On gorath, we have a real trend goin that is starting to irratate just slightly, and perhaps u wanna add this in. ( btw I agree on most everything the orig poster has) Seems with all the new guys from ROTW etc, people seem to think it's their right to come up and destroy the ISD without being bothered. I've even had an entire guild plan a guild event to take it down, and no fighter escorts to deal with the pvp... That was fun stuff lol. I truly know how some Bh's feel when they get the hate tells from hunting paddys lol.

You're a moron. I help pilots on Bria for free. I'm not prejudiced, I'm just annoyed at the state of some poeple's maturity on this game. There was one occassion were I asked for somthing in return of helping some guy on a mission but is that too much to ask? A freelancer can't even -fly- the Advanced X-wing so it'd be a waste them having it. Can I also remind you that everyone here is paying the same fee per month for playign this game and helping other pilots is somthing that you don't always want to do.

Heh. I'm not prejudiced towards Rebel Alligned neutral pilots either. I got plenty of friends in my PA and outside of my PA who're Rebel/neutral. Damn man....50% of the people on my friends list are Imperial.

You are spectacularly missing the point of this thread as I'd exepect someone as retardedly narrow minded as you to do which is NEW PILOTS WITH BAD ATTITUDES WHO AT THE MOMENT APPEAR TO BE FLYING JSF.

I'm merely voicing an oppinion. Its what a hell of a lot of other people do. I mean sheesh..this is the PILOTS forums and thats the point of it. Why should I or anyone else for that matter put up with griefers in game when you yourself play fairly? Answer me that Gassygunslinger. Go on..rip into me further and try and find a valid arguement. Calm down Leaph. I am more than happy to vouch for your integrity and character. And NO, we are not guildies. He's in a strictly pilot guild and I'm in a ground and space guild. I have never seen Leaph ask for anything in return for helping pilots reach master or level up the pilot tree. He's even agreed to help people who have requested help from me when I was already busy helping another pilot (I'm on the pilot helper list). Nor do I charge for helping people reach master, just as Mezzepa didn't charge when he helped me get master the first time around. In fact, I routinely return bank tips that are sent to me after solo'ing the vette for a new master. So, that should vouch for my character...since I'm posting to show my support for Leaph. As for PvP attitudes, I have only just started PvPing and have not run into any bad attitudes. Yeah, I've received a "complaint" about decay on a JSF outside of DS, but it was more of a groan than a flame. And I can vouch for an Awing being able to take a JSF, as those were my first two PvP kills. When I'm overt, I fly an Awing so I don't groan over decay. If I'm helping people, I fly the JSF because I feel it is the best ship for PvE. As for that Advanced Xwing, I can verify that Akyma received it as a gift from a guildie of her's, but I never knew who gave it to her until Leaph posted it. How do I know this? Because I RE the heck out of stuff for her. And from what I've seen, no one should ever doubt her ship or it's parts.

I won't rehash the PvP ettiquete thread, but people should read it.

As for Leaph's Awing, the stats of his ship are posted for all the world to see. It is one incredible Awing. And his entire ship is not entirely RE'd, as I've built some HQ low mass parts for him (shield, booster, armor, missile launcer, chaff launcher and capacitor). My ship has been molded after his, but mine is better in places and worse in places. If need be, I'll post my ships stats later. Point is, people need to learn that if they go overt in space that they are fair game. And more importantly, they need to understand the importance of RE'd parts (for engines and guns), droid programs and ship capabilities. I would probably still be dueling Quinlynn (a week later) if he had shield shunt, as it takes more than two hits for my Awing to kill someone...probably closer to 4 hits. His JSF would kill my shield every now and then and Shield Shunt would save me. Best of all, when it was over we had a friendly tell session for about ten minutes.

Its a game people, try to enjoy it. If you are worried about decay on your new reward ship, then don't fly it while overt and outisde of DS. Get a different ship to setup for PvP that is not your reward ship. That is my goal, as I presently have to pull half my JSF parts out to install in my Awing at the moment. But check the bria trade forums and you'll see exactly the type of stuff I still need to have two completely outfitted ships. Then, I will PvP even more. Remember, no one is invincible and skill can always beat technology. Never forget that an Awing "slides" in turns which allow it to shoot in front of the target...unlike the crisp handling JSF which requires the pilot to actually be headed toward the target. I can say that it is easier to hit a JSF in an Awing than it is in a JSF because of this "sliding" of the Awing during turns. Piloting requires skill, and PvP skills are completely different from PvE skills I have found out.

OK, I've rambled on enough when I should be working at the moment and not trolling.

As an aside, i hate to say this, but a long time ago i made one of those stupid posts i make when im really bored at work predicting some of the garabage a few folks have pointed out in this thread. Id try and find it and link it just to be a smart arse "i told you so" type of thing, but meh. whats the point.

I remember reading a quote from a World War 1 Article once, it went something like this:

Meh, if its in Deep Space, I don't even mind getting popped in my Nova. I've been out a couple times showing off the ISD to non-masters, even taking a few token runs at it to get it all fired up and shooting. Never fails to please. At least once, I made a run, then saw a couple purple shots streak by, then the boom. I just wish I knew who it was, just for curiousity's sake, we were still laughing our asses off inside over the noobie sightseer going bonkers at watching the lightshow.

Well put Thradd. As I'm on the Bria pilot helper list, I get tells every day asking me to help a noob grind out pilot by disabling everything in sight for them. As a result of not enough of me to go around, I've stopped helping with pilot grinds. I will now only help a pilot complete a tier reuired mission and the two kessel mission. Why in the world a pilot needs help at tier 1 and 2 is beyond me. My very first pilot grind was done solo until the very last tier 4 mission and then the kessel vette (Havoc Squadron). I'm not bragging, I'm just trying to point out that people need to develop their pilot skills better. Don't get me wrong, there were a few missions that took me more than once to complete. But by doing this, I learned new ways to fly and attack. Master Pilot is a title, but not an accurate measure of skill. During my second pilot grind, after stealing a JSF, I solo'd every mission with the exception of the first Tier 4 Vortex mission. The mission itself was probably solo'able until ROTW. But now the first mission point is next to a Tier 5 Droid Pirate spawn point for an asteroid. And in my opinion, the tier 5 droid ships are the hardest ship to attack in PvE...super quick, small hit box and nicely armed. Where can I get me one of those?


Hints for the noobs:

As for engines, the Nym's starmap reward engine is perfect for small fighters after it has been REd. I have mine installed in my JSF (YPR 74 w/ TS of 101 and mass of 22k), a purchased REd one in my Advanced Xwing, a third I bought that I am gathering parts for a good RE and I've agreed to purchase a 4th. This way, I won't care if my engine gets tagged outside of DS, because I will have plenty to replace it with in good time. Another tip, the level 7 reward shield from the same quest can be very nice for small fighters. I have a 17k level 7 RE'd in my JSF w/ 2k f/b and recharge of 14 (have yet to see a better level 7 shield on Bria). I have another Nyms shield RE'd to 1800 f/b, recharge of 15 and mass of 14k in my Awing. ..along w/ a third that was already REd. My Advanced X has the reward level 8 w/ a recharge of 16...and I still have two non-RE'd level 8 reward shields...one I actually bought over the weekend for $15k. Now THAT was a steal. Learn to search the bazaar. I had someone pay $8,888,888 for a nicely REd level 8 blaster that I had made. So not only can you make your own ship better, you can make alot of money off of HQ RE'd parts.

I've only been a pilot for four months now, but I think the main lessons that new pilots need to learn are 1) Be civil, 2) Learn about RE'd parts and which ones to RE, 3) develope piloting skills that involve more than just a nice ship and 4) have fun, and see defeat as a way to improve.

I'm sure others with more experience can add more.

One last thing, Leaph, please vent until you feel better and decide not to leave Bria.
