Who are thefamous pilot in the movies? Han Solo? Boba? Name the character and you'll see they do a LOT of action outside of space. Nobody is forcing you out of anything. You can buy all kinds of ships, gear, and do all kinds of quests and never really leave space for action. However, some content and equipment can be gained through means other than leaning on cannons, meaning more complete players can access a wider variety of experiences and rewards. That makes perfect sense. If you don't want to squish bugs, then hire someone to do your dirty work. There are plenty of non-JTL players out there eager for new content that I'm sure can be had for the right price.

How about the ONLY pilot to have TWO Death Stars painted on his X-Wing? Hmm? Wedge Antillies, who was a pure pilot. And before you go there, in pilot circles, Wedge *is* a famous pilot.

Except they haven't. Only the Griveous fighter is tradable.

Not strictly true - the ARC and JSF are tradeable... but unusueable without doing the quest ( which instantly pushes ALL non-combatants out of doing the quest )

Hmm, that is weird. I know for a fact the RG Interceptor is tradeable, and useable without doing the mission.

Wedge, Biggs, Porkins...

These guys don't do anything outside of space. (Well, ok, Biggs and Porkins bought the farm... in Space!!!)

It would probably serve most JTL oriented players to stop thinking of themselves in terms of Rogue Squadron rather more like a Wraith Squadron (pick up the books, pretty interesting material) that focuses more towards flying soldiers rather than pilots who occassionally offer token resistance on the ground.

There's room for both philosophies, really, just like on the ground, just come toexpect that thefocus of your character's skills will guide and limit your choices in some cases. You don't see crafters in the Corvette or DWB, or Geonosian Cave, or even the Squill cave, really. Don't expect to see them on the Avatar platform or the wilds of Dathomir heading for the Imperial prison. Not alone, anyway.

Okay, very well, what did he fly again? Arc? Firespray? Something uber and rare? Uh, no, he flew your standard issue X-wing. So can you without crawling through caves. My point still stands: you can be as much of a pilot as you wish in this game without doing any ground game. Those who care to be a more complete player, both ground and space, can get more out of the game, and that is only fair.

I agree, except for one thing. I want SOMETHING. That's the issue here. It doesn't look like anything is going to be added to people who only want to fight in space. With the addition of the Hoth system (which may or may not be PvP-required too, yuck), we may get a new place to pull duty missions from. We may be allowed to fly in circles around disabled Vettes as our ground-based friends take them over. This isn't content. Where are the quests and missions for those of us who enjoy space? There is a reason that people are running around with every single squadron's badge. Once you've made Ace, there isn't much else. You'd think that expanding the content from JTL would be worthy of mention for a new expansion, but it seems that it is being passed up in exchange for giving us the ability to shuttle other people to their content.

Re-reading your point, it was that all famous pilots did ground stuff. I was just accepting your challenge to prove otherwise.

You are missing the point of the thread somewhat, most pilots are not griping that they can't get ALL of the rewards, they are griping, and rightfully so from thier point of view, that they do not get access to anything new in the parts of the game they do combat in. It is like telling someone who never bought JTL originally that you have to Master Pilot and solo a vette before you can play on the ground on Kashyyyk.

It is just leaving the crafting pilot out of a LOT of the content.

I would argue that they are not, but that is just me. There are a lot of ground pounders I have been babying through some of the space missions so they can finish thier quests...turnabout is fair play, as them to guide you through the ground parts. One of the biggest missions for space in the expansion is all in space. (Of course that one is blocked to all honest people, but that is another gripe )

There are also a lot of people suddenly wantiong to get 4333 pilot for new ship use, and get master for the Y-8. As a kick butt pilot that can help them, you have bargaining tools for getting help with ground quests. If I can take someone in a Syck (non-heavy) and get them the vette for master with nothing more than that, they should be able to even help you kill the Katarn at level 1.

This is an expansion of economics folks, it is called the barter system *wink*

Not quite. The issue is that nothing new is being added. Access isn't an issue, because there is nothing to get access to. Since JtL was released, what has been done in space? The heavy variant missions, mining, and the end of the quests for the JSF and ARC. Nym's Starmap, which hands out space rewards, could be completed without touching a starship once if you felt like spending the money on shuttle tickets. There is painfully little content that is space-only, and this expansion isn't doing anything to address that. THAT is the issue. I don't mind not being able to do everything, but I would like to do something.

Well, mining is something quite new. Some of the space missions added could definatly be called Master content as well.

I am not going to argue that space could use more, it could. However, the things I would like to see are going to take a full expansion. Things like Player space stations (I think they could do this instanced so space does not get cluttered too much), Player Capital ships that would make the battle seem HUGE, and so on.

Honestly, we have to face the reality. They were forced to put out this movie tie-in as the expansion. Hopefully with the movie done, we can get back to regularly scheduled programming.

That was my hope, too. Instead, word out of the fanfest is that we're going to see a PvP planet (hello, waste of space) with a possable PvP-system around it and capital ship takeovers that will require ground combat to do. No word at all about adding anything for those of us who only fly. Sadly, I expect that it means that we'll get a new zone to mine and run duty missions in (unless it's PvP-required), maybe a few missions for the new ships (YT-2400 and Lambda, by most reports), and the ability to escort our friends as they do the actual work of taking over a capital ship. And the way I hear it told by people from the FanFest, the devs consider this to be a "space-based" expansion. It doesn't sound that way to me. It sounds to me like space is just what you have to go through to get to the expansion, like RotW is.

I understand the need for some mixed content, but space needs more content of its own. And I don't see that comming.

I've been playing since launch, the l33t d00ds over the yearsgrinded my last nerve, they are always ruining a game wtihgoing against the intentional designand calling things simple as if them being uber cl80 was the norm. Like that guy who got through the spider cave, if im not mistaken hes a CL80, yeah that doesnt help a CL1 dancer any, you can probaly wear good armor, what does she have? Her Slave skirt? Seriously people need to realize being uber isnt the norm, Space is the last refuge for people who cant manipulate the ground system to become a killing machine, the ARC and JSF quests were for the most part reasonable but that spider cave was a horrible idea, and gates many people. If thats the kinda content we have on the way, theres going to be alot of people complaining about this. Let pure pilots fly, they could always build into the code if someone's CL level is below 15 or so to give them a more longer path to take dealing with space instead of sending them to their death by the hands of elite CL 80 mobs.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- I support NO DECAY.It should be run like EQ . No 20k price cap on the bazar and everyone can craft. Its has worked for 7 years on everquest and there is no decay plenty of money and no crazy prices.

Decay is only good for crafteres and bad for everyone else.

I am not a guy, and I got throught hte spider cave before I hit level 80, with no armour, just help from good friends who let me take a hit from thier health crystal, told me the good foods to eat, and made sure I knew what I was doing before hand.

It is not leet dooddom, it is intelligent, cunning play, and decent preperation with good friends around.

I'm still not understanding why you think this was meant to be a mainly space expansion. If you explain what made you think that, I might understand your point, but as it is, I don't. It was an expansion for the game as a whole, and it expanded the game as a whole. Best you think back to why this expansion came in the first place. It's pretty obvious a lot of things didn't make it into JtL. It's also pretty obvious that the Content teams had a lot of stuff ready to go on the back burner that hadn't made it ingame yet. So with the movie coming, they decided to bundle it all together and sell it. No big deal, its enough content to be worth paying for, even with the bugs. Just let's not get confused about what RotW is and what it isn't. I never got the impression that it was meant primarily for space, and I'm not sure how anyone could.

I was only kidding Psiko...

Actually, I'm totally in favor of integrating the space and ground game. Seriously, before ROTW, I don't think I'd do anything on the ground except shop. Now, I have a reason to see some of the cooler things, Kachihro for instance, is really artfully designed, and I enjoy going out on the various quests. The Starmap for example, is a space based quest, that takes place on the ground, and I've had a lot of fun doing it.
