Thread: Missile spamming- what are your views on this?
I never use cheap tricks for PVP, close to guns range and duke it out.
The missile spam should be removed no question about it, as if lag is not bad enough in DS as it is.
EP3 another lame addition to the list.
But I do know about getting spammed by some random noob who thinks its funny to keep hitting the 'dumb imp'.
In my opinion, this command should be limited to about 1 use a minute.. to keep from lagging people out.

Flares, and it would seem to be a reasonable means of coordinating a squadron to target a specific opponent.
Flare. Flare. Flare.
Target yourself and spam missles...
You would be lost in a globe of white light...
The baddie won't be having to waste CM's.
Unless of course he sneaks a real missle in there with the rest of your own spam....

Works at any range. So from 2-4km I send 1 or 2 dummy missiles.
I'm sure your opponent appreciates wasting several CM shots when you do this too.
An whats wrong with that? I would agree that using it to lag or blind is pretty lame but using it as a anti-countermeasure? I dont see how getting you opponent to waste is chaff is anything but a tacical descision.
I wonder how an exploit requiring no skills, not even being in the vicinity, targeting, etc. considered a tactical decision. Is it a tactical decision to go to a pvp event covert, dry up someone's chaff launcher, then go overt and fire your (or your wingmate's) missiles on them? (Not to mention that with oppressors around you rather launch 3 chaffs/SDs for a warning, and it equals a fast dryup.)

Not to get political with you guys or anything, but it is a tactic.
Take the opening salvo of the US army against Iraq. Laser guided missiles that the Iraqi army had no defense for or any way of competing against. The US army calls that tactics. And it is. If you can do something that messes up your opponent in any way, that is a tactic. It may not seem fair, but it is perfectly valid.
It is something every player can do. It deals no real damage. All it does is possibly make you waste some countermeasures. It is just a game. It does not show a lack of skill or ability. It just means you were outplayed. I know it sucks to be made a fool of, but it isn't the end of the world.

Nope. I believe you're wrong for the fact you shot yourself in the foot. Iraq wasn't a game by any stretch of the imagination. This is...so the 'tactic' is uncalled for since due to the preservation of fun and in order to prevent any ill feelings/flaming etc you don't need to do it. As Rapax suggested, it wouldn't stop anyone going to space covert, making someone waste their chaff then going overt and torping them. I know that is unlikely but still.
Personally, these days it doesn't hapen much and not many people do it to me so I hardly care, but I don't accept it as a tactic. Blasters for the win.
If one was to apply real world retionality, then things like:
- shooting at peoples engines to incur decay
- spawn camping to achieve area denial
- Ep3 to obliterate your enemy with as little risk to your own forces as possible
- Exclusive use of Tie oppressors in 1 on 1 dogfights to achieve the quickest kills possible
- Camping overtly outside a factional DS station
All have tactical and strategic value, and beleive me, if a GCW in JTL ever developed where the objective is to obliterate the enemy and WIN - you'll find me being innovative doing all of the above and anythign else i can think of. But last i checked this was a game where the objective is to have fun. If you make the opposing teams life hellish, you may find they won't want to play anymore.
