Thread: Upcoming Faction Changes and Pilot Factions...

Well having Imp/Imp and Imp/RSF pilots, neither of my characters are effected by this change but the idea of defection is probably the best way to go about this.

When this change goes in, having an email go out to all pilots effected by these changes (or maybe like when a new JtL player gets off the transport and has to choose their squad) with something like (Rebel example):

"With the recent flare up in the war, we could really use a good pilot like you on the ground. I can fast-track your application into the Rebel ground forces if you'd like to join us on the ground, but we understand if you have commitments elsewhere.

Rebel Command, out."

Obviously needs to be fleshed out, but you get the idea. A pilot would get to keep their skill boxes in the pilot profession they're trained in but would either lose the ability to train more boxes (non-Aces) or lose all (or a fraction of) their current prestige points. They would be able to regain prestige points but as a Neutral Pilot.

If a pilot wanted to rejoin their squad they'd talk to the Coordinator and then get to choose from the three squads. It makes sense that a returning skilled pilot wouldn't be forced to go back to his old squad, but be able to choose from the others. They'd lose their prestige (or a fraction of it) if they gained any as a Neutral if they were Aces, and would be tossed right back in if they weren't.

It takes the cost of retraining boxes and getting new ships out while still keeping some penalty if you choose to not to join the ground war (Prestige hit or no training).

I personally prefer a lose of some Prestige for Aces beacuse if you're a great pilot (Han for example) the factions would know it, not like they know their own Aces, but still, word gets around .

Ok, here is a question for you.

RSF Freelance Ace. Rebel factioned on the ground. But RSF is aligned towards Imperial.

How will this be affected?

I know this has been asked, as I have asked it before. But I have seen no answers.

So soe impose this change because they say they want people to be more Faction oriented in both space and on ground.

yet they allow you to be imerial on ground but still tell you to kill the Imperial Corvette for your master pilot badge?

Yes i agree it all makes perfectly sense, shrug.

Flying a TIE should require Imperial Faction, period.

As for Rebels and Neutrals,I think they *should* mix and match like they are now with one condition:

Make it a Smuggler Attribute!

Smugglers should be able to do this, shift back and forth. But the combonation would have to be, Smuggler on ground, and Smuggler pilot training (the Jabba Pilot tree). This combonation should let you fly for whomever you like.

If you fly RSF, you are RSF, neutal cops. If you fly Naboo, you are neutral, again, cops. if you fly Smuggler, and you are not a ground smuggler, you are neutral, criminal.

Um, where else then? We are talking about how to align faction on ground/space, I am just submitting my opinion....I am not sure how this is irrelivant. Sorry, was not meaning to hi-jack.

I hope you got the fairly joking mannerin my reply.

Trying to keep this on topic, specificly about concerns with the up-comming changes related to "ground neutral, factional space pilots" And them getting changed to a ground faction when the TEF publish goes live.

Ahh, my mistake, you are discussing the actual mechanic of how to make this work, not what should actually happen. Gottcha.

OOC Ok, could anyone please explain to me what is so bad at becoming "on leave" instead of neutral? What exactly warrants all this excitement? I still fail to see how anyone is affected in any significant way by becoming "on leave" instead of neutral on the ground.

Anyone?

The only practical aspect I see is being "outed" by a scan, but really...deep down...I don't see one. I agree with you, it seems insignificant EXCEPT in one respect. As an example, I have a Neutral toon, with positive faction on both sides, enough to join if I choose, and do some of the fluff missions that gain different rewards (but don't forsce you into killing the opposing faction that often, if you're clever). IF she was an aligned pilot, and now forced into that faction, there would be no "simple switch" for her. In SWG, its a pretty simple matter to change sides, In SWG+ JtL it isnt now.

That's the only hangup I see Ramona, but really I agree it's not a terribly big deal.

I'm a noob...been playing since March 6 2005...so less than a week now. I wanted to fly so the first day I played this guy in a uniform gives me a Tie fighter and says fly. Next thing I know I'm in the Imperial Navy...bah, I didn't want that. I want to switch to Rebel pilot. My factions points are around -588 Imp and +258 Reb.

I went to the Rebel Pilot trainer and he said I had some nerve coming to see him.

I went to the Imperial Recruiter and resigned, losing all my pilot experience points. Now my status says "Imperial On Leave"

I want to go rebel....I want to pilot for the rebels.

How do I lose that "Imperial On Leave" status???? I get nothing but crap from rebels.
