Thread: What sort of attitude do you adopt?

I know I'm good. I'd say top 5% (or better) on Tempest. When ever I help someone on a tough mission, I usually clean up all of the spawn while the other guy is still chasing his first ship around. There everyone I fly with is saying "Wow, you're amazing, blahblah"

This is why I've made a toon on Starsider, I KNOW I have a lot to learn in PvP. On Starsider I don't think I'm even on the board. Sadly Tempest has very little PvP, it's mainly popping some guy thats zoned in on faction farming and is left sitting at the station wondering what the heck just happened.

its fun though when they fix the ship, declair again and go back to the same spot and start farming again. I got a guy in his interceptor 3 times before he realized he was being killed by annother player. I wish I had taken screens of the hate tells I got after that. But outside of DS that is the extent of PVP on eclipse as well.

As PvP goes i find theres two schools of attitude that im aware of.

1.) Think your good, beleive your the best, if you dont youve already lost the fight.

2.) The instant you think your good, you're not.

3.) other

I tend to subscribe to the second one. Reverse phsycology really. WHen i think im good, i get cocky and i make mistakes. When i think im up against someone who's probably better then me, i get a little nervous and scared, i never underestimate, and i tend to fly/fight that much harder.

Which do you subscribe to? Or do you subscribe to another mode of thought im not listing?

One of those, "im bored" posts

Edited for poor wording.

I am definitly #2 (won't go into the obvious pun)for the same reasons. I go into every fight fully expecting to get my rear kicked.

Niether really. I've been told by several people that my flying is amazing. So obviously I have some sort of ego in the sense of "I think I'm good." But I don't often get my arse handed to me, so it's not really "the instant I think I'm good I'm not" either. When I run into someone who I know is better than me, I try my hardest to give them a good fight or I try and keep em on me by dodgingthem while buying time for the other people in my squad to kill the lesser opponents.

#2. I fly a technically "inferior" ship, and despite the compliments I've gotten from pilots I've fought over the nimbleness I've been able to extract from it, I still go in absolutely respecting the abilities and experience of the pilots I go up against. Especially the established veterans.

I'm more like option #3.

Doesn't like to go out looking for PvP, but knows if anyone poses a threat or gives a challenge, I'll destroy them

My attitude: Shut up and fly.

Doubt and pride have little room in a tough battle, there is only room for accomplishing the mission. Anything else is an easy battle, and those aren't much worth talking about.

Definately number 2 for me...

Soon as I start thinking no one can take me I get beat by someone who I should of wiped the floor with. Good reality check for me to not let flying go to my head. lol

Though one of these days I'm going to beat you 1v1 Star! You're probably one of hte best pilots i've ever flown against.

I know in PvE I'm fairly hot, but in PvP I'm still learning, still part hunting.

I don't really care if I win or lose, escpecially in DS, so I guess my attitude is "I'll give it my best shot, and if I get exploded, ohwell"

Neither really. I am fairly confident in my own abilities, but I also know if others are PvPing, they are confident in their own skills as well. Rather than think about if I am good or not, I focus entirely on winning the fight. I really don't have time to think about much except getting them in my crosshairs, pulling the trigger, and CTSS if there is time.

I'm prolly in the second category as well. I know i'm good, but there's always someone out there that is better than yu. I try to take my fights seriously, and from the mindset that they ARE better than me. This makes me think a lot more tactically and lose some of the cocky pilot attitude. In the end, the results are usually pleasing. I just go in to every fight assuming the other guy knows what he's doing

#2 for me aswell. I know I'm good, but I also know, from the moment you get blasted once, you are not the best.

I'm close to this view, but more than "he/she was a better pilot" I allways think of better days. Somedays i'm unbeatable, somedays i'm piece of cake. Anyways, blasting or getting blasted does not really makes any differece... I'm here to have fun
