Thread: changes for the piloting profession
If they made piloting any easier...I'd leave. Not that many of you would care..but thats not my point. If anything they should be making it harder to achieve status of Ace but perhaps leave it as it is in order to acquire all the aspects of master. I think we had this mentioned before. Ie...
Do all the grinding etc etc....kill 30 TIES/Rebels whatever....kill vette then yayness. Ok Now you have all the abilities an Ace woul dhave but....
In order to achieve 'ace' there should be somthing a bit harder I think nowadays. Especially since a lot of us pilots are regrinding the pilot profession within a couple of days anyway.
I dunno. Hey...maybe even make 'Ace' a title that you can only achieve once your flying and track records has been reviewed by some kind of piloting ace SOE dev where you had been refferred to them by your fellow pilots. That'd be kinda funky...if not totally unrealistic. *shrug*. All I want is GCW in space...thats all.

Make space HARDER!!! When a person can SOLO the mission required to reach master pilot, then it is not hard enough. The vette should be the tier 4 exit mission and they should come up with a series of even harder missions to reach master. Unlike the ground game where skill is less important than high quality armor and weapons, space requires real skill. A nice ship helps, but a less agile and lighter armed Awing can still take a more agile and more heavily armed JSF in PvP. Skill matters. Master pilot is a title, but is by no means a measure of skill in the current system. As for loot, I won't complain as I'm a SW too...if uber loot was dropping left and right, why would we need SWs? Plus, it is more rewarding when you have hunted down all of the right parts to RE into the ultimate item.
I think this is a very wise post and I would like to subscribe to your weekly newsletter ![]()
However on the flip side, I can remember grinding my pilot profession for the first time and way back then when I knew nothing, it did feel hard enough. *shrug* Maybe its just a question of adding more content for when pilots reach master status rather than making pre-master stuff harder.

Another idea that is kind of off topic...make a chassis specific repair kit for the reward ships to repair them from decay. Give SWs this ability and I think that more people would be overt more often as they wouldn't worry about decay on their precious little reward ships being damaged outside of DS. And thus, space PvP would become more common.

1. change the amount of exp needed to get skill boxes
the way it is right now is anVERY long grind
WHOis going to play long enough to
get 1 million exp??
my system is this teir one 20k teir two 60k
teir three 150k teir four 400k master 1 mil
you'll still have to grind but not as much
or as long as the current system
Agreed, 1 1/2 weeks from novice to Ace is way too long. We should take it one step further and make the only qualification for Ace being able to find the "Launch Ship" button.
2. loot drops need an increase
space loot is nice but i'm not looting
nearly as much as i would like
2a. more space loot
looting components is fine but why
not have other things to loot
like the flight computers or the
astromechs or the texture kit they
used on the star ship or a chip that we
could take to an npc and exchange for
anything we want
Agreed. We should get at least a10k max damage .20 speed .9/.9 1k mass blaster eveery time we blow up a ship of any level.
3. a surrender command
a command would allow us to
surrender and lose some faction points
in exchange for ALL of the enemies
not fighting you until you go and
repair your ship at the nearest
space station
this or bring back no wounds in space
Better yet, a time out button. A black and white striped ship bursts in and holds back the enemy while you go lick your wounds.
well those are my top three
Once you've mastered pilot the first time, it all gets alot easier(not just because of the gear and exp bonus - you pick up alot of different tactics during different missions). If I'd done Vortex sraight off I think I would have had more trouble than I did when it was my 4th mastery (though first Rebel squad that I did). I probabably would have died more often, and not just thought "ooh, hordes and hordes of opponents... FUN!"
Being sent a tell saying "Nice flying" from the 9x master in the KSE firespray who appeared as I was killing the ravager's escort, in my Longprobe, was a nice moment...

Not to mention I think duties were intended by the Devs to be natural pauses.
Psychopaths like us would blow through them in 60-90 minutes, but it'd take a novice a lot longer, letting them get used to the idea of being one vs. many.
The only duty missions that ever made me crazy where the damned escort missions. Its enough to make you want to bang your head on the desk to have to escort a ship flying 1/3 the speed of that lard butt yacht...
