Don't count on it being free just because it's there for download.

EQ had an expansion that was limited release in the stores because it was primarily for download through the patch utility.

The CU will be free, but the expansion pack is most likely going to cost.

$25 for the expansion, I'll grab the LA announcement in a sec.

Lucas Arts press release

The asteroid mining sounds like it might actually be interesting. PVE isn't very dangerous at the moment, but they talk as if they'll be juicing up the opposition if you want to get your hands on the space resources.

I don't think we'll see to many Jedi ships in space, they are too busy with fight clubs on my server. Anything that takes pilot skill out of the game and replaces it with leveled ajdustments in will simply kill JTL. Does anyone remember DAoC?

I have spent entire evenings in Deep Space on my server without seeing another person. What ever the Devs do, I hope they bring more people into space, not just a favored few.

wonder how many jedis are pilots, and from those numbers how many are good pilots.

I'm a space jedi too eheh

i agree that jedis should not get any advantage in space... JTL is mostly based on player skill so i se no need to give to some characters any advantage in skills orequipment.

is also true that we don't know the stats of that fighter and if only jedis will be able to use it, maybe is a "free" rare ship as the KSE.

and i hoped too for more content for space, maybe something for merchant, smugglers and groups of players but is also true that probably devs have more surprises for us

The way I see it the Star in the Star Wars universe is very important.

I want to see a really richspace universe and the only way to do it is

having theground game almost the same as thespace one.Alot of

perfesions have alot to do with space or could(smugglers, bounty

hunters first and formost). And space stations could have a big part

with vendors, med centers and the works.

For the argument that JTL should be seprate from the the ground game (Jedi)

here is a thought. Where do you get your money to buy your ships and any

other uber equipment. I have seen alot of greedy Jedi looters and since

it is easier for them to get loot since no other profesion can out damage them

I would say they do have an advantage (higher level anyway).

SWG an empire divided... 60$ X2 120$
Jump to Light speed ........30$ X 2 60$
Rage of the Wookies....... 30$ X 2 60 $
Trials of Obi Wan ............ 30$ X 1 30$ (not 2 because of impending doom)

Paying 1,170$ and spending 1000+ hrs developing charectors and gathering items only to be told go f--- yourself .......Priceless

I agree with your ideas about the expansions and as said i think jedis should have not advantage in space, but i want to reply to the second part.

Is not true that jedis get advantages, they have poor defence so most of the time they can't solo the bigger critters as other chars can do, the grief loot is also dependant mostly by the players, in the past there where problems about loot griefing and camping even from other professions.

Also atm JTL is very separate from the ground, is very difficult to find good high level stuff in vendors, most of the time the best components comes from rewardsand/or RE items that most of the time are not on the market.

To do a decent ship you have not to spend a fortune, consider that probably you can assemble a good ship just with the money a jedi will use to buy a single pearl.

So yes to start and do well in JTL you need to spend some money (not very much), but to put toghater an awesome ship most of the time you have to do it by yourself.

Its been said before, but by all indications, the Star Wars universe has been at a technological platue for thousands of years. You're thinking in terms of earth, where we've had a massive change in technology over a very short period of time. We don't see the same thing happening in the Star Wars universe. The technology of the prequels and the technology of of the old repulblic seems to be just about the same as the technology of the Imperial era. We've seen periods of human history on earth were technological advancement has virtually stopped, or even gone backwards, so its not like such a thing is unheard of or impossible. Another thing to keep in mind is Lucas's influences for the Star Wars setting. One of his supposed influences was Asimov's original Foundation trilogy. The Foundation trilogy tells the story of a galactic empire that's entering into a new dark ages, in which technological advancement comes to a halt and actually goes backwards for a while. I'm not suggesting that the Star Wars universe is slipping backwards in technology, but I do think Lucas was influenced by the idea of an empire in decay in which technological advancement had pretty much come to a standstill.

"For over 1000 generations the Jedi kept order in the galaxy". Yes I will buy that tech stayed the same during that era. BUT there has been war for 25 years and tech is dramatically improving as it always does in war time. The Jedi fighter had to drop its hyper drive off to be able to fly outside of hyper space its a piece of garbage. If its in game i want to be able to blow away its hyper drive it has to leave sitting some place.

New expansion, new planet, new ships and space mining. It's all good

It will be nice to see more pilots in space. And good for my pocketbook too.

If the Jedi Starfighter is going to be "Jedi Only" I will be VERY angry. You can grind quenkers until you're blue in the face but its got sod all to do with what should be available to you in space. Knowing the history of this game, I really wouldn't be surprised if it IS Jedi-only and winds up being the most powerful and manoueverable ship in-game. So much for the "Jedi will gain no extra abilities or bonuses in space" speach we all had.

Food for thought... why should we pay for a ship we can't use?

But, assuming it ISN'T Jedi-only.... I can understand they are trying to bring in some Ep3 content to suit the new film, but why are we getting a 20 yearold fighter instead of any of the many ships that arn't in game but in use during this SW time period? I would much rather have seen a new multiplayer ship like one of the hundreds of YT's

May seem nitpicky, but actually the line is "For over a thousand generations Jedi were the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy."

Guardian of peace and justice is a far far cry from someone who keeps order.

If its only usable by Jedi, I have no problem with it, and I'm a BH. You see, just because I'm not a Jedi, and wouldnt be able to use it if it is only usable by Jedi, doesnt mean my brain stops working. It only makes sense for it to be that way. For those of you that say: "Why should the Jedi have their own ship?" Why not take it a step further and say why should they get their own type of clothes and weapon? Thats ridiculous. The Jedi wear Jedi robes, although, logicaly, their just cloth robes that shouldnt be hard for any tailor to make. The Jedi use lightsabers, which, while not easy to make, shouldnt be impossible given the right technology. The Jedi have very specific fighters they use called Jedi starfighters. The type of ship that is the jedi starfighter is the 'official' starfighter of the Jedi order, just as jedi robes are the official clothing of the order, and the lightsaber is the official weapon of the order.

Now, the YT-1300 is known to be a cargo ship, which makes it good for smuggling, but that is not its sole purpose, and that is why people can use it other than Just smugglers. The Firespray was only used by the Fetts(and Boba only used it because he got it from Jango), but that doesnt make it a BH ship. There is no BH ship, or smuggler ship, because there is no official BH or Smuggler order which has certain things likeuniforms/weapons/ships like the Jedi Order does(or did, before beind destroyed).

By you saying the Jedi starfighter shouldnt be a Jedi only ship, your also saying that Jedi robes shouldnt be Jedi only clothing, and lightsabers shouldnt be Jedi only weapons. If you want to push for that, be my guest, but dont expect to go anywhere. The Jedi starfighter was just as much a part of the Jedi order, during Republic's last days, as were their robes and lightsabers. The jedi temple maintained their own starfighers just as they did clothing and weapons.

All that being said though, Jedi shouldnt get special force powers to use in space w/ their starfighers, as Obi-Wan displayed no such powers in his 'fight' with Jango Fett

If you mean the one w/ the yellow on it, no. That IS the Jedi starfighter II. The one from ep II is not the one thats going in the expansion, it is the ones from ep III, and that is the jedi starfighter from ep III, called the Jedi starfighter II. It's the more advanced(whether it looks that way or not) version.

No need to jump to conclusions this is clearly a trophy ship, just like the FireSpray. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on one, even though I'm not a Jedi just to bang around in.

No, that ship is the Episode III Jedi Starfighter, not the mining ship.

Pics of the new Jedi Starfighter (from the movie of course, not the game) popped up on the net about a year ago, theforce.net was first place I saw them.
