Thread: PvP Etiquitte?

Thoughfighting a tier1 or 2 personwould have to be a boring fight, they should probably not go overt until they fell like other people have the right to attack them. It sounds like this person was upset with you and that is hogwash. They are taking a risk by trying to earn faction during their pilot grind. I am all for giving people a chance to defend themselves, but in the end I dont care for the idea of making distinctions between overt targets. In my opinion, if someone declares they should be aware that (even if they are just farming) they are a PVP target.

I like showboating with the Star Destroyer. Much more amusing.

Nice to see that a lot of bria players have etiquitte. i have to agree with my rebel counterparts about the code of etiquitte in space pvp. No load killing. no bragging. and no flaming, even if its about another persons profession. U dont like /epulse3, deal with it, get the profession, i dont care what u do. Shoot a missle at me or surprise me when im farming for loot, dont shooot hate/complaining tells to me. some ppl act like they did against commandos in a duel, "lets duel but u cant use flame. Ok but u cant use kd/dizzy". or the same with cm's........dont bash the profession, learn a way around it. BTW leaph is a pretty dam good fighter in his little a-wing, hard to get him even in my JSF.

Everyone of my targeting buttons do whatever they are originaly supposed to do then tries to target the closest enemy player. So if you are in range of me you are the only target on my screen. I am either going to attack you ar try to run from you (mostly I'll attack, why not it's only a game). If your just sitting there or being obliviouse to my pressence then consider your destruction as a lesson learned.

Actually, a lot of battles especially against asimilarly skilled pilot can last for as long as ten minutes.

At that point, if its me on the recieving end i'll send a tell, "about time!" and be glad its over. Drawn out fights get old.

Seriously. Stale adrenaline tastes gross.

My personal "rules" have pretty much all been covered here.. try not to load kill, don't target engines outside Deep Space, don't talk trash. I wouldn't epulse if I had it, either.

Everything else is pretty much up for grabs for me. I'd even kill tier 1 pilots if they were overt. No free faction farming on my watch.

7.) Try to avoid targetting engines

8.) Don't use epulse

This really does not apply to most of the thread Kitten. Seems like most people just PvP in DS, which has to be one of the most boring zones to PvP in.

I think ever since i posted the stratigic value of shooting at someones engine kitten hasnt liked me much. And yes, long term it has strategic value in a war scenario.

That said, the 3-4 week break i took has mellowed me out some. JTL PVP will never be "like planetside, only in space" .. you know.. a real "virtual" war like i wish it was. If i got vapped 30 times in an hour, and made 30 kills in the same hour, i all that fun.

JTL PvP intrest will NEVER reach that level, and the pilot community is too small. I view PvP thesedays more as a compedtiave sport, and not a "Galactic Civl War" like i used to. Silly me i know. There is no war, just a group of ppl on an adrenaline kick. I hope no one EVER makes things personal with me, because i can be a very vindictive SOB, and id rather not be that way.

Well, it was like I said in my post. If you win the war...what fun is it. And in Planetside, there is no equipment degradation. Not to mention, all targeting engines does is water down your foe, and decrease the fun factor.

Personally, I love it when the foe gets better, like shooting down the reb JSF's in my RG Int...vanquished foes, in better equipment...love it...

>>in Planetside, there is no equipment degradation. Not to mention, all targeting engines does is water down your foe, and decrease the fun factor.

It falls into a phrase you can classify as "asset denial". In planetside many tactics have value, including spawn camping or blowing base gens. No, its not the most honorable thing, but there is no honor in war. Real or virtual. Thats me though if its a war scenario, i fight like i would in RL. I do my part to acheive victory for my team by any means neccessary at my disposal.

Long term, if you had a pilot who was a royal PITA, you can minize the threat he presents or at least keep him out of action longer by doing things such as disabeling and leaving him drift, or shooting out his engine. Your miminizing the utlization of that asset (the pilot) to the enemy.

But like i said, there is no war. Just a friendly sporting match. If there was "real" virtual war, you can bet i wont fight with one hand tied behind my back, and you can bet ill be playing for keeps. Im saving that degree of tenacity for another game, JTL isn't it.

Agree, JTL is not the place for those tactics. Not saying they may not be valid in some games, but at this point, not JTL.

On the load killing thing, I do not, ever, for anything. I have this reasoning: If a person, launches, runs overloads, declares, and hits sector blah, or even longer goes to DS...getting killed on load is the fastest way to discourace people from fighting.

Yeah, it is a war, but if you win this war, and no one goes up anymore...what is the point?

Well...it'll sure be fun to see how things go once/if/when JTLS recieves GCW type of gameplay....

If it starts becoming 'hey lets spawn kill to win like those idiots do on the ground' then screw it...I'm outa here. I don't care what the scenario is...loadkillers are scum. I mean...I do just fine in space NOT loadkilling and there are pilots better than I so why should anyone do it?

I think too many people miss the point of a game and no offence Dum..I love ya, but its a GAME, therefore being about fun...you don't have to just play to win. I mean..I guess if thats your thing then fine, I mean I'm not being self righteous here...if I get killed in pvp..which isn't often but still, I -really- have to bite back and take a few deep breaths. But the point is...since it is a game, there is much more room and leniancy towards not being completely ruthless when playing. Hell this lately due to the amount of Imps I pvp'ed against who seem to be using crafted engines...well I been letting them take the first 10 shots at me before wasting them.

I mean ok..thats an over exageration but for example last night. I was in my a-wing dueling some guy in a Grievous. I hit them twice and just about cleared their shield.....then they must have shunted then scored a hit on me which crippled me..then another to finish. Now this was a little more than annoying...I'd hit the guy in a ship which is considered half as good as his and not only that but I'd scored as many hits as he did..but before him so 'technically' I 'should' have won but didn't etc because my single gun is useless against a ship which is uber manouverable and has room still for a meaty shield.

I could have replied back to him "Ahh you suck, I won that really" but no...I was nice [as always of course ] and despite the slightly dented pride, hell..it was a good fight and from losing I now know I have to rethink myself on how to improve my game etc....Actually it wasn't the fact that they'd won...its more the fact that now I have experienced the full unbalanced effects of these new ships first hand so to anyone who complains about them..I understand totally but meh....where there is a will, there is a way and I'll stll be taking my A-wing up to fight against new ships etc in order to try and learn and adapt from my failing.

To finish off...yeh as usual you get a bunch of mixed feelings from me on the subject, so take it as you will. I got an open mind and am always willing to change my own oppinion if someone provides a valid argument.
