Thread: How to Fix the Jedi Fighter.
Shut up el, lol ![]()
90% of the pilots out there outfit their awings just the same way the imps outfit their T/I only xception is that the rebels use their reward gun and the imps use the boltdriver. I hardycall that unballanced. The boltdriversure is less powerfull buthas higherrefire rate. and the T/I has alot bigger spreading guns then the awing so it evens out, remeber that one bolt can do the maximum dmg of the gun.
Imps also got the opressor, to use missiles on us awingers, so you got two tactics to choose from. Personally tho ive never been locked by a missle tho. ![]()
Im sure you can fit a lvl 10 engine on a T/I too, if your dumb enough to try, gimme a break. ![]()

Alyxian you missed my point, funny how you also didn't say if you put your reward level 8 in the Interceptor, my guess is you can't. Ritha if the JF was lowered to 50k mass the 2nd gun would be pointless, and it would be the same thing as my Interceptor.
You have a level 8 in a TIE Interceptor.... please post the Screen Shots, plus I want to see the weapons I shields you have in it....
I have some of the best RE stuff on both my servers. Also have a small collection of RE'ed PreNerf level 6 and 8's.
Why I like the Jedi fighter so much is it can be effective at pvp and pve at the same time. When my TIE Interceptor is maxxed out for pvp I wouldn't last long vs Tier 5's in Deepspace.

Lowering the mass on these ships probably isn't an option anymore. As we've seen before, when the devs make mass changes to certain chassis, ships that exsisted before the fix don'tget affected by the change. If they nerf the mass on any of the new fighters, all the ones that currently exsist will probably keep their high mass, thus creating a situation were some players will forever have overpowered ships. What they need to do instead is just nerf the rediculous manueverability stats that all these new ships have, since those stats are tied to the chassis,so you won't have to worry about leaving a bunch of pre-nerf ships flying around.
The Heavy TIE, Heavy Scyk, Heavy Z95, and Jedi Starfightershould all have their manueverability stats changed to be the same as the Dune Lizard, and the three Heavy fighters should have their piloting certs moved to Tier III or Tier IV. The Grevious fighter also needs to be nerfed, but not in the same manner. Right now it has identical stats to the Jedi Starfighter, however it has a much larger hit profile. It needs to have some sort of difference from the Jedi Starfighter to make up for the greater ease with which it can be hit by incoming fire. Two possibilities would be to either set its manueverability to be slightly better than that of a dunelizard, or go ahead and give it the same manueverabilty as a dunelizard, but give it a second ordinance slot to compensate for its larger hit profile.
If they made these changes, the new ROTW fighters would still be nice, and in some ways would still be better than pre-ROTW ships, however they would be close enough that the slight variations in pilot skill would cover up the differences.
Using that logic the TIE Bomber should have 4 gun slots and 6 missle bays.
The Y-8 runs rings around em.
Sylia wrote:I don't get it....I don't get any of what any of you are saying, it makes no sense.
As a Storm Ace, I have not even bothered to look at the new heavy TIE Ln .... you know why?
1 gun, 1 missle, and still less mass than what I fly now.
I can find no reason whatsoever for me to even bother trying to fit anything in it.
So any noob pilots will have a higher mass option than I did .... it won't last till they'll want more than 1 gun, 1 missle, and they'll move on to thier next tier ships like normal.
What's the big deal?
Are you that clueless? Since you sound like an imp pilot, i'll put this in terms you can understand.
Teir 0: heavy T/f 1 gun, 1 missle, 95K mass, Best YPR of any imperial ship.
teir 1: T/F, 1 gun, 1 missle, 20K mass
Teir 2: T/ln 1 gun, 1 missle 40K mass
teir 3: T/I 1 gun, 1 missle, 50K mass (T/B is excempt)
teir 4: T/A 2 guns, 1 missle, 65K mass ( T/Agg is a noob ship)
At teir 0, you get a better fighter then anything in the inventory excepting MAYBE the T/A. Why bother with any other ship? Which leads me to the real reason why these new heavy starters (not to mention ships like the JDS ) over overpowered.
95K mass, you can fit in an L8 shield, L8 cannon, L8 engine, MK II IR missle.. VERY easily. I know some pilots who are fitting in level 10 parts. You can't fit all that into a T/A. Combine this type if speed, this type of manuverablty, with Engine overload 4. Have you ever thought of this? In both PvE, and espeically PvP, this is so over the top as to be game breaking.
Just because a ship only has 1 gun mount, doesnt make it worthless.
Sylia wrote:They do not handle twice as good as an A-wing.The interceptor is the only one that actually does handle better than the A-wing, and it is only fractionally. Not to mention it's not getting a mass upgrade.Take your PvP whining and shove it, Kessel and DS are not empty because of some illusion, or lack thereof of "balance". And yes, I call idiots just that.
You can take your bad attitude, and shove it. Oh wait, nevermind, i think its already in a region where the sun doesn't shine. Have you looked at the chassis YPR modifiers at all? They are twice the T/I and the A wing. Something on the order of 10.2 yaw and pitch verses the A wings 4.4 yaw and pitch, and the T/I's 5.4 yaw and pitch Have you personnaly flown all these ships to have a basis to draw your conclusions? Or do have you had your head stuck in your own little world full of its own assumptions?
The T/I and the T/A acutally have the same chassis YPR mods, the only difference is in cornering speed. The T/I's cornering speed is acutlly just under 100% throttle while the T/A is somwhere in the 85% range. But they both have the same chassis YPR mods.
As much as you talk about PvP, if you had anything resembling experience in PvP, why these ships stats are wrong the way they are currently, should be crystal clear to you. Just because PvP is dead on your server, doesnt mean its dead on others, nor does the game revolve around what you think.
FYI, next time you come into this forum and call everyone idiots, i suggest you take a good long look in the mirror first.

You specified Interceptor *AND* advanced. I specified it is in my advanced.

Okay, of all the arguments for changing the JF, this one is by far the weakest, and also the most senseless.
First of all, this is a game not the real world. Second, if you want to force "reality" into the argument we're talking about something "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away" remember?
Finally, age can mean something however if you keep pressing the real-life aspect of things into the game, consider this:
Technology doesn't necessarily move forward at a steady pace for all things. If you want a real comparison to the Jedi Starfighter, consider the F-14 Tomcat. This fighter came into service in 1972, which means it was on the drawing boards and flight testing in the 1960's. It reigns today as the premier inteceptor on the planet.
It's over 30 years old.
The components have been modernized, but the airframe is still the same.
Sound familiar?
While I don't mind comparing arguments about what should or shouldn't happen with the new ships, I'm completely tired of people dragging a "timeline" into the argument, when it's pretty obvious that the whole timeline thing is borked in this game.
In other words, argue on merits, not months okay?
No. my opinion stands.

I've only used a TIE Advanced for pvp twice, and that was just flying from system to system overt. Any Imperial Pilot will tell you the Interceptor is their main pvp ship, I know some that use the Oppressor because of the missles.
Most Imperial pilots I know flew the Advanced for pvp, followed by the oppressor.

Tie oppressor for teh win! No seriously! It is A wing death. The balance issue acutally has been, and still favors the Empire. The Tie opperssor is the only starfighter that has 3 missle mounts. Three MKII IR's (incase you havent heard) shuts down A wings about as fast as flipping a light switch. It is the A wing trump card, and it's an ablity that nothing in the rebel or privateer ship inventory can match.
This is if you can maneuver and get a lock on the A-wing sure, but it all really depends on the pilot. I am pretty sure that if both pilots had the same skills, the A-wing one would have the advantage. Anyways, who dogfights in PvP with missiles?
It's easier than you think. But you have to do two things.
1.) have an engien that gives you at least a 1.3 chassis YPR
2.) macro 35-40% throttle settings.
Getting a lock on an A wing is REALLy easy. You dont have to be exact, just sort of paint them with your hud for a second, thats all it takes. You'd be amazed how fast an oppressor can turn/slide around.
My first impressions of the Fighter in question:
- Fast, frighteningy so
- huge Mass wise, got cert 8 engine, reward shields, and 2 cert 7 guns into it. probably more with tinkering
- Did I mention fast?
- great turning speed
- Way to easy to get. The hardest thing I fought was level 32, and that was just the damn wookie in the choke point of the trail, everything else was level15-25. Kind of silly really, I did not even use a stim.
Basically, it is awesome!! And I want it nerfed.
I like the Heavy Syck, should be Tier 3 at least though.
I like the heavy TIE, should be Tier 3-4 though, it will give the TIE fighter vs Alliance effect nicely.
But the Jedi fighter...it is too much. I think the imp ships should be fast and nimble, and this ship...sure, but cut the mass. This is not even funny. I am all for getting that "edge", but this throws the balance way off. Give me another gun port on the Red Interceptor, and cut the mass on this thing...will be better.
EDIT: Oh, and the Advanced is a great PvP ship. Come to StarSider, we will show you how to use it effectivly.

With a ship at exact same stats avail to EVERY faction (the grievous fighter) it's not imbalancing across the pilot professions.
What I see here is mostly people afraid of losing their edge they have over newer players who due to the massive lootnerfs have no real chance to collect the items needed to get ships compared to our "old pilot"-ships.
Basically, as long as not every single item crafted is at least equal in all aspects to looted/re'ed stuff piloting is and will remain very imbalanced anyway, those who aced early had a much easier time to collect very decent loot compared to people who started after the great loot nerfs. I suggest everyone of the old ppl to roll a character on a new server and see yourself what you can do there with the small amounts of mostly junky loot you collect, a new pilot spending the same time on outfitting his ship that we did *will* end up with a quite inferior ship compared to ours due to the nerfed loot drops. He just cannot make his stuff light enough to fit all we tend to use on the light ships, thus putting heavier but still very nimble crafts in the game is the logical solution if the other one (un-nerf loot) is not the way to go (I can understand the reasons for this). New players also do not own the bugged lowmass/good speed droid interfaces we all have in our ships and do not have access to the pre-fixed low mass launchers etc pp...
There's btw no real point in nerfing the ships many pilots now enjoy flying just because the small handful of space pvp'ers each server has (with starsider as exception) dislike it. Annoy many pve-pilots to cater the needs of one of the smallest minorities existing in the game? Not reasonable for the devs IMHO
The way to go is to give the pre-rotw fighters (the old heavy ships are still just fine as they have their advantages in their "roles" still with more weapon and/or missile slots) a boost so they are again a viable choice, not nerfing the rotw ships down to the pre-rotw ship values.
