Thread: Eta-Actis II Jedi Starfighter
It's rewarded through an Imp-only quest. Apparently, the deed can only be unpacked by the player who completed the quest. Same goes for the ARC-170, except it's Rebel-only. Yet, both factionsare certified for both ships.
I'm just trying to determine if this is a bug (the inability to acquire and unpack the ship w/o doing the quest) that needs to be worked out or if this is working the way it was intended to work. Ya know, I'd like to know...before I change factions...lol.

ahm, jedis use their senses to drive this ship so thats why its a JEDI starfighter...
Let me guess we have a Jedi or Jedi lover lecturing us about how content dictates why Jedi should be the only ones who can fly this ship. As far as content goes the glowbats you claim should be the only ones flying this ship shouldnt even be in game so please dont use content to justify a cause for the jedi.
EITHER we need the cert removing from the rebel ( and I'm guessing the ARC cert removing from imp ) OR it needs the quest requirement removing. I simply do not have the time to drop from 4343 ( training error on the first level 4 box ) rebel pilot with -800 imp FP's to gain the imp FP's, do the quest ( AGAIN - I did it on an alt who is a noob pilot and non-factioned ) then releran rebel pilot etc.
This to me is a VERY big issue as it's essentially bad advatising ( and a little inconsistent as strictly speaking the bellabub is as much an imperial ship as the JSF ) in so much as there is nothing to indicate this ship is different to any other certed ship ( including the bellabub which can be flown by a non-quest completed person - assuming that it is quested )
Not all rewards are possible by all players or professions, I like the ST rifle but have 0 rifle skills. If someone is a Rebel and is "tempted" to join because of the JSF (as they were back when the AT-ST was worthwhile) that is something an evil empire would do.
Any quest earned reward should, whenever possible, remain usable to the player as long as possible. Its what most every player wants, after all they are doing a quest for it in the first place.
I see the real problem that rebel pilots have is that the ARC-170 is less then perfect, scream to have that fixed and not to have rewards taken from players. Many players changed faction just to get this and we should admire their dedication to pilot to drop rebel and go imp (hard with -5k faction) just to get a ship they want. Many are working on rebel again and taking the chance to try a different squad.

I completely disagree. The cert is in the other faction so YOU as the receiver of the reward can fly it. The Jedi and ARC on in ALL THREE factions box 4s for just this reason, if it were removed people would complain that they "lost" there reward.

Fraid I disagree strongly here, certs on quest rewards are commonplace. Just as a for instance the proton carbine, MBH only, Kataarn knucklers TKM only etc. . If it's going to be quest locked then it needs to be non-tradeable. It IS tradeable therefore it can't be quest locked. Simple really.
Due to the fact it is so good it either needs toning down or making readilly available to all factions. Personally I'd like to see it readilly available.

I Haven't tried it myself yet but I think the ARC would stand a decent chance against on. After all the JSF outmaneuvers it into what? A turret facing straight at it. Get someon in that turret to fire a few rounds at it. Good bragging rights there I would say... I shot down a JSF with a rear turret mwahahah. Aggressor's would be similar I am guessing, Also Krayt... there is one ship for each faction.
As for rebels doing the mission. I wouldn't have a prob with it but they would have to make the ARC imp do-able. And would also have to change the way the JSF is handed over. I am sure Vader himself wouldn't just give it to a rebel. He would more likely just cut the down.
Anakin wasn't just a good pilot... episode 1 when him and Quigon talk about how he flies in the Pod races... he kind of feels a second ahead in the future and can anticipate whats going to happen and what he should do. He does use the force to fly, pod race or whatever he does. That is why he is the only human who can do it.
Having a Jedi I would like to see that help fly a JSF BUT as has been posted doing that starts giving them space advantages as well as ground. I think flight is good as it stands in that aspect. Leave it to individual controls not bonuses.
Have seen alot of nerf cries for the JSF. I think it just comes from the few good pilots who can't start dealing with a more agile ship imo. It might make a bad pilot seem better and harder to fight against. Would it be more fun to say work on a pilots kill/death ratio and then those that have a bad ratio can only use engines with 30 top speed and 30 ypr. Does that make it any more fun for you?
I personally love the JSF but I rarely use it..... For my flight style give me a krayt. I am far to used to the bigger over steering ships. I have gotten to where I can control this to get in behind TIE's etc and stay there pretty well and try to anticipate turns and what my ship is going to do and when to counter turn or counter roll to balance it out. In a JSF I am all over the place. For me its to responisive but in now way am I saying lower the stats.. its fine how it is I just have probs flying it. I think it would be nice for everyone of every faction to be possible to fly all the new ships. Best bet for that would be remove the badge to unpack it. Yes people might start selling them but they will drop in price that much because lets face it, the mission isn't that hard to complete to get it. The only real problem then is for us Shipwrights out there who can't make these so no real ship sales anymore for the smaller ships but there is bound to still be X-wing and Krayt sales. I bet alot of people take up Rebel piloting and love just having an X-wing.
I think the biggest problem is people expecting that everything in JTLS needs to be "balanced" so that they would have SOME advantage against a different type of ship...e.g. no one ship should "overpower" another in pvp...
Well tell you what...ever tried to dogfight a Me109 in a B-17? Its not going to happen.
People needs to understand that some ships are DESIGNED for dogfights, some aren't. If ur in a big, slow, heavy ship with tons of firepower, then please don't expect that you will be able to match something nimble, agile, with less than half your shield/armor hp, and much less firepower, in a turning fight.
All this should be better once they introduce capital ships, so that the heavy fighters have a role in pvp other than against each other: anti-ship. I would imagine people would group up for different types of missions, for example:
Light/medium fighters - Interception, CSP (combat space patrols),and Escorts
Heavy fighters - anti-ship, fleet defense (getting hit by 3 Img-rec mk3s in a JSF would really suck)
Its all up to SOE to see if they'll introduce missions/scenarios/pvp that will utilize all this tho...

Would it be worth it to use an anti-decay kit on the JSF?
is it possible to place an anti decay kit so the chassis wont decay?
I really do want to know WHY this limitation is in place...why can't I fly an ARC-170 as an Imperial, unless I've gone to the Rebel side? From the perspective of the 'in-game reality' as it were, what stops me from doing this?
This is apparently a question only developers can answer, so I politely request that they take 10 minutes out of a busy day and do so.
Thankee

No.
Only things you can insure can be ADK'd.
