why are you attacking him?
and as for being forced to use legit parts, thats not entirely true. i still got a nice 25k mass l8 shield laying around, but i aint gonna use it.

I'm attacking his misplaced defense of an exploiter, not him personally.
Yah, I'm quite sure you've got several exploits still available to you. It's not like anyone honestly expects YOU to do anything legitimately anyway.
Heh... Shows what a Idiot I am here then...... I aced Storm what seems like eon's ago. Started flying day 2 of JTL's release. I NEVER used / knew about this stuff. Why? I never needed to. Flying for the Empire my mass has always been one up from a Sardine can and I enjoyed hunting for better parts and squeezing in the best equipment I could find. It was like a hobby. All of my Imperial crafts had about 6lbs left in thier mass. (My JF has 6k left and it drives me nuts ) But I had a blast doing this. I aced the Storm this way, and anyone flying for them understands what a battle that can be.
People who used exploits or cheated well... all I can say is that you missed out on some fun. Cheating / Exploits for the win is about as boring as it gets. As for your Ace? Bleh.. You didn't earn it. Nerfing? Bleh... more like fixing. BUT! I would welcome a 1 v1 with you any day of the week with your exploited ship vs any of my ships.
Again, its too bad. People that went this route basicly lost out on 90 percent of the fun in Acing missions. But like a lot of people thesedays in SWG all people care about is the Badge, to be UBER, or what not.. They don't care about the Challange, Journey, ect getting there. But from what I have seen also , most lack any information, skill, ect what so ever about the game/professions becuase they never took the time to actually learn things before they cheated/exploited/ect thier way to the top. The are infact "nUb's" Funny having lvl 80's adn aces asking basic week two questions......
I would "no comment" this thread, but I'm officially incapable.
Ostat knew and admits he's a cheat. He doesn't deserve his wings, kills, ace status or anything else in space at this time. He's not so much arrogant as he is "aloof."
That said, the issue is getting fixed. Anyone who wants to know how good he really is will have their chance to blow him to little pieces in the near future, in a fair ship... if they can.
His past is tainted and we can sneer all we want, for all the good that will do.However, this bs exploit does not totallyunbalance the game for other players (other than unfairly winning over some others in PVP...which results inabout zero sum loss, so... wah...)If he's up in DS after the fix and fighting and winning or dying, then I'd say draw a new judgment. If he disappears from space now that the "fix" is going in, lump him with the j3dorks who live for their exploits and flee like cowards when they are put on an even playing field.
Arguing here may help blow off steam, but that's about all it does. I despise cheating and cheaters, but I really just don't see the point of this.

You miss the part where he's admitted to having more exploited equipment lying about than just the 0mass parts?
Dude's not interested in playing fair, and what reason does anyone have to believe he WOULDN'T be exploiting?

You have no idea how much I've had to put up with spam wise from people annoyed about this bug. Don't preach to me about it k? I didn't even make use of the bug. It annoyed the hell out of me for sure, but I just felt well..whats the point? It took SOE this long to do anything about it and yeh its wrong of Ostat to make use of it but...he wasn't the only one.
Hell, my best friend irl quit the game because she was so annoyed about this 'bug'which she'd known about for a long whileand thats what annoyed me so before anyone goes and gets all high and mighty...it should be -me- who is uberly overly annoyed about this whole affair. Dumicus too...but at least he didnt get the spam from disgruntled players ingame or having a good friend quit over it.So yeh..I could be -very- p****ed off with Ostat and the fact this bug was even possible, but I got better things to do and I have to remember also that Ostat has contributed many excellent worthwhile things to the pilot community in these forums and ingame on starsider and Bria....and that has to count for somthing.
So in summary...people should stop being so high and mighty, relax some...and maybe take a look at themselves every once in a while askign themselves...how much have they contributed to this community. I'm not saying anyone here hasn't for one second...but you cannot deny, that Ostat has.

Why is it SO blasted important to continually make excuses and allowances for someone to CHEAT?
His own reasons don't even make any sense. 'I was bored 'cause the game's too easy' SO YOU MAKE IT EASIER?
Just come clean guys and say 'He's a friend of mine and I refuse to hold my friends accountable for their actions.'

As for this bug, one reason i quit the game for a month, well this bug was a major contributer to my decision to quit the game. Knowing how badly this game is F**ked Up Beyond All Recognition, i have no idea why i resubscribed. Even with this bug fixed, this game is STILL cheated to hell and back. Your friend mentioned to me otherways ppl cheat here, but didnt (thankfully) give me specifics. But it sounded alot like how ppl cheat in other games with speed hacking, and packet sniffing from a machine placed between the server, and the client computer.
Suffice to say, other uknown exploits are likely to exist, and one shield exploit continues to exist. Now, toss in Out of balance ROTW fighters that turn space upside down even without the cheats, and onther misc bugs that contine to persist and well.. again, JTL is FUBARed.
People chewed me out because i used an RGI. Take everything ive mentioned in this post, and realize that my spirit for the game, is broken. I just dont care anymore, whats to care for? Its already gone to hell, and anything worth preserving has been throughly trashed.
yet i still play, now theres a sign of an addict. Maybe i need to go to MMO 'holics anonymous and get my head examined.

I'll happily duel you. I really have no idea who will win, but you've played this game longer than me and your knowledge exceeds mine (obvious from the amount of correcting of my views you do..which is fair enough since most of the time you're right) so yeh...
I just really do think people need to relax a bit. I'm not for a moment saying people take the game too seriously..I mean, if you didn't you'd not improve -but- what I am saying is..caring too much over one thing/person can have negative effects on a personality...and more importantly, ingame attitude.
Lets leave the trash talking to those select Jedi in their FS grinding groups k?
