Thread: 'N00b pilots' who go overt read this..I'm serious [for once]
And most of the complaints coming from perturbed new-pilot PvPers is probably coming from getting fragged while trying to cap faction in DS or another sector...and then getting pissed that someone has the audacity to target and kill them in a free-fire zone, when all they're trying to do is cap their faction up to 120k in peace...
...first it was the TEFs, now it's gonna be this.
And being one of the "old guard," you can't blame me for being just a LITTLE bit pissed that a bunch of newbies are coming into my domain of expertise and DEMANDING idiotic crap like Combatant status in space, the perpetual dead-horse of FS XP conversion again, and just because PvP isn't fun to a few Naritus players, they call for Tomo's removal. And I do so love the ones who ask questions on here that are covered in-depth in the numerous FAQs above, and then get snippy when we point them there, like it's OUR obligation to be the butlers.
Please tell me again how I have to give ANY real credence to these people who demand everything be tailored for THEM, eschewing OUR enjoyment?
NOTE: this does not apply to every new pilot - I know some of you are out there who are content with things the way they are and enjoy them that way...it's just that some of your nugget compatriots make me want to enact some good ol' fashioned Natural Selection a la .50 cal.

could set that up like a training ship style program, where it tone's down weapons to basically a laser tag style game, and ship reads when its hit and adjusts systems accordingly. All systems shut down for like 30 seconds or something when you lose, then duel's over and systems come back up normal.
as for pvp, i havent started in on it yet. Im currently using crafted engines for the speed, but only because im grinding various pilot squadrons and crafted works fine against NPCs. Once i decide to give grinding factions a break i'll pick up all my looted parts (im saving everything) and see what kinda stuff i can RE for myself.

There's your /friendlyduel command.
Unfortunately, Wash - doing that will rip the everloving HELL out of components - it's pretty much the difference between using a nuclear weapon and going at each other with rusty sporks.
As I've said many times before - the 1-and-2-shot kills are actually more forgiving equipment-wise in non-DS engagements since most of the damage is chassis-based, not component...unless of course a pilot hits a hotspot.

Penetratea 2.5k/2.5k shield with L1 blasters and CtSS? Haven't seen that happen before

No worries, if you hijacked, you hijacked in a good direction. I wasn't particularly fond of the tone before you made your comments. ![]()
Kayl- rethink your objection to the friendly duel in terms of fighting until shields down. I'm sure that's what Wash meant, since that's how I do it when I use that method for playing/training. Takes a bunch of hits for an unoverloaded L1 blaster to break shields, and if you play no wpn overload, no shunting, first one to get the otherto 60% or so wins the round, then it's a valid method.
Don't knock crafted engines too soon. I use a Mark V with PY around 70 in my Heavy TIE, speed 101 or so, and with EO3 I can at least put up a good fight against anyone. (All but the level 2 cap and the level 7 gun in that TIE are crafted parts).
Sure, mounting my prenerf level 8 engine, running EO4, and filling the rest with level 8 reward shield, better cap and a re'd level 8 gun would be much nastier, but this way I don't have to worry about decay.

Could I just ask one thing here. Try not to lump every single JSF/newly mastered pilot into the same boat. Myself, I have had JTL for 6 months now, but have only recently mastered pilot due to medical problems that made flying with all those flashing blasters for any period of time over 5 minutes impossible (hence being unable to finish my fourth tier). I've been looking forward to mastering pilot (finally managed it this weekend) and being able to engage in PVP (have read these forums a lot so I knew what to expect). Aside from deep space on my server seeming to be as dead as a dodo every time I have gone up there, I'm loving it. Never once have I sent or been sent hate tells after an engagement, win or lose.
Basically, in a roundabout way, I'm asking that veteran master pilots like yourselves give us newly mastered pilots a chance to prove ourselves, improve, adapt etc as you have all done in the past.
You talk about space combat being more "gentlemanly", then I suggest you try not to be so closed, giving off this aura of a clique of old-timers and anyone new is simply not worthy. Bragging about how many noobies you can kill and how many people you have on your /addignore list is not conducive of being a gentleman. All it does is hurt the state of PVP in space even more, something that we all don't want to see.
I'm not a total noob pilot, been flying since JTL day one although not pvping for that long, but I have to say /agree
Nicely written. I often made the same experience... I can add nothing more to your statement. ![]()
lol rusty spork....
and aye...before someone mentioned about lvl 1 blasters blowing stuff up quick...was gonna say...wel dont overload and it'll never happen...I do like the idea of haveing somethin like training ships available
and as far as DS faction grinding goes...usually whenever I meet an enemy or they meet me we always duke it out if see each other try to kill each other first...usually...as long as I can get their name lol...I'll shoot em a tell askin if they there for parts or PvP....depending how long I been there farming parts I'll usually go back n play if they want for a bit so long as I dont die time n time again and at least get in one shot on em =0 lol and if they're just grinding parts there as well then that's great and we leave each other alone for that time =)
Bria DS seems very nice people from all the time I've spent there so far =)....that is the few n far between other players I've even seen there lol
