doubt it all you want..there are some d@mn good pilots on eclipse. 300m and accurate...easy for some of the long time space PvPers.

as for how do i tell...i assume the worse. if someone shows up in a ship that can be used by multiple factions, i'll assume it's capable of busting out every lethal special available.

Gonna need at LEAST 3x proton torps, probably more like 3x spacebombs with 10k+ shields f/b and 7k armor.

But I think we are straying away from the OP's topic of choice.....

But then there are the times where you are alone in DS farming or hunting, and an unknown pilot swoops in. At this point I would call that war. You do whatever it takes (within game mechanics of course) to win the day. If that means EP3 and/or missiles, at that point, why wouldn't it be acceptable? After the fight you could always set up a more "fair" contest to pit skill against skill. But when strangers meet it's all or nothing.

You do realise those against are saying it should not be a part of twitch based mechanics that's the flaw in both arguments for and against

That is why I started this thread so I could get a beter understanding of the ability. I'm a long time Interceptor pilot so EP3 is very new to me.

Also, part of being a good pilot is not only knowing your ship but also other ships and pilot abilities. You know the RGI is nearly immune to blaster fire so as you said, you missile and EP3 the hell out of them. Totally acceptable. On the same token if that RGI pilot crys about EP3, should he not be aware that you may be able to use it? In which case it's on him to stay far enough away from you to be safe. If he gets hit with it that is his fault as a pilot for not knowing his enemy.

So you can tell if a JSF/B22 pilot is freelance or not? please share how you do this

When I fly I assume that every enemy ship has 2.5k shields, 2k slabs of armor, 4k+ damage weapons, 80+ PYR/100+speed engines, and EP3 if in a non faction ship. That is just a part of situational awareness. Even if the guy is in a starter ship I fly like he's in a maxed out master ship. Just a little something I do that helps keep me alive in space. You can underestamte a JSF/B22 or assume he/she doesn't have EP3 if you want to. I won't be making that mistake. Hell...I fly like A-Wings can EP3.

I do agree with you that if space was all out war anything goes (except loadkilling...that is where I draw the line). But for the most part it's just a bunch of flight sim and SW geeks who like to fly and enjoy twitch based combat.

Exactly it's a game for fun not a war so morals can apply where dev's fail us, don't use a non twitch oriented skill in a twitch system

For some people war IS fun but I see your point and agree. But for some people, at the end of the day, a win is a win.

Personally I'm still on the fence about EP3.

Generally, Duci's posts are more constructive, but I think EP3 has gotten to him a bit more than many in the past.

Not that he needs me sticking up for him, or that I care if he wants it or not, just making a comment, but yah, that was a bit overboard imho.

Unfortunately, at least in my experience, privateer-vs-privateer engagements are very rare.

Most of what I end up going against as a rebel freelancer are oppressors or JSFs in the midst of a cloud of telltale yellow dots. I see an occasional krayt up there and maybe a couple of the JSFs I've seen have been freelance, but they tend not to stick around for long.

Not saying that I'd use an epulse or hope that my opponant is an epulser, just saying that I haven't run into a situation where it couldbe common for apair of unfun pvpers.

Hehe, just remember what happened to humpty dumpty when he sat oin that wall(fence) too long

J/K.

Yah, EP3 is a bit of a quandry (sp?). Really, I judge it as more of a situational thing. I use it on mutiple attackers, LK's or those that us it on others for now. Oh, and testing alt against alt

Yup. It's part o' the game. Prepare appropriately.

I think it's mostly that some may think blasters are the only true flight combat style.

If so, cool, I got no prob with that. On Bloodfin, there is a weekly PvP event with some pretty cool pilots, but RGI and EP3 are banned. As far as I'm concerned, thats cool, have fun, but to limit what people can fly is not my idea of a PvP event, but thats just me. Kudos to those that follow those rules. Besides, I don't PvP much anywho.

They should just be warned not everyone thinks that way and be ready, which they probably are and just don't like it hehe.
