Thread: So is the JSF unbalanced, or is it just me?

If they dropped the JSF to 60k mass, there'd be one less A-Wing pilot on Lowca.

Don't get me wrong, I love my A. Just not in the creepy biblical sense like you-know-who.

The JSF needs to be under 20k mass with it's manuverability

It's a starter ship on steroids!!!

/pet

no one would fly it then... but thats what you want

I still maintain that its just to stupidly easy to get for what it is. And the Firespray is complete mirror the opposite imo

I remember when doing a mission with some mates in space would get people turning up in all kinds of wierd and wonderful setups. You'd end up with some right conversations about what the hell they were flying . Now everyone turns up in an Actis or Bell-22, and no-one says a word :/

/shrug. It'd be next to hilarious in my oppinion, but I'd still fly my A-wing.

It'd still be overpowered.

Just look at that bleedin 600/600/300 YPR! Nothing with over 12k mass comes close

I was discussing the Eta-2 with a coworker (and fellow pilot) yesterday at luch. We figured 45K mass would be about right—sure, it's still pretty maneuverable for that mass, but at least it's a lot more in keeping with the size of the thing. Of course, then I couldn't fit my 13.0 speed droid interface into it hehe (yes, I used the extra weight for a faster DI—I'm pretty much exclusively a PvE pilot and no NPC fighter has been able to touch me in the thing, so it didn't seem worth it to put in bigger guns or missiles, or even a new engine…figured I'd just save myself time at the start of each sortie when throwing up the droid commands hehehe)

I am glad all the reb pilots wouild drop their a-wings for JSF if the weight was lowered 20k. TO BAD IT IS SAPPOSE TO BE AN IMP SHIP.

If they fixed the awesome-ness. They can stop letting everyone fly it and only allow IMPs fly it like any other faction ships. Then LOTS of Reb pilots would not be flying the JSF ( as are many now)

I am wondering, why would these pilots give up their A-wing?

This seems like a reasonably well qualified source of information. The Eta-2 Actis interceptor is a KSE product, originally used by the Galactic Republic as a fighter complement for Venator-class Star Destroyers. So, what does it mean that it's sappose to be an imp ship? Do you get to that conclusion by dint of the fact that the republic became the empire and so took de facto control of all republic hardware? I could buy that, I suppose, but it's a very simplistic point of view. Lord of War is a real education about what happens to military hardware in a time of political upheaval. I think it's entirely realistic that some of those ships would have slipped through the fingers of the iron fist.

Or are you just leaning on the fact that one has to be imperial on the ground to acquire the ships in terms of pure game mechanics?

For the same reason that some imps would give up their Tie-Interceptors for the RGI if the hitbox were fixed. I'd have another gun and better maneuverability to play with. And at the risk of alienating Leaph forever, I like the look of the JSF a little better than the A.

My wingman got mad at some loadcampers in DS last night in Actises, so he went back to the RO and grabbed his. After he was done, he deeded it again and told me just how ridiculously overpowered it is. Before, he knew it because I had explained it to him (and pretty much anyone who would listen ), but now he understands it. I've pushed almost all the pilots I know out of the relic ships, and he's been flying a variety of the old JtL craft--X-wing, A-wing, Firespray, logging the most hours in a PvP A-wing. When he swapped from his A-wing to his Actis last night, he was amazed at just how agile and powerful those Actises are.

Overpowered. Definitely.

I tend to fly my Vaksai or JSF now in most cases, because I like the agility, and the look (except they picked the wrong chasis to base the Vaksai on, but that's a different story, and yes the JSF fits my Jedi character 90k mass or not). If I need a heavier gunship, I either fly my Rhixkadsalfhas, or switch toons and use my Heavy Xwing (which ROCKS). There is no doubt that the JSF rules in most cases.

BUT, I would fly my ARC exclusively if they moved the weapon placements closer in on the wings, or added another set of forward facingweapons (like the Xwing) closer in to the hull... I love that damn ship, but it just doesn't perform like I want it to when it comes to weapons

Heavy starters have the same maneuvering stats as the basic starters. I outperform my A-Wing with the same engine mounted in the Heavy Z-95.
