Thread: Are we being forced out of space?

The Starmap for example, is a space based quest, that takes place on the ground, and I've had a lot of fun doing it.
If you get buggy and lucky like I did you can do the JSF lower.
My Imp was cl 13 when I did it.
I got no agro's while escorting the ATST
When the rebels attacked the base there was about 5 other people at the same point trying to find rebels not stuck in walls, so I just tried to get shots in on them all. And many of them were only cl15.
Finally I got tired and logged out still needing several of the diff rebel types, when I logged in the next day I got a mission complete.
I am CL 80, so I speak for others here more than myself.
If they are going to make the space game depend on ground quests at times, they need to make the ground game depend on space. How about a village FS unlock where the mission is in space? Looted rare items used in ground combat dropping from tier 5 ships. Quests in space to get ground loot that take a pretty good pilot to complete? Letting one of the required badges for FS be a space badge?
I would really like to see the high-level ground loot dropping in deep space. The groundies get cool space stuff from ground. It doesnt apply vice-versa.
New space zone
New ships
New game facet: space mining
New space based factions
New missions
New items for crafting
New space loots
....and yet space didn't get any attention?
This is what I hear: "I'm a *one dimensional player* in a multi-dimensional world, and I don't like it when my one dimension doesn't get all the attention" *insert crafter, businessman, GCWer, PVPer, pilot, Jedi, etc* Boy, the devs can't win. People keep griping how there is no synergy between the elements, and when they work to blend them, they hear gripes about how players are being forced into parts of the game they usually don't enter.
Here's my advice: if you want more out of this game, broaden your horizons. If you're stubborn, don't be surprised if things don't go your way.
I haven't had a major problem with ground-based intrusions into space. (Aside from the fact that, yes, you DO need to do the theme park missions for Jabba and the Emperor's Retreat for Smuggler's Alliance and Imperial Inquisition pilots, respectively. I checked. I made it through the Retreat with a CL24 rifleman and had no problems, the worst I had to face was a few CL14 Rebel troopers at one point...but even if you're lower than I was, you can bring spent a few hundred faction points and send a Stormtrooper to kill them all. If you're a crafter, you've got the creds to buy the 400 or 500 faction needed to get a Stormtrooper. Jabba's missions were harder, since at one point, it involved fighting CL30 tuskens...I'm still working on that. And yes, you can land at Jabba's Palace...but you land *outside* of it...you still need to do the quests to get inside. And you can't land at the Emperor's Retreat until you do enough of the theme park to get access to the area of the park with the starship terminals.)
The one thing that I *do* have a problem with is that it seems all noteworthy combat areas are for CL80. I started the Geonosian Clone War Relics quest in Kashyyyk and got him the papers from the Trandoshan scientists with my CL54 Dancer/Master Rifleman. That was fairly easy, just have to watch about drawing aggro from large groups of Dosh...but then he sends me to the Geo bunker...fullof CL80s that were giving two CL80 *Jedi* problems. I imagine that the vette missions are similar.
So I have to ask...as some idiot in this thread already said...is the new space content of being able to board enemy ships going to consist of hordes of CL80-85 Rebel "Privates" who can outshoot 99.9% of all players? Or, as it would make more sense, will it be full of CL 10-20 common troopers, 30-40 "sergeants", 40-50 "elites" and a 70-80 "captain"? Here's hoping that everyone who's not an uber killing machine will get left out of the upcoming space stuff.

Couple points. There are *plenty* of low level combat dungeons. The reb base on Talus is CL14-18 rebels, the Tusken Fort is CL30-40, and these are just a couple examples. If you meant "all noteworthy combat areas that give goot loot/rewardsare for CL80",I do support havinga lot ofthe cool ground loot/rewards being from tougher combat areas, same way would support this loot model in space. As a crafter/pilot/whatever, you should have the tools and skills to barter or buy these rewards. I know Master Pilots who can't take the heat in Deep Space, no offense to any of them, same way I am not offended that I can't solo Avatar Station like some of them can.
Getting a capital ship *better* be tough, and it better take a group, and I would sincerely hope some of that group would have to be CL80. I do not thik it should be as easy as boarding with 3-4 CL20 players and getting a capital ship. CL 40-50 as elites? no, CL 40-50 should be the privates, and scale up to 75-80 elites, with a 81-84 Captain. IMHO

Both have quests at the spacestation that grant access to the parts you need, no need for groundpounding.
I also did that clone relic quest. I just waited until I saw a dot on the radar on the way out. I walked in without a problem while the other player ran past drawing all the agro with him on his way out. If you can't fight your way in you need a bit of patience and a strategy.

Honestly, we have to face the reality. They were forced to put out this movie tie-in as the expansion. Hopefully with the movie done, we can get back to regularly scheduled programming.
That was my hope, too. Instead, word out of the fanfest is that we're going to see a PvP planet (hello, waste of space) with a possable PvP-system around it and capital ship takeovers that will require ground combat to do. No word at all about adding anything for those of us who only fly. Sadly, I expect that it means that we'll get a new zone to mine and run duty missions in (unless it's PvP-required), maybe a few missions for the new ships (YT-2400 and Lambda, by most reports), and the ability to escort our friends as they do the actual work of taking over a capital ship. And the way I hear it told by people from the FanFest, the devs consider this to be a "space-based" expansion. It doesn't sound that way to me. It sounds to me like space is just what you have to go through to get to the expansion, like RotW is.
I understand the need for some mixed content, but space needs more content of its own. And I don't see that comming.
It seems like a lot of great space based items to me.I think the idea of a boarding party is excellent myself. can you give an example of the kind ofcontent are you referring to exactly?
The reason that all the "noteworthy combat areas" are for level 80's, is because that is who needs them. When your level 20 or so, your probably working on leveling. Or you should be, the high level content is something to work forward to. Once you hit double mastery, there's nothing left to work for without quests for loot and such. Sure, you get Jedi to work for, if you so choose, but maybe not everyone wants to be a jedi. Then the only thing thats left is helping the lower level people level, or making money, or PvP. First two aren't exactly the funnest things in the world (grouping with the lower levels is fun once in a while, sure. But not non-stop). And if your making money, you have to have something to buy with it, no point in just getting money.
The quests are needed to keep the high level game fun for people. Should there be some lower level content? Sure, why not. But only once they get sufficient high level content to keep people playing the game. Lower levels have skills to work toward.
And for the guy saying that whoever got through the Spider Cave was level 80, yes, I am as well. I got through it solo. Your not level 80, you say? Well find someone that is, have them group with you and go down before you so that they can draw aggro. I'm sure you can find 1 level 80 person on your server that is nice enough to help you out with something that takes 20 minutes, tops. Its very possible for most of the new ground content that has to do with space to be done by someone who is level 1, as long as you have help.
More problematic, are the space quests for those who usually don't do space. Having someone thats high level help you doesn't do much if your flying a novice ship that gets killed in 2 shots by tier 4 ships your supposed to be fighting. Even with 3-4 high level pilots, your going to need a lot of luck to survive, especially going at the speed you are at novice. I tried helping someone, found this out first hand.
Really, the best thing you can do for yourself if you want to fully experience the game is to be proficient in both space and the ground game. If you don't want to be combat, fine, but know your going to need a group to help you with things, and there are going to be other things that you plain can't do, group or not. Its been the same for crafters ever since the beginning, you want to craft don't expect to do things that require much combat, thats a choice you make.

You know the fairly lengthy stream of missions we have to do to make Ace pilot? Cut out the boring escorts, and give us more of that. I want what I am doing to have a story. I don't want to fly in circles blowing up ship after ship after ship. Give us more adventures. That is what I want. Adventures we can go on in space.
