Very well thought out. I like the idea, the story line behind it, and the thought. Guess that means I'd have to give up my crafting classes and go back into combat. That or be the pilot and sit there and wait for all the other guys to finish the misison. But an excellent idea none the less.
Not really, you could always be an "observer"and get buffed and still go along, just not do any combat. but that is a good point the FOB ship pilot part does leave non-combat master pilots out of it.
Any ideas to help add them in?????
More then willing to update it
Well, could come up with an item etc that would require various crafters to attend to craft similar to the DWB in concept but not nearly as difficult so that the crafting team would have to work together to get the items made and have a couple fighter's attend as well for basic defense against moderate level NPC's.
There could be a straight combat assault mission and a alternative crafting one that would not need to lean on heavy templeted escorts so that the one combat/one crafter prof people could attend and survive or for pure crafters take a minimal escort of a couple combatants. Just add two different variations and make it fun, not time based, not take 5-10 mins to kill a SBD just firing away while grabbing a drink from the fridge so that people could explore and do various tasks in diff rooms. I am a straight combat player, but would have a blast taking one of my crafting friends up with a few other friends to do something DWB style minus the stupidity of firing on the same NPC for 5mins just to move 2 meters to start on the next one. The item would need to be balanced for the difficulty, but there really needs to be more mid-level content for those that just don't wanna have to power through something.
Don't get me wrong I like going after elders/krayt for loot and what not, but there is a good number in the playerbase that cannot take part in this unless they have an alternate to their crafting account. JtL gives them an ability to compete and have somewhere to fight without needing to have a full combat template, so why not use this option to allow some mid-level combat content so that the crafters don't have to endure really really rough assaults from NPC's.... heck let em use their CDEF's just to get some shots off etc but still would need to have some form of combat team in order to do the bulk.
One last option would be for there to be a master mission that would not involve needing a combat team. Have the assault team disable the craft, and upon blowing the reactor the ship is diabled. Upon boarding they discover that the ship was actually abandoned and when the reactor was blown, it deactivated many systems... they must then find ways utilizing a smuggler to slice doors, a commando to set charges on some that are unslicable, a DE to repair a droid interface to gain information on the next room, a BE/Doc/CM to examine data on some terminal (Secret Research Data inclusion?).... well you get the point.
Have a non-combat abandoned freighter/vette that was on a auto-pilot patrol that when disabled lost its primary automated selfdefense. Make it include various classes similar to a Base destruction in order to promote a group effort and have little risk barring traps and explosions if things are done wrong.

Master Content major: Boarding a corvette: From another post of mine...
"We have discovered that the Empire/Rebels have taken some of our most important code cyphers and are transporting them on a Corellian Corvette inkessel to deliver to the Star Destroyer/Rebel Space Station. We need you disable the Corvette, board it, and recover the information."
- You would need a full load of players in space with the FOB ship (YT/Decimator/Nova) plus the escort fighters. When inkessel you get a mission waypoint to the Corvette. Once at the target location, you must eliminate the fighter escort then disable the corvette, just like in the master missions. Once the vette is disabled the FOB ship docks with the disabled vette.
"Once you have boarded the ship you must verify the information is located on the vessel then destroy it. We understand that there will be heavily armed resistance onboard the ship, I recomend you take a full combat crew on this mission. Knowing the practices of the Empire/Rebels I am sure once the vette is disabled they will send a full fighter escort to destroy the craft once you board it, so stay on your toes."
- Once docked with the Corvette, the FOB ship will have access to the craft thru the docking hatch (would need to be added, say a useless dorway that is changes to a ladder like the exsisting turret access). This would drop the combatants into the Corvette the same way as you would for the old "Ground Corvette" missions but with a different entrance room. Once onboard the boarding party from the FOB ship must battle to gain access to the Captains quarters and verify that this is the correct ship carrying the stolen information. Access to this room wouldby by aNovice Artisan (Engineering 4??). Using slight variations of the Destroy and Assasination missions for the old "ground vette". Now no SBDs, lets make it hard but we need to keep the time down a bit on this part. To keep the escort fighters busy there would be waves of enemy fighters who jump in to stop the mission that would need to be eliminated. Once the information is verified, the boarding party scuttles the ship and return to the FOB ship. The FOB ship used to board the Corvette would remain docked for the duration of the onboard opperation and would be the cloning location for any of the players that die onboard the corvette where they could be healed and rebuffed and sent back into battle.
"Then you must bring the information back to me, safely, I will be in space on a transport ship awayting your delivery. We are counting on you to succeed in this mission. Long live the Rebuplic/Empire"
- Once the mission holder (the master pilot of FOB ship?) has verified the inforamation (say a data disk is given by the computer) then the full crew must battle its way back safely to a wp in a different system and dock to deliver it. Now if the mission holder dies while piloting (not onboard the vette) the mission fails.
Reward: Mission badge!!
So all I am thinking, with a few small additions, isadding the old ground vette interior with a spawned space vette to make make IMHO one heck of a fun andhard mission.
/aggree with that one! Personally, I would like to see a mission builder or other sort of group sensative mission system.
Say for example, you have 5 mates in a group, all in space and talk to a space station. At that point, the space station says "We have X missions for you" which are generated for you in a number of general categories like rescue, assault, recon etc. The missions would then be group sensative and scale to the number & experaince of your team.
Each mission would then have an objective list and / or a requirement list. The objective list would simply be a list of points that you would have to meet before the mission is complete. The requirements list could be say for example, you need a MP ship so you can take on board X number of NPC's.
The way that you handle the boarding party is up to you, so you could have more fighter escort and have few people boarding, or vice versa, depending on how you want to play it (or how the mission states the resistance would be like).
The next step for that would be a mission builder that you enter your requirements into the mission 'search' function, and it returns a list of missions that meet your criteria, and that criteria could be different mission elements / objectives that need to be completed.

Yes, Pilot is my primary proffession, because it is the most enjoyable for me, I'm better at it then ground game, and I can make more money. If I grind ground skills to get FS points, it takes away from my fun in space. It is only fair that pilots be included in the trade in with allthe other professions. Also, I think the FS/Reflexes/vehicle control branchshould apply to pilots too. A FS pilot should be able to get greater speed and manuverablity out of a ship just like with the speeders.

My reason for wanting the trade in is this: The Star Wars saga is full of tales of force-sensitives and jedi that are excellent pilots. I'm fervently against any special space skills for jedi characters, but I do think that the relationship between good piloting skills and force-sensitivity should be re-inforced somehow. A ratio of 1000:1 would do that, without making pilot the new best grind for FS XP.
ajag wrote:I don't agree at all with Converting Prestige points into FS points.Reasons:1.- Will bring everyone and their mothers to space. Soon enough it would be so crowded you will not get a shot at anything.2.- You will bring the whinners along. People Will start calling for nerfs on everything because all they would care about would be just grind exp as fast and convenient for them as possible.3.- As soon as this topic was brought up, you can already see how tey want special advantages and benefits.4.- Bring Jedi into JTL and soon it will become as crap as the ground game. Remember it was holo/Jedi grinding what made the ground game as senseless as it is today.5.- Jedi will start to cry because they are Jedi and Master pilots should not be able to kill them so there we go, nerf the rest of the people so Jedi can own the space aswell.6.- I don't want jedi whinning all over this board aswell.7.- I am sure there are more reasons, but I am on a deadline at workRegards,
space is way too empty. i would like for "everyone and their mothers" to come to space. more people in space might mean more interesting pvp in deep space.
i agree with your other points though.

How about using prestige points like FPs, in that you can buy things with them?
Support ships (Like faction pets)
Special ship designs (patterns, colors, symbols, etc)
Buy a cert to fly another faction's ship
Buy access to different space sectors
Buy new skills (specials)
Buy new droid programs
Uniforms
Furniture (especially MP ship related)
Special Schematics (especially requiring fewer resources, or high in mass or HP)
Ship-type "powerups" (act like a droid program but stack with them and last only for one flight - i.e. +10% reactor powerup, etc.)
