OK Question:
If there was some other use for Pretige, would those who said "Yes" still care about FS conversion? I.E. new ships, clothing, etc? (all schematics to made my masters fwiw)
So if we had "some use" for it, would you care about FS stuff???

lol, another good point, if I had something else to spend it on, FS conversion wouldn't even be an issue. Id much rather they implement new content (items, schematics, clothes) to spend this on than give a poor FS conversion rate

I also vote no for FS xp, for the same reasons stated.
More importantly, though, I think that we need to look at the root of why people are leaving space after they master. I am a master pilot, and I was trying to convince someone in my guild today to start working on their piloting skills so they could get up to master. They said "why, what will that do for me?" Aside from being able to be a better pilot, I couldn't think of anything. PvP is pointless, there's no reward at all for getting a pvp kill, aside from the satisfaction of knowing they have to pay a repair bill and take some decay on their components/ship etc. PvP is basically just greifing, as the winner gets nothing out of it. Furthermore, space has no tie in to the GCW. The question is, why be in space at all?
I think trading in prestige points for shields, guns, etc would be good, but I think after people have gotten their improved guns, bigger shields, or even gotten their hands on some new ships, we're stillback to square one after a few days/weeks.
I think that adding new sectors wouldn't help anything. Deep space is empty, and the other ones will be too shortly after they're released.
The fact remains, jump to lightspeed needs to tie into the ground game somehow (beyond just getting Faction points). I think the ideas regarding boarding missions are excellent. If the missions are fun, and most importantly, rewarding (perhaps paying very well, or giving new rare loot and schematics, or new building materials etc) then having good pilots will become a necessity. The waves of fighters need to be intense, and taking out the corvette's defenses will need to be real tough. This will give incentive to the master pilots to aquire the best parts, and they will have something to do with them because the ground combat people will want to do the boarding missions because they give good loot etc. Having good pilots around would be a necessity then. As for the Master pilot stuck on the docked MP ship, he can still man a turret while the ship is docked and help fend off the fighters.
I don't think, however, that you should be required to bring along artisans or droid engineers etc to open doors and disable things on the boardable ships. You don't need an artisan to kill a krayt, or raid a faction base, etc etc, why should you need one for this. We don't need to be adding combat content for artisans. If artisans want to see combat, then pick up a combat profession.
The boardable ships should come in different levels of difficulty. They should all require a master pilot, but there should be easier and harder ones, the harder ones requiring more and stronger people to do. Perhaps the pilots have to use Prestige points to get these missions in the first place. This would again give pilots more reason to be in space, and more reason to seek prestige.
PvP should have some benefits for the guy who wins the fight. Maybe a decent chunk of Faction points, or maybe something new like "Elite" Faction points, which you can use to redeem really cool ace clothing, or ship mods etc and you get only through PvP kills.
Overall, i think the most important thing to remember here is that new additions of blasters, sheilds, armor, or maybe a few new ships isn't going to keep people interested in space in the long run. The only real way to do this is to have it tie into the ground game somehow. I believe that having boarding missions will do this. Even if they require many pilots and people to do them, as long as the rewards for the missions are significant and worthwhile, then it will breathe new life into space, and give people need and reason to invest time into their piloting.

Yes, Pilot is my primary proffession, because it is the most enjoyable for me, I'm better at it then ground game, and I can make more money. If I grind ground skills to get FS points, it takes away from my fun in space. It is only fair that pilots be included in the trade in with allthe other professions. Also, I think the FS/Reflexes/vehicle control branchshould apply to pilots too. A FS pilot should be able to get greater speed and manuverablity out of a ship just like with the speeders.

Not only no, but hell no. Some of us don't want to be jedi. Some of us don't even want to be stalked by an old guy. Leave jedi to ruin the ground game, don't let them ruin space too.

if they do get small advatages for piloting then they better be perma overt when they fly and lose xp when i blow em away.

1. xp vs. gated missions. You should be able to choose your route tomaster pilot. Up the xp requirement to 15 million and offer a choice: vette or xp vendetta.
2. Boarding the corvette I like this idea. But wouldn't it be nice if you could take control of the ship and use it against the star destroyer?
Likewise, pilots could disable a freighter, get on board and have to wipe out the crew themselves (to integrate their skills with the ground game). The pilot might then be responsible for taking the slow freighter back through another star system (hopefully a tough one) while a "co pilot" returns his ship to his last docking point. Seems like you would need some real skill tosurvive even tier 3 fighters in a sluggish tier 5 freighter.
3. I would love to see a race (similar to the ground game race) inside a large asteroid. This is one of my favorite parts of Empire Strikes Back. It would be great to fly through an asteroid field and then try to get the best time. Not sure what to do with the variance of engine speed.

well there would only be a heavy npc presence around the station, and they can make those ships attack or be attackable only by overt players, that way you dont end up with a ton of coverts beating down the defenses without having to worry about enemy players.
i want this to happen over the buildable planets because that way it matters. if it doesnt make a noticable difference in the ground game, no one will come play and we will be right back where we started. right now everyone gets to master and them doesnt play jtl anymore. space is dead. we need to give people a reason to suit up and go declare.

I dont believe the point was making FS something that occurs in space (i.e. "glowships" 'loved that one', or any sort of FS abilities) that will increase our abilities to fly etc, but the ability to trade in pilot prestige for force-sensitive xp. This would be fine, assuming that the trade in ratio is very high, probably several 1000 to 1 as it is very easy to get in deep space killing escort ships and gunboats. This would give Jedi hopefuls an opportunity to at least dump this mostly useless prestige xp into something useful. Deep space is the only thing that costs prestige, and the entry fee of 30k can be reobtained in one kill
I could see a much better solution, as was mentioned above, as creating space items/components/new ships, that cost large amounts (millions)of prestige to obtain, (I've been ace for 1 day and I already have almost 2 million, so Id imagine a lot of people have a great deal more). Seems a simple thing to implement as all they have to do is create a npc that dispenses the items on the same principle as FS trade-in, take xp, give something back. Doesnt seem difficult implementation and would give incentive to pilots to stay in space instead of mastering then going back to the ground game, which is the case with almost all pilots on my server, theres almost no one in space except me and one or two other folks. I had deep space all to myself for four hours yesterday before 1 other person showed up! We need a reason to stay in space otherwise JtL is just a diversion, then back to the ground we go.
Insofar as game sweeping changes, I'd like to see many more capital ships in the game. As it stands now, the Corvette and Star Destroyer are the only ones that exist in the game, but there are so many more options, Super Star Destroyers (could be an excellent rebel mission) all the different battleships crafted by the Mon Calamari, other members of the ragtag Rebel fleet besides the Corvette, and more attackable space stations! Creating these ships would add a great deal of content possibilities for high level quests etc. Also ship interiors perhaps? Boarding a disabled ship and fighting the NPC's inside like the ground game would be wonderful immersion and exciting content I think (this idea has been mentioned elsewhere, but since this is focus thread Im bringing it here ). We already have the interior map for the Corvette, wouldnt be terribly difficult to create interiors for other ships like decimators, gunboats etc, but I dont know how easy this would actually be to implement.
An aside to the capital ship idea, it seems that all content in JtL is soloable by a single pilot at this time, even the Star Destroyer in Deep Space can be destroyed solo with enough patience and skill. Changes need to be made in this regard, either by increasing damage, reducing the # of blind spots that turreted ships have (this includes MP ships too but thats a separate issue) or possibly having capital ships, such as Corvettes, spawn in groups. As it is now, Imperials have almost no challenge soloing these due to bomberstrike, but if Corvettes spawned in groups of 3 for example, all within firing range of one another, then it would be a much more difficult proposition to defeat them.
