I don't loadkill, its boring.
I go up there to have fun, and shooting an enemy that can't even defent itself is no fun. Sure I get a kill, but I don't need that for my ego.
I wouldn't use epulse for the same reasons if I had it (I pvp with my imperial pilot), it just oneshot-kills every PVP target in 300m range or so (never really tested it). As Ducimus said, thats basicly a sporting match, of who's the better pilot.
For missiles I at least have to manage to get a lock on the ship and it can be countered with chaffs. Theres nothing like that for Epulse, again its "killing someone who has no chance to react".
Outside of DS I don't target Engines, in DS I don't care that much. Since as was already said, if you "win" and the enemy isn't there anymore, its no fun for me either. And killing someones REd engine outside of DS will make them frustrated and eventually drive them away from space pvp.

I went to DS to kill the ISD a few times and when I finally loaded, I hit my target button and low and behold 300m away was an imp in a JSF. I reacted quickly made a few left/right moves and tapped my booster whippped around and blasted him in 1 or 2 shots. His shield must not have been very strong, my blaster was a reward RE and an nice lvl6 RE, flying in my Bellabub. I send a tell "camper" before finishing him off (his reactor was toast). He said "I wasn't camping, I broke a dogfight and boosted over, welcome to ignore". Anyway, if I finish loading slow, it's not my fault and if he is 300m away when I get there he's camping in my opinion. While killing the ISD a few times another guy in a JSF shows up and we have a little battle, I dont think he hit me once, finished him off and I sent "nice fight", but got no response. Oh well.

tbh, the main reasons of myself dying in DS is when fighting a vette or sometthing and someone blasts me without warning.
If i see a rebel ship in DS i always give them a tell so they know im near first.

I often worry about etiquette. I have used epulse, but I make a point to only use it when I am flying solo and a group of imps start closing on me. When I am in a spiral and there are two ships within 100m and I am on my own its hard to resist, lol. If the person I am against takes hits then flies back to hide on the ISD for cover I'll consider using epulse too on their return.
I think the biggest thing when it comes to ettiquette is that we are PvPing for the fight, not for the kill, and things like load killing for the sake of getting a cheap kill is just pointless.
I try to be somewhat aware of the other players, if someone is not in a good PvP ship and appears to be grinding faction points, I'd /t him to see if he's up for a fight, because even though anything goes for overt pilots, there is no need to be the cause of someone's bad day.
Granted, regardless of what someone flies, if they are not engaged in FP grinding and are anywhere near closing on me I'll engage them pretty quick.
So I'd say:
1) go for the best fight, not the cheapest kill (including load kills)
1) go for the best fight, not the cheapest kill (including load kills)
2) if you taunt, do so in a friendly way (I'll give someone a tell when they come at me to kill me then run to hide in their faction's NPCs upon taking damage, but just something nice like 'gonna hide all day?')
3) you aren't fighting Evil Imps/Rebs Dogs, just players and often kids, don't hate tell
4) don't expect any breaks from anyone, anywhere while overt. If you are landingon Tat, just because you wouldn't hit someone at the station doesn't mean someone won't hit you.... if 'z' ever targets anything don't sit like a duck.

I think ever since i posted the stratigic value of shooting at someones engine kitten hasnt liked me much. And yes, long term it has strategic value in a war scenario.
That said, the 3-4 week break i took has mellowed me out some. JTL PVP will never be "like planetside, only in space" .. you know.. a real "virtual" war like i wish it was. If i got vapped 30 times in an hour, and made 30 kills in the same hour, i all that fun.
JTL PvP intrest will NEVER reach that level, and the pilot community is too small. I view PvP thesedays more as a compedtiave sport, and not a "Galactic Civl War" like i used to.
I know this is somethign of a necro bump, but i just found something that i thought id share. See, ever since i posted some of what i would consider of tactical use in PvP, i think ive been under criticism ever since. I think its simply because people don't have an idea on the background upon which i draw some of my conclusions. So with the above quote, id like to share this 102 MB video.
If you want to see what a real MMO virtual online war, i present to you a video named, Terran Conquest. Its made by an affiliated guild to my own on planetside. Featuring, some of the people i used to game with. If you look closely you'll see concepts borrowed by sony where the base meta game is concerned, and you'll see things that are totally viable there, but hated here, such as spawn camping. But in PS, its done to for tactical reasons, or just long enough until the spawn tubes are destroyed.
Anyway, its an awesome movie to watch. 102 mbs, enjoy:

It gets better. Went overt this morning for the first time in weeks. (took a break from the game). Flew by a nebula clowd and the quietness was suddnely broken by the lightinng they make. I about jumped out of my chair and yanked the joystick all over the place.

Now see, if you lived in Florida where we have daily lighting strikes...you wouldn't have even noticed them.

There are no rules, only curtsey. I like to give my opponents/victims a little warning to make it an interesting fight. I usually hit my F1 key to give them a "heads up":
