I can assure you, there are no AFK macro pilots. However there are plenty of empty turret seats and POBs out there...

Guess again, at least two easy ways to earn AFK experience. Throw a group in a POB ship with passengers (not as big of a concern since someone still has to fly) or sit facing a spawn point - and there are several static spawnpoints - and tape the trigger button down. I've already seen folks do this, presumably farming parts. Nice try though. Not to mention I don't want to put up with more leaches in space - you know, those pilots who follow you around one shotting your kills, getting in the way, and generally making pests of themselves for easy xp.

Again, why introduce more of this? Let the Jedi crowd keep the ground. Although, I love the idea of presige having some use in space.

Are you a pilot and not using Droid Commands?

I'd rather prestige be used for Naval rank (which may increase the amount of FP or the chance of loot depending on how high one is), purchase of reward or Ace-only parts through NPCs (which would have the added incentive of giving aces something to grind on before changing faction and LOSING it all in one fell swoop), or use it for purchase of specialized ships.

ANYTHING but FS xp conversion.

And you wanna know who KINDA gets screwed here? Shipwrights. Even though it's pretty damned easy (albeit costly) to grind SW, they CAN'T get conversion, because the SECOND they do, all you advocates are gonna turn the volume to 11 and start screaming in unison "THEY GOT IT, WHY DON'T WE?!?!?! HUH!?!??! HUH!?!?!?"

As I said, space is laggy enough now without having mindless grinding going on.

No, No, No.

Cry more that you can't grind it somewhere else.

Ground and space will be separated by everything but a few quests, and perhaps the economy if you want to look at it from a financial point of view. Plus, they are separate versions. People would have CTD's from introducing JTL coding into SWG.

2 thumbs up for this idea.

Honest question that. A few reasons off the top of my head:

1.) Pilot is Skill point free. It doesnt cost you anything. Asking for FP conversion is like asking for something, for nothing.

2.) Pilot earns XP hand over fist, in large quanities. Especially with a master pilot bonus. Jedi isnt supposed to be easy, any conversion rate in pilot would make it too easy.

3.) Jedi (or obtaining thereof) is a ground based combat profession. Pilot has nothing to do with anything related to ground combat.

4.) Shady motives. See reason number 2. People want the quick and easy way for the glowstick.

5.) Most people don't like Jedi and don't the jedi vermin contaminating JTL. In JTL we are all equals with varying degrees of skill. No templates, or jedi "I win" powers will help you here. We like an even and fair playing field for all and aim to keep it that way.

ideally id like to see space ranks, new ship deeds, medals, helmets, jackets & access to new elite areas & special quests from well known charactersbased on prestige points. If they made them convertable to force sensitve experience then the conversion ratio should be much poorer than ground based professions to stop people who care little about pilot jumping on the bandwagon.

Not to mention the multi-ace contingency. Even at a 1000:1 ratio, killing a gunboat whilst inspired and with 4x xp:

19200 (roughly) x 4 = 76800 X 10% = 84480/1000 = ~85 FS xp for ~30 seconds' work.

Using the 85FSxp/sec rule, that's 170xp per minute, or the equivalent of killing a 1700xp creature every 60 seconds. I don't know about you - but pre-CURB, that was cake...now...not so much.

170 x 60 (assuming a relatively constant stream, like in DS) = 10200FSxp/hr, which comes out to a little under nine hours per 100k.

Not much, you may say?

-----

Consider the following, then stop asking for conversion:

* The above xp is free. Since WHEN is ANYTHING ever allowed to be FREE in this game.

* Grinding all four branches of the Combat Prowess tree requires 1.275 MILLION FS xp (including the 50k for Novice). At 4X xp PLUS a theoretical infinite inspiration buff, it would take you 125 hours grinding NONSTOP to accrue this. Sounds like a lot, but to someone possessed, like a Chinese sweatshop powerleveller/creditseller, it ain't.

* As implied above, space farming is so incredibly goddamned easy that it would be sheer gold to an off-shore credit sweatshop to grind not only the millions of credits a professional pilot can accrue, but also to sell a Padawan wholesale.

If a poisonous snake is dropped on top of you from a gyrocopter, don’t freak out and shoot your own driver with your arrow gun, making the vehicle lose control and blow up. Its probably just as scared as you are.

Yeah, it really sucks. I could seriously use the ability to pick up some of the FS crafting skills. Especially Experimentation.

Problem is, Shipwright takes skill points and is an integrated part of the crafting trees. Pilot is a stand alone profession relying no on skill modifiers, but the inherent skill of the player.

Shipwrights SHOULD have an option to convert for FS XP since they're just another crafting profession. Pilots however are an entirely different story.

agree 100% about shipwrights. either make it cost no SP or give them the conversion.

If SW were no-cost, every professional pilot would be one.
