They should just fix WO3, and make it raise drain and energy per shot, instead of lowering it. That would fix a lot.

Yes it will. MY ship won't even be able to perform the way it does now after they fix it

Mine luckily will be able to... We will have to see how it turns out when they fix it

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I think PvP should be based around set ship designs and I also think it should incorporate the systems of X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter as much as possible.

My thinking is that the goal of PvPers in space should really be encouraging participation. If folks want grind based combat skills and ubergear there's plenty of that in the ground game. Space should be where it's about pure player skill. And, frankly, even as it stands it's the only part of SWG that looks or feels like Star Wars. Why not continue on in that vein? If you make PvP ships fixed in capability and, perhaps, purchased via Faction Points (rather cheaply but scaled to ability)rather than having to spend credits more players would get involved because they'd not have to worry about decay on prized custom ships for PvE with rare parts. Yes, we can fix things by going into Deep Space and jumping out but that does kind of feel like an exploit if the damage getting fixed wasn't actually incurred in Deep Space. Wouldn't count on that sticking around as a permanent feature.

Still, everyone does like customing and personalizing ships so they should be a part of the PvE game.

Level the technical playing field and eliminate the most serious consequences of getting destroyed and I deeply suspect you'd see alot more folks participating.

I'd also trash the current droid/program system and even rethink pilot class abilities so they make a bit more sense. Right now as folks are pointing out everyone's found the best programs and just toggles 'em on. Whee. And few pilot abilities are very worthwhile especially for Privateers. Aside from IFF what does anyone use?

Just my two cents. I really don't see anything changing, any time soon. Certainly nothing as radical as what I've proposed.

>>I think PvP should be based around set ship designs

There is not set ship desgin. No two ships are alike under the hood. Making it that way would help greatly in any type of game balancing, however it also effectivley removes half of the games content as SW's and REing at that point would be dead. Removing those two elements acutally removes alot of reasons to play for many.

Precisely. Going to a set ship design where all craft perform at a baseline spec would be no different than, say, having all weapons crafted do the same damage, have the same speed, and have the same HAM costs, because those weapons should be "built so factory specifications."

No, while it might be a bit unbalancing or daunting, I like the current system.

The way the current system works now, ive come to beleive that whoever spends the msot time farming for those perfect parts to RE, will have the advantage. Infact mastering SW, AND spend alot of time part farming, is a huge advantaqge and i beleive one of the reasons for my successes in PvP on my server. The ablity to tinker with your ships is huge. Just last sunday i spent all day buying HQ resoruces and redoing certain parts.. shave a little mass here and there, and my results were my reactor output no longer in the red, and being able to equip microchaff over standard chaff.

If my chassis turn radius is 1.2, i can make it 1.3, and if that doesnt get me what i want, ill make it 1.4. Not everyone can do that. THey have to wait, beg, barter, and network for SW's who are becoming increasingly rare. But, really the sad truth of it is that equipment does matter.. it gives you an edge. much akin to hot rodders working on their cars . Whoever soups their stuff up the best will probably win the race. Soemtimes its over the top. I know of at least one pilot who ive come to realize i will NEVER kill in anything but a T/O because of his *cough* "shield adujsted" RE'ed reward shield that puts him at 4K+ front/back shielding.

I can't see why it'd be a problem. Custom ships would still be desireable for PvE content. And this would make PvP in space a purely skill oriented game. If it's not the actual PvP that's fun why even do it? And if there aren't that many people participating because of the high threshold for entry, how much PvP is actually going to go on?

Ask the old X-Wing vs. TIE vets around here. They loved getting online and forming squadrons even though they couldn't grind up or hoard parts with great stats.

The big motivation for PvP should be GCW content and that needs alot of work. But if you like PvP in space why should you have to spend millions of credits on desireable parts (assuming you can even find the really good old stuff anymore) or hundreds of hours grinding duty missions? Wouldn't that time be better spent organizing PvP activity and participating?

Shield adjusting boosts one side and takes away from the other. These programs are actually one of the few programs that is balanced. One of the programs may be bugged? and give a bonus to both sides. But someone with one of those pre nerf shields that has 3800/3800 on front and back using a forward adjust extreme (175% front, 25% rear) would be REALLY hard to take out 1 on 1. Add a big chunk of armor onto that and long as he can keep his front pointed at you you're in serious trouble.)

I agree that the primary thing JTL needs is more GCW content. They could fix pvp perfectly and if there was nothign to do but blast each other in deep space nothign will change. I really want them to build new battlegrounds in space so that players can be involved in little skirmishes between teh empire and rebellion or right in teh middle of a war raging over Endor. Deathstar and all.

But as one of the few that has spent countless hours grinding my way to the best ship possible I don't like the idea of getting rid of those parts and just using stock ships for pvp. Customizing ships for pvp is a lot of fun imo and I'd recommend to any pilto to become a shipwright asap because it gives you a huge advantage. As long as the pvp damage system stays somewhat close to what it is now ships with less powerful equipment can still compete. And it is fair that players who's spent obscene amounts of time looking for gear will have a slight, or in some cases huge, advantage.

It's simple really. Dunno if it still works, and i hope it doesnt.

You get two L8 reward shields.
Put one in, adjust to front, and land. (remember the shield adjustment used to stay how it was after you landed.
Put the 2nd one in, adjust to rear, and land.

Take both, find yourself a low mass L8 shield, low reactor drain, etc etc. and RE the whole kittenkaboodle. Add the what.. 6 or 7% RE bonus on top of that. THere ya go, 4Kish F/b shields.
