You are making the assumption that half of teh decay in teh game wsa due to pvp. That seems to me to be a very flawed assumption.

PVP should be encouraged and the decay just stopped people form PvP'ing

You get no rewards from PVP...as in ground it was found that High Risk No Reward does not work when they implimented groud decay

Yea but then again I cant afford 750K+ ever few weeks for a new YT-1300 + Components jsut for PvP sake.

Idon't play SWG to work, or do things that are not fun yet "neccessary". I don't need such chores to have fun either.

If you're foolish enough to drive your car off of the same hillside, and again turn your chassis into a Ruffles Potato chip, you may or may not be able tostraighten it. Thatis simply a fact of life. Again, simple laws of physics and metallurgy apply. The more times you stress a structure beyond its normal load specifications, the shorter it's lifespan will be.

I ought to know.. I have destroyed several automobiles, and a couple of airframes, in my long and (somewhat) checkeredlifetime.

Time for a "reality check", kiddies... Fractures andwarping in steel, aluminum and copper can only be "repaired" so many times... after which, all one can do is "buy a new chassis"... or "buy a new vehicle."

In a simulation where there is an economy specifically designed to mimic the realities of a growing (or in our current case a "stagnating") gaming economy (to include a complete branch devoted to repair and refit of starships), whiningabout decay on ship chassis and components in a such volume and timbre that the Developers "give in to the Mob Mentality"... well it simplymakes me sick.

/rant on

What I have seen is a bunch of children that always have to have it easy... children that never thought, for a moment, that the game has something to teach... For that manner, children that never think... period.

"Boo hoo.. It's too hard to make exp... Make it easier,,,"

"Boo hoo.. I dont have time to make the credits required to repair my ship... make it easier..."

"Boo hoo.. I can't possibly make enough credits to replace components after PvP... Take PvP Decay AWAYYYY!!!"

"Boo hoo.. I don't understand... explain it to me in words of two syllables or less..."

"Boo hoo.. I can't... will you do it for me?"

/rant off

Grow up kiddees... if you dont do it now, then you'll eventuallydiscover that realitytend's to be extremelyharsh and uncaring.

Sheesh... Now I'll have to listen to all the flames, snide remarks and downright hostility... Oh well.. nothing that i am not inured to.

so.... "bring it".

This is almost completely false. You are making a statement based on your own values and not nearly everyones. People stick with the best once they find it. They don't want to change up if they find something that is good. It is a refusal to change and it is common. Hell look at comp armor. It is the best and there are few who don't use it that can afford it. Players want to be the best so they buy the best stuff. The amount of people that will do this is a fraction small enough to be irrelevant. The one question I have is why are people so afraid of dieing? I farm less than half the amount people say they do and I have plenty of money to keep my stuff up. If I die so what I lose a bit of condition. Hell I got slaughtered by a reb jedi today in the live event at anchorhead but I don't care because it was fun. I also killed 2 players and a commodore. I am sure others did better , IE that jedi, but it is just fun. If you lose your equipment it will take not even one buff session to gain it back.

Well Naja let me carefully explain something to you... This is a GAME... and games are supposed to be fun. PVP is supposed to be fun... haveing your ship trashed completely in a matter of days and then haveing to replace it is NOT fun, especially being that space does not generate cash enough to support its self. Decayless pvp is just fine. Go cry some where else.

/sigh

If I had a dollar for everytime someone threw the old line of "This is a GAME", I would probably be quite wealthy.

Fact of the matter is... this is NOT a game.. Even though SOE market's it as a "game", it is, in fact, a Simulation.

Games have a defined goal with a limited lifespan... easily seen, although perhaps tough to reach... but an end-goal just the same. Football is a game... Golf is a game... Soccer is a game... Ping Pong is a game... Monopoly is a game... The original XW-CD was a game... The Olympics are games... any type of competition that can be looked at and seen as having a definite goal "can be defined" as a game. Until the advent of MMORPG across networks, ALL PC games were exactly that... games with specified goals.

Simulations have certain characteristics that are common across the genre...

- They all tend to have no defined goal

- The tend to be self-sustaining

- They tend to be complex, with intertwined facets and an economy which are wholely interdependent on each other

- They can have an infinite number of permutations of outcome based on events and input from participants.

- They normally "mimic" aspects of reality... True, it is almost impossible to mimic all aspects of reality when building and maintaining a simulation based on Science Fiction/Fantasy.

- They all tend to teach things... economics... resource management... tactics... cooperation... etc., etc., etc.

The developers of SWG have done a marvelous job in building a superior simulation which could be fun and live forever, if people would shut up and learn to work the simulation of SWG within the boundaries of the defined simulation parameters. They might even learn a thing or two about the mechanics of "real life"... before they have to go out into the "real world" and get slapped down into the "real gutters."

As far as your statement to "... go cry somewhere else", I guess that I'll have to lower myself to your level, even though it really pains me to do so, and respond with something that you'll have no trouble understanding and in words of two syllables or less (see original posting)... "go pack sand until it gags you, twerp."

Simulation?? Man your just plain clueless... If it were a "simulation" there would be colision damage, all fighters player and nps would be a 3 hit to kill max, on the ground there would be falling damage, and one head shot would be fatal.. Swg is not even close to a simulation.. Want a flight sim go play one of the fine Micosoft ones.
Want a game play this, want to cry.. go some where else.

We dont need "sting". We need fun. The majority has already sproken to the devs on this... the side that wanted pvp decay lost.. The issue is over. Plain and simple of it.. I do not want to beforced to pay the huge prices on most shipwrights even one more time. I do not want to have to spend 12 hours grinding money on the ground so i can spend 3 hours pvping in space every other day.
Other then pleasing greedy crafters, decay does absolutly ZERO for the pilot community...in fact it harms us..

Can we please stop making comparisons of game mechanics to Real Life. I am tired of seeing posts like this one and the posts where people complain that they should be able to kill Night Sisters with a rusty knife because in the real world a night sister isn't going to have gotten a tetanus shot and with one hit the rusty knife will cause a massive DOT that will kill her and since they always wear armor I should always get both thier armor and weapons as loot. And in Real Life if I drove my car off a cliff like a speeder bike it should blah blah blah

Come on its a game!

Stop making these illogical comparisons to Real Life in order to rationalize something that you dont't agree with in the game. Its just ridiculous.

Thats funny since I know many new players that are So broke they can bearly afford armor or 250k ships let alone a new ship every few weeks if they PvP with it. Even when I was a new player i was Broke for months, slicing kept me alive with soem bank but if i was just doing that still I would be broke with less the a Mil credits after 16+ months of playing.

Sorry, and no offense but your friends aren't very good. My friend started playing a month ago and has gotten 2 masters and has gotten a quite large amount of credits. Nearly one million while still paying for wook armor. Another didn't do quite as good but still does quite well for himself. How can it no be easy to make money. All you have to do is get buffed and you can take 5k missions when you first start out. You don't even have to master a prof and you can take mokks and Jantas for 15-27k (BTW that was before patch). Still even now you can make a arge sum of money very quickly for a mere 10000 down payment. And proof of this, my other friend is a firm disbeliever in buffs and rarely gets them... he is nearly a hobo in game. It is easy to pay for ship decay. I think you guys just take 2000 credit missions. and destroy all your loot that is worth a couple million+.
