I think the reason they don't do this is simply because in order to make this happen enemy fire power would end up being strong enough to take out your ship in 2-5 hits. (?) and that probably wouldn't make people very happy... Imagine if the tie aggressor packed a corvette sized punch...

I think the best solution is to work toward a system that keeps pve more or less the same as it is now, save being able to take out cap ships so easy, and adjust pvp so that battles have more tactics involved besides blasting non stop.

I wasn't suggesting that their weapons be beefed up. I was suggesting that they use better tactics than flying around in circles. Idon't think I've ever had a pair of ships work in tandem against me, and I rather dislike that.

Either way, much as I'd like to see it happen, I don't think a truly better AI is in the cards for us. But it's still worth throwing out (from the standpoint of how to preserve PVP without breaking PVE).

As far as droid commands go, I'd rather they did away with decay on parts as a penalty. Instead, keep the extra power drain, fix Weapon Overload 3, and give droids a limited processor in combination with memory.

The processor would determine how "well" commands would run. It would be experimentable by droid engineers, and would restrict two things:

1.) How many programs could be running at a time

2.) How well those programs are running

You could run programs up until the processor is at maximum capacity, but beyond that maximum capacity your programs start to degrade in efficiency. Your engine overload 3 program, for example, would give bonuses at less than the standard number because your droid is trying to juggle too much at once. We all know how well Windows can handle multitasking sometimes...

Justa random thought.

I'm only concerned about them fixing wpn overload 3 first tbo. You will not be able to fire all day if it was working correctly.

The Freelancer programs are all messed up as well giving huge bonus's with no tradeoff's. Those can be fixed later, but wpn overload 3 is hopefully the first one to get fixed.

Everyone, wait till WO3 is fixed, get some skill instead of getting blown up, then complain about change after. Thank you.

Precisely. And if there's no decisions to be made, no tradeoffs to contemplate... then why have them at all?

Still hoping to see a change on that FWIW. Not sure if its being worked on. But lots of stuff to tweak/test in RoTW

Everyone has been waiting, it's well past due. You realize JTL has been going since October of last year? You realize April is the 6 month birthday for this expansion/game? (I really consider JTL it's own seperate game. If they'd expand it more and fix some of these issues I'd say goodbye to ground game for good.)

Just wait...are you kidding?

great thread guys..an excellent discussion. I have little to add here as I think you all have some excellent ideas and I 100% agree that droid commands need to be fixed. To all those who are proposing more changes beyond simply fixing WO3 and adding some better penalty to Cap Overload 3 and RO3, I say this....baby steps.

we all know what happens when the devs fix even the smallest problem...something else gets borked up. This is not to rag on the dev team, as I think they do a damn fine job keeping this game going and *relatively* bug free. I am mearly pointing out that we need not do anything drastic all at once. I think we should see exactly what fixing WO3 does before we plead with them to fix or revamp all droid commands. I think the current system is pretty sweet and all I really want is for WO3 to work properly and for RO3 to have some kind of negative (reducing shield effectiveness comes to mind).

Let them do that and give us a month to test and critique and then we can start thinking bigger changes if necessary.

Personally, I think WO3 needs to be fixed and that is all. If it took5 hits to finish me, i'd never die. period.

That long already? When was it released? Heh i remmeber playing the beta and NOT being impressed. Funny how its my primary game now.

The longer SOE waits on a space revamp (and one is bound to happen at some point) the more painful its going to be.

Just keep telling yourself that as my missles scream in an nail u. Being blasted with weapons isn't the only way to do damage. If it takes 5 shots to kill you how well would u fair against an oppressor with 3 ordnance launchers all firing on you?

Combat will work fine if it takes 5 shots to kill.

i CAN carry arounter measures you know lol

if u have 3 coming at me at once, one counter measure can take care of them all

That's provided u can even get a lock on me

Missiles will be crippled without WO3... missile launcher suck a huge amount of energy as they cant be reverse engineered and can only be crafted. Very few ships will remain able to keep running WO.

As for Countermeasures you will need 1 per missile fired at you and not 1 per volley I am afraid

You keep saying that WO programms the "skill" out of JTL. Actually avoiding few shots requires a lot more "skill" than avoiding more shots. I think Ritha pretty much hits the point here.

Are you aware that those who fire constantly tell you all the time where they are curently aiming? That is one of those piloting mistakes that can make youdeal out the deadly shots while your enemy shoots into the void.
