Thread: The NGE and Space
On the positive side, if decayless items are the case in space, too (and I don't see why they wouldn't be), that should encourage PVP while removing the stress of having to decide how many risks you can take with your best gear.
I know that might not sound that great for our space brethren the shipwrights, but with the exception of armor, I really don't think decay plays a significant factor in our sales or purchases. In fact, I've suggested that adopting some of the shipwright innovations (resource-heavy and/or handcrafted gear--mostly on high-end or luxury stuff, though) might benefit the other crafting professions as well. There's still a lot of debate on this subject, though.

Pace I salute you that you have found an apponant worth the fight.
However I have never had a fight last more then 5 minutes on my server. Yes I was the victor.
So you'll know full well that JTLS's mechanics are almost nothing like real flight apart from the general aspect of spatial and as 1st_Viduus quite rightly stated many moons ago, relating JTLS to real life flight is pointless for the fact that you're not flying in a medium where blackouts, redouts, flatspins, gravity or friction take effect. Pace has a good point and really, please come to starsider. You'll see that epic duels aren't uncommon amongst the more seasoned pilots.
Additionally, Tomo is raising some good points. I think though I really am just going to wait and see. I'm semi excited though. Still I want to feel positive about this change.

I'm certainly keeping my main and all his goodies
As far as friends go, I've been talking with some folks who are interested in getting together on a different server and we're going to do it together from the beginning. I have a lot of great friends in this community and for one reason or another, we've stuck with our original galaxies. This is giving us an opportunity to all join the same galaxy and play together.

It's either completely innocuous, or a furtive indicator that there might be server closings on the way too. Or it's saying the changes are going to be so sweeping that there won't be a difference between being godfathered or starting anew.
I'm remaining cautiously optimistic. I'm not quite sure why I'm optimistic at all, but I'm not going to pass judgement until I have time to play with the system a bit for myself. Here's to hoping this is the /lastditch that connects! ![]()

Okay, so in the new system as it stands, in order to change classes, you'll need to basically delete your current character and start another. In a debate over the (de)merits of that system, another corr raised the excellent question of whether we'll still be able to change pilot squads like we can now. I'll get anything I find out on that front back here pronto.
If you delete your character in the ground game, your pilot and his ships all go poof too.

You are at the dorsal turret controls of the Millennium Falcon splashing TIEs within 90 seconds of the start of the new player tutorial. Many of the new player mission quests require space travel within the Ord Mantell sector, so the Piloting profession is learned early on in character progression and integrated tightly with the underlying mini-story arcs.
Don't really have anything to add to this except to say I'm glad to see space will be a part of the new character experience from the very beginning. My hope would be that would come with the intention of continuing to develop it, especially in the post-master arena.

Does this bit here mean you start a pilot profession in the start that isnt one of the ones we have now? Cause i dont remember any trainers in Ord Mantell for CP, SS, SA or anything else.
