Hmm, nice guide. Sorry for my ignorance but what is the final Master Pilot mission for us freelancers? Do we have to kill the rebel corvette as well?

It depends what freelance squadron you are in.

If you are RSF you will be asked to take down a rebel vette.
If you are smuggler / hutt you will be asked to take down an imperial vette.
If you are corsec, they give you a choice of imperial or rebel vette.

Just a side note, tried to take down the vette myself using this guide the other day and failed miserably.
It was my fault though...hitting the wrong droid commands by mistake is not a good idea hehe.

A friend took me up in a yt-1300 and space-bombed the heck out of it, much more efficient

So if you have friend with a yt-1300 and plenty of space bombs, just sit in the co-pilot chair and enjoy the show.

Ugh, I must sound like a real noob.

Isn't bomberstrike one of the special skills for rebel and/or imperial pilots?

As a freelancer smuggler's alliance pilot I don't have any bomberstrike skill, so what would be a better alternative?

Thanks for indulging my noob questions.

As a freelance your best alternative is IFF scramble and capactitor to shield shunt 4.

Dont bother using piratetrap as the imp fighters will clean that up in no time.

Very Nice but why bother messing with the GBs at all once the engins are out they fly of and leave the VET alone.

Sounds like you are saying, "why mess with the gunboats, once the vettes engines are out they fly off and leave the vet alone".

Read the appendium at the begining of the guide. 2nd paragraph.
Why? Lets put it another way, because if i do the vette before you and i dont take out those gunboats, YOU are going to be sitting there ALL night scratching your head wondering why the vette won't spawn. By taking those gunboats out, i am doing YOU a favor. The least can do, is a real abstract notion of Passing that favor forward to the next pilot.

Neutral pilots actually have a big advantage in taking out the corvette. The fact that it is a Yellow dot means its very easy to do some of the steps. Especially with the help of IFF scramble.

Taking out gun 5 first: a great way to kick off the encounter, fly up under the unsuspecting corvette, match speed, take careful aim at gun5, vaporize the gun. Boost dive directly down and away, getting out of gunboat range, and drawing the now angry fighter escort with you. out run them until you are in a safer place to fight them 1.5-2km from the Corvette, or in the middle of the rest of your group if you left them waiting for you somewhere nearby.

Taking out the gunboats: after the fighters are dealt with, the rest is cake, but if you have a turreted freelance pilot, this becomes even easier. Have them pop IFF scramble to reset the yellow dot on the gunboats and vette. Fly up underneath the gunboats, match speed, roll on your side, and let the gunners have fun.

If you have a friend with a YT-1300 or any other privateer ship that can take a lot of ordanance, it's possible to solo the vette without taking a single hit.

Yeah neutrals its much easier especially against the rebel vette. Aggressors are a pain in the butt. I come up directly beneath with turret 5 targetted then line up blow it up and dive and boost back down away from vette drawing out the fighters. After burn ends turn and take on the fighters. Once they are gone approach vette from below again and take out turrets 6 and 7 on either side.. from directly below you can hit them but they cant hit you. Then roller coaster up and down underneath the gunboat directly behind the vette to take it out. Once you destroy it the other will roll to take its place so as it blows aim down and make some room till it gets into place and repeat on that one. After that I keep below the vette but get out ahead of it.. turn around and take the shields as it flies at you overhead.... if it looks like its going to roll get out as fast as you can or it will ruin your day, I always make sure I have atleast half my booster energy there before getting in range. Once the shields are you take the engine. Then when its immobile head out about 500 away from vette to the sides as usaul keeping below it and you are able to see the guns to shoot them while they are unable to track down far enough to shoot at you... once the top 5 are gone the reactor and bridge is all yours.... and you save cash on missiles by not needing any.

solo'ed the vette for my first master pilot last night using this guide. worked great for me, the fighter escort gave me more trouble then the gunboats/vette too lol

i don't see how people can 'cheese' thier way through this without killing the gunboats. i took out the fighters, dropped the #5 turret then looked at the formation to see if i should disable the vette first or kill the gunboats. from what i seen the gunboats would tear your shields/armor up while disabling the shields, sitting back 560m and killing them made the rest of the vette real easy for me. infact, after taking out the #5 turret i didn't get hit once by the vette and hanging back from the gunships kept me from taking fire from them also. when i first read this (read it several times before attempting to solo it) i thought the gunboats would be very difficult to kill but i have to agree, there is no reason to not kill them when you can do it without even taking return fire. all my programs are level 3 so with a higher set of programs it would have been that much easier too

anywho, thanks for this greatguide. now that i've done it i'm definatly considering doing another squadron or three once i get a stockpile of loot to help the grind... and build back up my bank account lol

P.S. i used MKIII proton missiles to take down everything on the vette except the turrets. 6900+ max damage missiles in a 13 missile stack and i landed witha few to spare. i chose protons because i thought i might need a littlesomething extrato help with the gunboats but they worked great on the vette too. two missiles for any system, one took them down to under 20% so you could even go with weaker missiles if you haveprice/availability concerns.

Actually, unless i missed it, its not in the FAQ at all. My PvP primer post is, but not this one.

Ironically one of the reasons i made this thread is one very opinionated and out of date "how to" on the vette that IS in the FAQ. I opted to leave this one clean, and simple, without the opinionated rehtoric of "needed a large group" or "imperials have it made" attitudes as my rebuttle to said "how to" thread.

I honestly dont care if it gets in the FAQ or not, as often as i posted, having it in my sig was enough. However my sub is up in a couple days, so i wont be posting anymore. Hence, eventually this thread will go away too, much like myself, at least for the next few months
