This has already been explained. It would be prestige to FS, which would avoid any xp concerns you would have with low level pilots leeching or manipulating the bonus system.

As far as manipulating gunboats for xp.. go ahead. You can drive 3k to every target and get everyone there, then wait to make sure everyone has gotten a shot off ect, but again, I honestly dont think that would be this stellar xp myself. I can knock out waves of fighters on a duty mission as fast as they come at me, and these are nonstop for the most part, which I think would be BETTER than your atempt to exploit the xp sharing system.

As I said above, the gunboats aren't the point. The fact that anyone can get easy space XP - and competely independent of the amount of damage they do - is.

Ive never seen a spot with enough tier 5 gunboats to allow a person to make more than I can solo. If you can direct me to such a point so that I can check it out myself Id be happy to.

Nothing short of a consistantly immediately respawning tier 5 gunboat would do the trick though.

There are plenty of spots with enough tier 5 gunboats to allow a group of people to get moreprestige than they could get by going solo. Kessel and Deep Space comes to mind. There is also at the very least one spot in Dathomir.

And no, you wouldn't really need immediately respawning tier 5 gunboats to get more prestige this way than by going at it solo. Tier 4 duty missions is a decent way of getting XP solo, and I can guarantee that in the time that one solo player kills one flight of ships for 2-4k xp each, a full group will at the very minimum have destroyed two tier 5 gunboats, if not more.

Let's also not forget the fact that you only have to inflict 5% of the damage against a ship to get full XP. This isn't like the ground game where XP is shared based upon damage dealt to the target.

oh my god man. 360k exp in an hour. ubzor and roxor and all that!!! give me a break. I can cap my rifle exp in an hour on the ground and what the commandos can do is just insane. You guys need to put things in perspective a bit here. In all honesty as a master pilot at the top of my profession I can make about 1 mill exp in an hour killing T5's and that may be alot to some of you but it comes out to nearly exactly what I can do on the ground.

These facts are what makes the conversion of pilot exp or prestige points viable.

as to saying that jedi have no advantage in space, isn't there an entire line in force sensitive dedicated to accelaration and handling?

Jedi and the pursuit of Jedi have done enough to screw up this game already. I'm very sorry that some of you can't stand to see idle XP on your characters but there needs to be some separation for those of us that want to have nothing to do with Jedi. JTL is it. You pay your 15 a month to grind Jedi I pay my 15 a month to be in space away from Jedi. Jedi is a ground character and should stay that way. No conversion, no powers, if you can't fly a twitch simulator then don't bother comming up. You don't need anymore damn bonus's

Well said.

Also, dont forget that the ground based game is based on skill points. You only have a limited number of skill points to spend on professions. The Pilot Professions completely blow this open by allowing you to master a new profession without theexpendature of skill points. This is another reason why there is a seperation betweenspace and the ground.

Anyone asking for a FS conversion for pilot is simplylooking for an easier path to jedi. Plain and simple.Youchoose to persue the path to jedi.Go for it. But don't expect that path to be easy. And don't go mucking up and ruining space for the rest of us who don't want space to have anything to do with Jedi.

Unfortunately the whole grinding to be jedi is stupid and way off track for what the system is suppose to be. They need to have a symbiotic relation ship between players going on here. A bond so as it was and with none of this FS crap. Once you have a a high number of medioclorians which can be gained in different ways by everyone, what proffesions you must master, and badges u must get, but there is no holocron or nything to give u hints. Then once you have a high medioclorian count a jedi knight can accept you as his padawan. The whole description of how this could work in the game is long so i will not bore you.

Perhaps what they could do is allow for Prestige to be converted to Combat XP for all. Then if you want to use that XP for skills or for FS XP then go ahead. Prestige for Factions should get you more than just going in to deep space.Maybe new Piloting uniforms, buying certification for new ships. OR they could create another proffesion after pilot, Admiral. Where you can learn and use command ships. They would work as multiplayer ships. They can carry up to maybe 40 of your grouped friends or some extremely high number, your friends can launch there ships out of your docking bay to dogfight, or you can use the tracktor beam to pull in an enemy craft to your ddocking bay and then you will have some ground fighting going on in your command ship. So you would have to make sure you do not have horrible players before you pull in an enmey fighter. If you pull in a Tier 5 Black Sun Ace. His HAM would be about 30k or more, so the tier would determine the ham and skill level of NPC characters. But if you pull in a single player fighter the pilot is removed from his ship and is forced to play in the ship on ground. He cannot leave the ship till he/she or his group of a multiplayer ship shuts off the tracktor beam reactor, so they can make their get away. But determining on how many players the admiral has to his group depends on the defense you will see on board. If the Admiral has only a few friends on his ship ou may be able to take over or completely destroy the ship from the inside and or kill the Admiral. The Admiral proffesion would also give you skill that can be turned off and on. They would be space auras, which would increase a grouped player in a certain range of the capital ship either speed, manueverablity, armor, weapon power output, reactor regeaneration, etc.. But an Admiral cannot have more than one aura active at a time. So if you are going full out pvp It would probably be suggested to have more than one admiral in your group so you can either stack auras or recieve more than one aura at a time.
but boxes of Admiral would not be sooo easy to get they would cost about 5-7mil just for the first boxes. Then as high as 20 mil for the tier4 boxes.

just an idea

Dev's have stated FS has no affect on space. The VehicleControl line only works for ground vehicles.

Instead of some stupid grind there needs to be a long series of quests that require very large groups to complete. LIke the one I describe above (man was that fun). This way players need to group together and actually play the game to become Jedi instead of hiding out in the middle of nowhere by themselves punching dogs and rats for hours on end.

The problem with that is the power gamers will win in the end, they will figure out a way to solo through it in one day. And then they'll come here and post on "HOW 2 SOLO TEH JEDI MIUSSONS!!" then its another thing to AFK macro, and jedi becomesas easy to get as Master Scout. Grinds suck but its the only thing thats power gamer proof.

Look at it the master mission in JTL, the corvettes a frigging joke, its like killing an AFK dancer with a krated geno, everyones keen tothis basic startegy to destroy it. It blows up in under 3 minutes. And then everyone goes "Oh! Woot! CG! GJ guys that was awesome."

Matering Pilot just consists of findingsomesoft hearted acewith an MPS to master it for you, while hanging back out of range. It would be the same way if Jedi were quest based, they would figureout how to becomeJK's in hours, and then post onhow to become Jedi in one day,

then its:HelloJedi Academy but With RPG Ground Combat Instead of Twitch

First, power gamers are going to take advantage of ANY system. They will always find a way. There is no conceivable system that will keep someone who plays 20hrs/day from getting there faster.

Second, I'm not sure if you've ever done the mission that I described above but there is NO way to solo it. We had masters of almost every combat class and several doctors and people were dying left and right. It was awesome!

Third, I think you're missing the other part of my point. Jedi needs to be more accessible yes, but much much harder to play. Power gamers can play 20hrs/day but bring back perma-visibility and perma-death and I can garuantee you will see less of them...

I'll admit that the Corvette is a joke. Really, it's like 10x harder to actually FIND the Corvette than to blow it up. Pretty lame.

I solo'd my exit quest with just master rifleman and burst run food. When you say there is NO way to solo it, you should consider that some people prefer to use ranged weapons instead of rushing in trying to a melee a dark jedi with a 2,000 max damage lightsaber I still wonder why all high end NPC's still have no terrain negotiation.

And for those of you that gave the Force in Space BS and how it effected the outcome of the movie GCW. The force only helped with the death star there were plenty of times it didn't.

The force didn't help Darth Vader "DJK" to forsee Han Solo blowing up his wingman in the DS trench now did it.

The force didn't keep Luke from crashing on Dagohba.

The Force didn't help luke evade Vader shooting up R2 and for that matter it didn't look like vader bothered to tap into "the force " to do it.

The force didn't keep luke's butt from being blown out of the sky by an ATAT either.

Leave JTL alone for christ sake. It's bad enough that everything is geared around glow sticks as it is in this game.

Lots of responses here. Lots of good discussion and lots of flames, OT conversations etc.

Still, nobody has answered the question. What's the difference between grinding one hour in space versus one hour of TK versus one hour of Architect versus one hour of Squad Leader versus one hour of pistoleer? One hour of game play is one hour of game play...

Anyone?
