Thread: Upcoming Faction Changes and Pilot Factions...
i think it makes more sense to have space rebels, also be rebels on the ground.

i don't think being a "combatant, on leave" will be too hard for crafters. even if they get "outted" and killed, there is no decay in a faction death.

This is thinking of someone that play imperial or a rebel.
now give me one single reason a imperial or rebel should be allowed to fly a neutral space ship, while a neutral should nto be allowed to fly theirs?
There is no way to explain or justify the unjust made towards the population that chose to remain neutral civilians, should Civilians be able to go on leave as rebels or imperials as well?
I know GCW is a major part of SWG, but there is no justification to alienate one part of their customers to less gameplay experience then another part of their customer base.
personally i dont think there should be a lock on what skills your able to learn of pilot skills. just that your faction lock and decide what ship your able to launch based on your current faction at the time your trying to do it. yes this would mean a imperial player character would not be able to launch their imperial ship in any way for as long they are on leave, they would have to get a neutral ship to fly around in as long as they remain neutral (on leave)
A neutral player that have a X wing or B wing or whatever, could easy have one in their data pad, but there is no way for them to take adavantage of Rebel pilot skills or even launch any of them unless they are rebel faction.
im being the devils advocate here. The changes will not really affect me personally in much way, but still there is no justification for them to say if your imperial then its ok, if your rebel then its ok, but if your neutral then its not ok. that excluding part of the player base from the same rights and regulations that other follow.

I am relieved that I will still be able to fly my neutral level ships, as I have attained master and don't wish to give up my YT under any circumstances. I would rather be made a neutral on the ground than have to regrind a new piloting skill. What I seem to be hearing is that this change is not effecting any piloting trees, just effecting the ground faction. So people don't have to incur any cost in equipment as they are only shifting from Neutral to the faction they fly for. However, there are people who are neutral on the ground that may wish to remain that way, and not be thrust into a ground faction. In that case, I would think that people should be given a choice, either join the rebellion, or be made a neutral pilot of their choice. Yes, they will be made to repurchase various chassis, but lower tier ships aren't that expensive and money coming from looting flows pretty freely. I imagine that within a week to 2 weeks, they could rebuild their personal fleet, especially if they could trade ships to other pilots who might be looking for a particular chassis. This way, people at least get the option to jump one way or the other. Since this is a change that is being made despite the original intention of JTL, I would think allowing a choice would be the most fair way to make this happen. And if an announcement was made about this on the launchpad, it would give pilots more warning that this was coming, and they could save their credits accordingly.
A few of us seem to agree with this, but so far hardly anyone that is actually in this sittuation seems to have posted here (Either they don't know or they don't care).
The word definately needs to go out to the players (Beyond these forums as well).
I can just imagine some of the reactions when a neutral that didn't know this was coming is turned to a Rebel (On-Leave).
I am currently Ground Neutral and Space Rebel.
I was planning on joining the Rebel Ground faction soon though, so I'm not one of the players that would be negatively effected by this.
When I read about the changes, I did have to stop and consider what I would prefer to do. Like I said though, I had already planned to join the Rebellion... so there wasn't much of an issue for me.
It's just an odd sittuation brought about by an earlier design decision. That decision was questioned extensively during JTL Beta and most thought that a ground neutral player should not be allowed to be a space Rebel or Imperial Pilot.
It's just a shame that they released it that way and now may be messing up a few players.
Again, it's a good change... I just think there should be an option for the players in question.
We still need to hear from more ground neutrals with GCW Faction Pilot Professions.
I seriously doubt they'll give the players the option anyway.
It reminds me of when the details of the Jedi Revamp was announced and there was a big issue about "Main Characters becoming FS".
A lot of people had worked hard towards unlocking that second character slot to be a Jedi... using thier favorite characters that they had no desire to turn into Jedi in order to unlock.
SOE did not care at all about those concerns and gave no options to those that were so negatively effected by that change in design.
I doubt this change will be any different in that respect.
I'd rather regrind a pilot profession any day than grind (never mind re-grind) for Jedi.
May the force be with you.

I got a question about this stuff. Im a netural pilot and netrual on the ground. i was wanting to go rebel on the ground. but if i do this what will happen to me in space when this stuff goes live? will i be put as a rebel in space and lose my exp for space ? or will i remain netrual in space and reb on the ground?
No, you will be fine.
You can be Rebel or Imperial and be a "Neutral" Pilot.
You just cannot be a Neutral and fly as a Rebel or Imperial Pilot.
So, having Neutral Pilot and becoming a Rebel or Imperial on the ground will not change your Piloting career.

Well to make a stupid example just to point out what is going on, i will ask the silly question anyway.
How do I unregister JTL on my account?
The terms have changed in no long concour with the term of use agreement assosiated with jtl, under no circumstances i will allow that to influence my other bought product that follow a totally different user agreement.
i did no realise that buying a second product from sony would totally change my first bought product from the same company so that i no longer can use the first product as I intended.
As i said silly example but ......there is a valid point.
While I understand the feeling, TOS specificly states that gameplay will change over time. So while this is a change from ground/space alignment, nothing on the TOS reflects the 2 changing eachother.
But I am pushing for some type of resolution on this.

I was just thinking about this.... Im a Jedi Knight, but Smuggler's Alliance pilot in space. Does this mean that I will be forced to drop Neut Pilot and go Alliance pilot?
