Thread: POLL: Will JTL Keep You Playing Until The Combat Upgrade?

I cancelled all my accounts. JTLS does nothing for me, theres no point in going into space to shoot at crap with no purpose to it. The ground game should of been fixed first period, but SOE had dollar signs in their eyes. With the CR which will take months to finish, you wont see a ground expansion with fun new content for over a year, I finished paying them for their mistakes and lack of concern for the players, Blizzard gets my money now.

Will JtLS keep me playing until the Combat Upgrade?
Well.. yes. But JtLS isn't whats keeping me playing the game. I'd still be playing and having a lot of fun WITHOUT JtLS. JtLS just added heaps and heaps more fun ontop of an already great MMORPG. I can wait for the CU, mostly because right now I'm not to focused on combat anyway. I still hunt or go on hunting events with my org, but I spend most my time in game working on my BE business, keeping myPA running smooth (which isn't hard with my PA) and chatting in guildchat
Let me rephrase.. I can wait for CU.. but that doesn't mean I want to.
I'm a patient man but I am stilll rubbing my hands together with anticipation and hoping I get into the beta for it. I'm sure with the dev team we have (with the huge success of JtLS under their belts and a tightened ship) can make combat the best around (hint to the devs. take a peak at CoH, it has the best combat system in a MMOG hands down. Part of the reason is there is no auto-attack. It means your required to pay attention to the fight and use your various skills to create an advantage). But alas... I can wait but that doesn't mean I want to
I'm sure the devs will do a great job and I hope I get to help them do it

I'm hooked... I'm almost to the point of dropping my beloved Commando to go Shipwright... that's going to be a tough decision.

Do I think JTL is perfect? Not even close.
The training is borked. I love (and ) having the tiers and the missions setup the way they are, but not being able to train within your tier is a little messed up. You shouldn't be able to progress until you finish all of the missions in your tier but you should be able to train within your tier if you have the XP.
ya i really want that to because its can be a anoeying to get a few people to fly with you on thos harder missions, but i JTl is still aswome over all andi will be playing for a long time regardless off the combat stuff

I'm loving it right now. I am concerned about what happens after I make ace, what there will be left to do at that point. I will definitely be around when the Combat Upgrade comes around, but the post-Ace content will determine whether I'm playing in space or on the ground at that point.

pfft... elite was fun... but this is starwars. Neutonian physic models and tribbles have no place in a galaxy far far away.
If your going to compare this game to something compare it to the X-Wing series of games by LA.
Personally I love the XWing style radar... it's cannon and it works GREAT if your used to it from X-Wing.
Also alot of people here seem to have never seen the movies the game is based on or ever read any of the books. That's fine... just don't judge unless you have a clue.
The space expansion is awesome. It is a blast leveling and modding out your ship... (I hope the mod idea carries over to the ground game (weapons/armor)as it is sooooo much fun)
I am concerned about content post master however, and I was sadly disappointed that ground professions didn't get mini games in space... smugglers smuggling... bh's hunting in space.... commando's blowing up space stations etc...
I am also disappointed there are no new landing area's in space for ground content...
It would be really cool to storm a freighter to get that loot wouldn't it? It would be cool to have to actually fight your way to the bridge to kidnap the captain of a ship... and it would be awesome to hyperspace to dagoba...

I hadn't played much over the past couple months, but I decided to give JTL and i admit that it has me hooked again. I agree with most of your points. I felt like i was playing the original X-Wing all those years back.

i liked what you had to say. i don't agree with all of it....
i love JTL... i don't get to play 6-8 hours a day like some people and JTL makes it fun to log in for 30-40 minutes and fly around and shoot stuff. of course the weekend 5-6 hours runs are more fun.
i would LOVE for the soro to really autopilot, so that i could walk around. that would be sweet, especially since it's so slow.
the other annoying thing is the radar is really bad, you have no idea where the ships are. they could put color coded rings around them or something to indicate front/behind/up/down... if not make it 3d.
anyway.. great game exp. i was about to quit.. but played the beta for 1 week and was hooked.

Good post.
Constructive.
I also agree with some and disagree with others.
I am enjoying JTL, but will I stay till CU? Up in the air right now...I'm just having a hard time accepting all the love given Jedi and how that has become so much of the end game. Way too many out there...but enough's been said on that.
EQ2 and WoW will be getting some of my love over the next month. If they're "better" (my subjective definition of what I like), then I may not stay till the CU. If they're not, then I'll probably stay.

No idea as its quite likely the Combat upgrade will be out before JTL is on sale in the UK. Dates been pushed back to the 12th currently by Activision and they are unsure if that date is going to be kept.

Played in Beta and saw that it was basically loot wars in space instead of the ground. The hope for a level, twitch-based playing field was lost when I found out that you could add high-power shields and weapons that made you unhitable to other people.
So, no, JtL will not hold me over until the Combat Uprade, Revamp, or whatever they're calling it this week. The CU may even come too late, though it will definitely be the only thing that will keep this game out of it's steady decline.

Hyperjump to wp's? are we beeing a bit lazy, if you could hyperspace everywhere you would hyperjump around in the same system aswell, the theory on hyperjumping makes it impossible to hyperjump to whereever, its not pinpoint accurate to begin, and thats just one reason you dont wanna get out of hyperspace too close to planets, astoroids etc,
