essentially, 130 items plus whatever you're wearing when you transfer?)
I can answer that.
You can't bring with you:
- Your credits in your bank acount
- Resources (so if your sitting on a 300K brick of 900 OQ/PE high grade polymetric, kiss it bye bye)
- Factory crates
- Houses
- ANYTHING and EVERYTHING in your datapad. (any ships/pets/speeders/waypoints/droids/FC, ALL gets wiped)
What you CAN bring with you:
- Any and all ship parts and chassis. (this includes any prenerf DI's, engines, deeds, etc)
- You can equip a backpack, stuff it full, and THEN fill your inventory with everything you can carry.
- Veteran rewards, holograms, etc take them with you if you want them because their kinda hard to replace
- Ground combat weaponry. (it should be noted that any weapon you bring with you will have 1000/1000 durablity when you arrive on the other server, w/ all slices intact)
- Armor (however i woudlnt bother with armor, as the biolink is lost, and it comes out at 100/100 durablity, so dont waste the space if you ask me)
- Clothing (like armor, it comes out at 100/100 durablity). Ace rewards transfer.
- Credit Chip: ( i did this as an experiment, and i didnt think it would work. While all your millions in the bank is lost, Credit chips, as they reside in your inventory, are transferable. So i highly recommend saving up a fat credit chip before transfering. It helps getting started with buying houses and speeders to get you going)
Your character:
- Your badges remain intact.
- Your factional rank is lost, as well as all FP. You start out as 0/0 faction.
- Your appearance is unchanged. You come out exactly how you left your old server.
- Your name may or may not have to be changed. I highly recommend creating an alt on your target server, and try adding your main characters name to your friends list. If it works, your name is taken, if it doesnt work, then your name is not taken and you wont have to change it.
- Last but not least, YOUR QUEST STATUS IS RESET!. Bummed that you coudlnt do the RGI mission after having done the heavy xwing? Now you can. Did Nymm Gyp ya before? Now you can redo it.

Maybe I'll pay up and get my Freelance (reb ground) Scylla toon (who has no "collectibles" except her Katarn) transfered over to Starsider. Something to think about.
But regardless, I have some questions for some old Starsider folks as well anyone who has transferred characters.
For Starsiders:
- What kind of availability is there for chassis' and parts? Looking for a good quality/price mix here. I don't mind paying a high price for decent gear but hate to pay an outrageous amount for crap. I eventually want the big kahuna multi-passenger ships too.
- What is the availability of the various repair kits? (I'm making progress, but I still need to make lots of repairs). These first two are important to help me figure out if I should be crafter or combat on the ground.
- Touchy subject. But, is there a dominant faction in space? on ground? Do neutrals throw in to even things up in space?
- Do deeds for items transfer? Things like houses, factories and harvesters?
- What kinds of high value crafted items would you suggest bringing over in a transfer?
- Is there something you would have done differently in your transfer?
- Where can I get cred chips other than as loot? I've been gone for a while and am curious how to add money or even use the cred chip.

Chasses are easy to come by. There's quite a few shipwrights running around and, in my experience, especially easy to come by if you're in a good guild. Parts can be a bit tougher, but crafted stuff isn't too hard to come by. Don't expect to buy good REed gear, though.

Most pilots tend to repair in space, and therefore few shipwrights seem to stock a lot of repair kits. I'm sure most shipwrights would be happy to provide them on request, though.

Tricky question. First off, space. I'd tend to say the Imperials are a bit more dominant. The last event was a Rebel victory, but I'd put part of that to the reappearance of a couple of old-timer Rebel aces and a relative lack of their counterparts among the Imperial side.
On the ground...well, I'm not really sure there. Depending on the time and place, PvP battles swing both ways it seems. I know a lot of my guildmates have been PvPing quite a bit on the ground (all Rebels) and doing well, but I have to give the Imperials credit for their share of victories as well.
But, 200-300 MS ping time was a MAJOR turn off to me, and then.. like.. i wanna know who the hell is Rapax on starsider.. the damn imposter!

I shall find them and bait them with poisoned Donuts.
Well..not if they're Rebel...possibly
