What use has a professional pilot have for skill points anyway?

And you wanna know who KINDA gets screwed here? Shipwrights. Even though it's pretty damned easy (albeit costly) to grind SW, they CAN'T get conversion, because the SECOND they do, all you advocates are gonna turn the volume to 11 and start screaming in unison "THEY GOT IT, WHY DON'T WE?!?!?! HUH!?!??! HUH!?!?!?"

As I said, space is laggy enough now without having mindless grinding going on.

fyi, you can't load kill anyone anymore.

Happened to 2 guildies a few nights ago, one was on dial up, the other i'm unsure about, however both were killed before they loaded.

Your post mentioned that converting prestige to FS would turn DS into the new grenade grind, and I jokingly agreed with a FS conversion because that would mean there are more then a handful of people in space on the smaller servers: people to fly with, people to fly against.

It gets hard to detect the sarcasm in these threads sometimes, between some of the wacky ideas that crop up and SOE's very own brand of humor.

maybe instead of a 5 second timer as soon as you are physically flying around it's a 20 second timer when the server registers you in the zone and it's just that my machine takes 15 seconds to get past the splash screen.

somehow i doubt that though, again, tested easily enough, someone has a fast machine, go see how long you are forced neutral.

my money is on this load killing business being hersay though.

you were at his machine when it happened? perhaps there's a bug assiociaed with dialup but the timer starts when you finish loading. it doesn't have anything to do with the speed of your machine or anything else.

i have serious doubts as to whether or not it's possible and considering i have killed many pilots trying to take down the ISD when i load in DS, i'm inclined to say the code is relatively bug free, especially since my computer is very slow at loading.

i'm alot more inclined to believe they loaded in a zone, sat there for a second daydreaming, got blown up, and blaimed it on a load kill without realizing that load killing is technically impossible. there's another thread on this board where someone says he got load killed, then in his next post says he has a hard time determining friend or foe when cycling upon loading into the zone. which is it?

i can't prove the code is rock solid, of course, but i've seen the load killing prevention mechanism work over 30 times and i've never seen it fail once.

hey prove me wrong though, should be easy enough to test.

Don't move your mouse or touch your keyboard while you're loading, it fools the timer.

If a poisonous snake is dropped on top of you from a gyrocopter, don’t freak out and shoot your own driver with your arrow gun, making the vehicle lose control and blow up. Its probably just as scared as you are.

nope. not true. the timer starts the second the graphics load up on your screen, it has nothing to do with mouse movement.

i tested with 2 workstations first. moving the mouse on the loading individual while firing at him from the pilot in DS. beeps until 5 seconds after the graphics popped up on the loading pilot's screen.

i tested with the same conditions only moved the joystick instead.

once more moving both mouse and joystick.

another thread a guy says you have a split second to shoot someone the second their ship materializes. gonna test that right now....

For the people who say no, especialy for the one that said about the AFK macro you surely must be a new pilot, becuase YOU CAN"T AFK GRIND IN SPACE....well glad that is off now, but anyways for the people saying no, are you A. A Jedi, B. Hate doing the pilot proffession, or of course C. Don't like PvP in space, either way I am tired of my 7 million prestige points that are sitting there for nothing, so please for the ones that say no, do tell, instead of no, support your answer instead of saying, people will go into space, what is wrong with that? I would be very happy to see players in space, except for Kashhyyk space, and for the people that mine and start looting I was happy when someone got angry at me for attacking one of his ships, just because there are people finaly going and interacting with space. I don't realy care about FS realy going with space, but what other use is there for Pilot Prestige then, the ship ideas and support are good ideas, and I am hoping if the whole "capitol ship rumor" will allow us to use them or only let certain pilots go up, I don't like to the fact that some new player can go to the avatar platform with a Yacht and not even get agroed. Or atleast allow rare ships you can get after mastering, using the pilot prestige to get higher class ships.

See, the thing is, we've given all kinds of reasons why it's a bad idea already, and there's no real need to repeat it all for your sake, nothing has changed ingame to make this a better idea. I don't particularly care if Search isn't working for you, keep on trying until it does. I recommend search this forum for a thread with the words "dead horse" in the title.

I want a use for prestige. FS would be nice, but I'd much rather have other (more space directed) uses. BUT when you put it this way, I'm all for it suddenly. Why, lots and lots of easy targets. That'd be the closest to the Jedi vs BH conflict I'll ever get probably, hunting Jedi-wanna-be's in space.

So, if not in DS you'd be hunting those who hadn't made it to jedi yet andare not flying declared...so you couldn't attack them anyway? Or if it was in DS, you wouldsee people camping spawn pointsshooting down pilots before they've even loaded in (something i personally loathe and detest)

And ifprestige got converted to FS xp, what next? Demands for jedi only ships (oh wait we got that already)... demands for jedi ships that give jedi xp for each kill,Not to mention the crys of nerf assoon as a few jedi get shot down, etc. etc. etc. It would get very messy very quickly and IMHO would kill space stone dead.

If anything, convert prestige into some type of faction points (obviously a smuggler/freelance faction would be needed for this to work properly) Use these point to purchase schems, (providing support to shipwrights and crafters), support strikes (what about 1mill prestige for Rogue Sqdn to come support reb pilots for 2 mins or a temporary cloak that would let Smugglers Alliance pilots steal cargo?) but most importantly, access to new master level quests.

Was on-line but not flyingwhen it happened, it was a newace and a veteran ace who isn't likely to be daydreaming and 2 together seemed kinda strange.Guild chat got kinda colourful after the vet ace jumped back in and got a "haha!" tell from the alledged camper.

It was apparentlybusy in DS and the server was kinda jittery on the ground (has been since last publish)...if that had something to do with it, i have no idea, either way i've heard from a few other people on the server that the same thing has happened to them too recently. It might be a bug, i don't know but jumping the timer up another 5 seconds wouldn't hurt.

Anyway, this is getting off topic and the sooner this thread dies off the better.
