And, yes, I'm really pissed-off now. Maybe if the rest of the player base cared as much about profession they weren't involved in as their own then we'd have a richer and more balanced game. Smugglers get isolated on their own board and ignored for the very large part. WE didn't bring up this subject here but we certainly have a right to have our say here.

Well, let me be the first to apologize if I haven't been courteous or have been offensive.

It is my hope that my post HAVE been constructive in pointing out:

A. The idea is great!...

B. ...Except for the part about non-smugglers being able to smuggle.

True, I am here because of a link- though I have posted here before- which makes me a TROLL-

But you all must understand. You are talking about something that we have been promised and have waited for a LONG TIME. If I have to troll every post about contraband/smuggling content being for smugglers for people to understand-

If that is the only way we will be heard-

then I will do it.

But I will do it in a constructive and courteous manner.

Why not this.

Give Imperial ace pilots missions to hunt, capture, or kill Rebels, or missions to haul people/medicine/parts.

Give similar missions to the Rebel aces, just reversed.

To RSF and Corsec, give them policing missions, to stop smugglers, pirates, whatever.

And to us NON-smuggler SA aces, let us PIRATE! Let us inspect and dock with those freighters and actually get what is says they are carrying. I'd be thrilled if I managed to loot even a shipment of ugly clothes I could try to sell off on a bazaar. Or a load of resources that I could try to sell. I'd die happy if I could get a mission for a tier five frighter guarded by tier five guards that I could try to disable with my YT and a crew, and actually STEAL whatever the ship had. If they could continue telling me that 'Pirate scum like you doesn't deserve to live' that'd be a plus.

And finally, for the smuggler aces, the ones that spent the skillpoints to get smuggler, Impy, Reb and Nuetral alike, let the poor guys and gals have the smuggling. Of spices, weapons, contraband, people, missions where they have to meet a contact, pick up a cargo, hit a few waypoints in space, and then land somewhere and talk to a contact to complete the mission. Make opposing forces attack them on sight, but give the smuggler the option of seeing the hostiles and avoiding them if they want. Like it was said, a successful smuggler never fires a shot.

Thats a great variant Arsani. I'm not sure if all SA pilots would want to be pirates, but I think that I could live with it. One thing that ground smugglers have tried hard to prevent is the perception that we are SWG's version of a Thief. Not many of us want to be thieves...space pirates however...that's a different story. I think that giving that ability to SA pilots is acceptable to me, especially since many ground Smugglers are SA pilots, or aren't based on principle of the association.

I like the seperation as well, and there is always room to expand roles of others as new content becomes available. Such as player bounties, and even more GCW expansion and content. Plenty of great dev created story arcs involving all these different sides of the coin as well.

I asked for him to keep the idea as "inclusive" as possible. I too have a lot of sympathy for smugglers. But I also get a decent ammount of ideas or "push this for me" (here, pm's, ingame, etc) about things like BH hunting Jedi in space or Smuggler only missions and much more. I try to stay out of profession specific content as much as possible.

As I tell the BH's in-game that grab my ear about "hunting Jedi PC in space"when they can, thats a BH-Jedi issue and needs to be taken up on the profession forums for Jedi-BH and who am I to push an ajenda for one side. I have no problem if the Smugglers want to push for Smuggler only missions or if the BH-Jedi want to have their hunting/hunted extended to space. But that discussion should take place there not here IMHO.

So I am as much to "shoot in the head" for this as the original poster was and partly because I feel I represent the Pilots+all-ground-professions not just one combination. I also mentioned to ddelenz in PM's that I think there could besome great ideas forextra "mini-game" on the missions for smugglers only, but that I would have a hard time getting behind an idea that excluded a majority of pilots in this particular forum

Just wanted to QFE for all those reading thus far, my original comments.

I am a Master Smuggler and an Ace Pilot in the Smuggling Alliance. So, as we say on our boards, I am both a smuggler and a "S"muggler. My overall impression here is that we are all frustrated by a lack of content in game. Whether that be lack of Ace content, or lack of "S"muggling content at least let us come to a common ground to work from.

I think that common ground is that we all want more out of the game. And that is fair and good. I think that the OP has great ideas and they are well stated. I think delivery missions (ala Freelancer) would be hot. And as a Pilot I would take them for cash with pleasure.

However, for a Pilot to smuggle any contraband is unacceptable. And those deliveries which would deal in illicit goods or regulated goods should be exclusively available to "S"mugglers. I have SP invested in Underworld for a reason. I want to have advantages to transporting illegally. I want to make a profit from it. And for joe blow to be able to do that would be unfair.

I recognize the need for these "mini-movies" in space, however my concern is that the delivery missions could easily cross over into the realm of another professions "turf". And a Doctor on the ground can suddenly get all the excitement of being a smuggler in space. My solution to this would be profession specific delivery missions. For instance, a ground doctor may transport med supplies. The delivery terminal would offer each profession cargo relevent to his/her profession. Smugglers should get their own terminals in my opinion, but I suppose that is for another forum. Thanks and power to the people.

Yeah! I think if this was integrated into the original posters idea, it would make for a vast, immersive experience that extends the boundaries of the space expansion. Kudos to both parties.

OK, bottom line is the ideas presented, EXCEPT non-smugglers smuggling, are good. Most have been presented at one time or another in various forms and are reasonable ideas.

If we keep missions appropriate for the professions I have no problem at all.

Personally I think SOE made a huge mistake with the Smuggler's Alliance and they're beta comment about the SA needing people to fill jobs other than smuggling as away out of it being only for Smugglers was a lame attempt at back-peddaling. Of course the SA doesn't have ANY jobs of anysubstance let alone smuggling ones. It would be nice if they did AND if SOE stepped up and filled in their empty rhetoric and gave non-Smuggler SA pilots jobs that were appropriate to support of a Smuggler's Alliance...and, of course, gave the Smuggler SA pilots actual smuggling.

Personally I think that's expecting way too muchof SOE and my thought on that is based on nearly two years of experience with their utter lack of attention to the existing Smuggler concerns.

I am a Pilot and a Smuggler. As a Pilot, I welcome the opportunity to take additional mission types by hauling cargo. To get this started simply in-game, we wouldn't even need to implement the "cargo hold" concept initially...just deposit the item(s) to be transported into the character's inventory...just as we do with Delivery Missions in the ground game. This is not to say that cargo holds shouldn't be looked into and implemented if feasible, just offering this method as a way of getting cargo missions into the game sooner...it can always be revamped at a later date.

As far as hauling illegal cargo (ie space smuggling) I sincerely believe that this should be left as a profession-specific capability. I think this is may be what the Devs had in mind when they created the much-maligned Smugglers Alliance. Unfortunately, the concept was never executed properly...or at all. At any rate, smuggling in space would be an IDEAL way to begin implementing improvements to the Smuggler profession. Making space smuggling available to everyone will simply result in more backlash against SOE by Smugglers and those who support Smugglers.

It seems that in all of SWG (not justregarding the Smuggling profession skills) there is a great undercurrent toward letting the skills, abilities, and goals of each profession meld and cross professional boundaries. While I am all for inter-profession interaction (for example Smugglers being on BH terms, Shipwrights crafting smuggling holds for Smugglers, etc.) I am against the changes which allow characters to "dabble" in other professions without actually pursuing the profession itself (ie being able to smuggle as a non-Smuggler, or Rangers being able to track Jedi).

I am all for including as many people as possible in the improvements to this game, but it is time that everyone (Devs ANDplayers) accepted the fact that each profession and faction has both strenghts AND weaknesses as well as advantages AND disadvatages. Offering or changing profession- or faction-specific contentwhich emphasises those differences is not a crime...we as players need to make appropriate decisionsto best suit ourindividual playstyles and goals in-gameinstead of crying for nerfs and equality. Offering smuggling content to non-Smuggler pilots will obviously grant content to a larger group of players, but overall it is not a fit. In my eyes, it would be similar to making the YT available to all pilots instead of just Privateers (youcan substitute any faction spacecraft/faction in this argument). SOE decided that certain spacecraft should be"perks" of joining a faction and left the decision with us to choose appropraitely. If the YT means THATMUCH to you, then you should go Privateer. This ishow we should approach a LOT of the new content ideas (like smuggling in space) instead of trying to be all-inclusive and non-offensive. Force the player-base to make smart decisions regarding what they want to do in-game and how best to pursue it instead of giving out content on a silver platter to everyone simply because they play (or pay).

Bring on the missions Tev' M'Kaneen proposed when he wrote this thread, but do it in a manner that best reflects the intent of the game...which is not necessarily a manner which benefits each individual player.

Oh yeah.. and it should probably be reminded that, before any major cargo-related content is added (particularly if it involves any PVP), the POB ships are going to need to see some form of the major changes being discussed around here. Hm. And though it might be a little of the cart preceding the horse and all, this thread and others like it may actually end up informing how POB ships might be changed.
