the JSF/Bel-22 are unbalanced, but not overpowered (least that's my view).
Explain, my dear Higglepoop.
I r intruiged.
Well they're unbalanced because of the mass/hitbox/gunpoint issue, but that still doesn't mean a JSF can't be owned by a decent pilot in any original ship. If they were overpowered they'd simply dominate everything, which, they don't.
Bah, I was expecting some mind-expanding argument that would make me go 'Aaah!'
Instead it's a technicality thing
Oh and Higgypoos, i've been experimenting with a level 10 engine in an A-wing. It's madness, i'm going to have to start REing level 5 guns and other such crazy things

Instead it's a technicality thing. At least we both agree they're unbalanced, although the 'overpowered' part is just wording really

If only I were so artistically gifted, I too would have an awesome A-wing tag.

There are missions I could have never taken before, that I can fly now, and not blink. Is it just experience, or is the ship that good? I don't know. I mean, I am flying Kessel against tier 5's and solo them like they were level one's.Really, I am not trying to brag, but I was wondering how many others have found this to be true. Is the ship a major contributor in how well you do?
For an Imperial pilot, 90k of mass on such a small frame is like heaven. For Privateers, 90k is 5k off the Dunelizard. For Rebels, 90k is 10k less than the first rendition of the X-Wing.
So for Imperial pilots, those who made their grinds back when 63-66k was the best we could hope for in a tactical fighter chassis, 90k and the JSF's profile enhances our lethality and survivability many-fold.

I've been flying my bub, and it's about the same. Sure, it makes a big difference. Even 5's aren't very accurate, and when you're trying to hit something as big as your thumbnail, you need to be god at shooting. Welcome to the world of the ROTW ships. I wouldn't stop flying your ship, though. If it's good, why fly something that's slow and a huge target. BTW, check out my post pleeeeeez, because it states exactly how we can make the pilot prof rely more on skill without nerfing anything.

Welcome to the world of the ROTW ships Been there, didnt like it, went back to flying without having my hand held and my arse wiped for me. I wouldn't stop flying your ship, though. If it's good, why fly something that's slow and a huge target Umm, perhaps because 1. youll be a better pilot, 2. Its fun to have a more challenging game and 3. its better not to have pilots sniggering behind your back at you cause you have to use a nubship to do anything. BTW, check out my post pleeeeeez, because it states exactly how we can make the pilot prof rely more on skill without nerfing anything It states exactly how would be a good way to destroy the pilot profession.
The fact that you think BALANCING something is akin to NERFing it shows you havent a clue about ships or piloting.

What makes ROTW shipsunbalanced for me is that the gross mass of the new ships are not reflected in the size of the ships! I think this is why old timers like melament about the old days when I small ship had a smaller mass than the big ships. The big ships had big guns and shields, but reduced manuverability. The small ships had to settle with lesser weapons and shield, but had a better chance of getting inside the turning circle of the big guys. A little bit of science there in science fiction.
Then comes along the little JSF with it's oodles of mass for it's size which threw that whole balance to whack!
What I think would have been cool is to have tied the mass of the ship to the overall performance (turning and acceleration specifically). You would have to really consider then if the extra firepower is worth the sacrifice of performance, etc. That would really enrich the space game by allowing people to really tweek the fighers to thier fighting style.
But I digress... Star Wars is, afterall, considered Science FANTASY so to hell with real life physics!
BTW, I can't deny that the JSF is a fun little ship to fly because of the performance you can squeeze out of it, and I do take it up a lot for mindless destruction of things. But I find myself flying the old schools ships more for the challange and the fact that I always liked the X-wing and TIE Advance for the sheer coolness of flying them.

I'd put the Bel more in the category of the Rhix than the Y-Wing. Not that it usually matters much to me, as I fly in third person view. Too disturbing to me to look down and NOT see myself in the seat.

Yay! Another pilot who flies with the cockpit on!
KajaGrae wrote:Im playin with the oldies but goldies atm. Working on a TIE Advanced right now..... Im more adapted to the heavy fighters for sure lol!! I miss my Bwing.... Im so used to flying them, I dont think ill ever get used to the hypermanuverbale ones... I absolutely hate the bellubab... the cockpit view is terrible (I like cockpit view
leave me alone), and it darting around everywhere was killing me... I do like the TIE bomber though. nice cockpit view....
That was one reason I only flew the Belbullab once before parking it. At least the Actis had decent visibility--the Belbullab has to be as bad as the Y-wing.
I used to fly with cockpit on, then I got my B-22. Good lord. I wantd to try and lean over my stick and press my face up against the canopy! I do, however, take solace in the fact that I'm not the only one who looked down in the cockpit and went "oh god, where are my legs?!" Hehehe. My shipwright/wingman claims that I'm suffering from space madness.

the ship shouldn't matter.
ETA2 or tie advanced, you could pilot both with virtualy the same loadout but you would feel more confident in the ETA2 cos it looks sexy.

Now I may not go to DS/Kessel every day but still... Every Rebel pilot I've come across in DS or Kessel has been in an ETA-2. Even came across a Rebel Freelance pilot in one who used epulse3
I wonder how many people would drop this ship if it's mass was changed to 60k? But I doubt it'll ever changed the ship is too loved - hell I love it loads and don't want it to change.
Oh and the person wanting to stick 2 level 10 guns in theirs.... you're not quite grasping the concept here.
Also space PvE and PvP is vastly different.
Getting the ETA-2 should have been made in the same way as getting a Firespray. S***, my CL1 crafter managed to get his paws on his ETA2 deed with a little help from a m8.
And while I've got the mic: I want an Imperial ship with 3 weapon ports
