Mind you shooting 12 missiles at yourself kinda looked cool.

Yup ive put on a firework show fronm time to time like that. /launchmissile for me is used as a "Im over here you blind git" message to friends and its always good for fake dogfights and general mucking around in space. I have no problem using it against RG Ints, it does more damage than my blasters ffs. Though one idiot spammed the at me after i said hello one time, it was funny, he ctd over and over again, while I just fell about laughing.

I do use it on non-overts in Kessel. I sneak up on them then fire one at them with a tell saying "If you were overt, youd be dead and I wouldnt be bored" /salute. Quite often they come back overt which is fun.

Ah.. this launchmissle command.. well.. to be honest.. it can be funny to use to just mess around with your friends or yourself.. but every other ues is just plain annoying and in my eyes Harrassment.. i've had it happen to me on a few occassions where the sender would do it over and over and you can't see, can't move cause of lag, and just can't do anything. I'd usually try to get as close to the sender as possible so he lags out to and is blinded...

as for PvP... that's just plain unsportsmanlike...unrespectable.. unhonorable... cheap... umm.. anything else I can use? I've only had that happen to me once in PvP though.. but it was by a guy named Gveedo.. guy was a good pilot, as long as he was in his JSF though.. but at one of the first events we had.. a non-scheduled one that just sort of happened, he would launch them and make you use your CM's then launch the real ones. was quite annoying.. after awhile you dind't know whether or not the incoming missle was real or not... he thought it was a tactic, but I dind't think to highly of it. And for all you guys on Bloodfin.. well, you konw how those Axis boys can be. have had to reign them in on a few occasions up in space. but i'm just glad they were up there.. more targets to shoot at lol

Works at any range. So from 2-4km I send 1 or 2 dummy missiles.

I'm sure your opponent appreciates wasting several CM shots when you do this too.

I personally don't have it happen to me alot. In PvP it used to happen a lot on Bria and since it had no delay it could crash me to desktop since my computer isn't exactly the worlds spiffiest so at the time it wasn't fun.

These days, worse thing it'll do to me is make me waste a chaff. Even if it's awarning type macro..you get the incoming missile thing and you take action so on occasion makes me look kind of silly . Anyway, I think the command is pointless and is a bit of a joke. They keep a command which has no constructive purpose ingame but won't fix other areas. As for using it a a warning macro...well whats wrong with a tell? Personally, in pvp I don't even attack anyone these days. I'll let them target me first, then I'll respond because I'm fed up of newbie pilots and their charlatan attitudes.

A warning tell is much more professional than firing /launchmissile. Besides the fact that you're wasting their CM on a joke command, you run the chance of lagging them with the vibration and bloom from the missile.

Like I said above, /launchmissile in PvP should equal a ban. There's no excuse for it. People have backed waay off on Bloodfin, but back when there was no delay I got hit with a few lag bombs in DS and then promptly killed.

An whats wrong with that? I would agree that using it to lag or blind is pretty lame but using it as a anti-countermeasure? I dont see how getting you opponent to waste is chaff is anything but a tacical descision.

Most people dont pack countermeasures anyway, and it is useful when somone says "where are you?" / launchmissile and they can tell your the flashing white blip on the radar. Good for meeting up with groups befroe they fixed /findfriend.

LOL some guild m8s and I were messing around with this the other day: We were waiting for one of the guys to load in (and he takes forever) so a couple of us started messing around, shooting harmelessly at each other, soon the /launchMissile command started getting used.

At one point my m8 launched so many missiles on me I couldn't see a thing from the explosions - I was pretty stationary/moving at very low speed at the time.

I then did a macro
/launchMissile;
/m FireDummyMissile;

I wanted to spam up my m8 with a load of missiles in return It did too but the only prob was it would only fire one missile every 2 seconds or so. When I did /dump I was still firing missiles for a minute afterwards I had to target some NPC ship to quit the spammage. Oh well it was funny at the time for all involved.

Anyway; for pvp: I don't really space pvp and doing /launchmissile on someone is something I wouldn't do. The episode I detailed above did make me wonder it's use and validity in pvp but I put it down as a dirty trick. I wonder if it'd be any good for 'marking' npc targets...I'll have to try that

At the end of the day, the only ways to pvp 'honestly' are lining up blasters or locking on missiles and taking action to evade your enemies. Simple as that. Lagging people out, loadkilling, EP3 etc are blatant symbols of the user's ineptness at the game.
I've never found a person who does the priorly mentioned who can make use of any other strategy in space combat and prevail and I've flown against a whole lot of people.

Until a pilot kills me with blasters or even missiles, they don't rank in my book. Many have shot me downand hell, I'm no authority on 'who is good' or not, but plain commonsense and considering the facts says a lot. People who say otherwise are just trying to save grace in a futile manner.
